If I could give them 0 stars, I would.
If you are looking to place your parents in a memory care facility, this is not the one.
16 different executive administrators in 8 years.
Unknown number of Directors of Nursing.
Staff turnover in all other areas is incalculable.
All of the above lead to no continuity of care.
It is strictly private pay or accepts long term disability insurance so when you run out of money or meet an insurance cap, you’re out! No transition team or any support. It’s just adios. We have paid approximately 10k a month for four years. Do the math. It’s astounding.
If the resident refuses care i.e. A shower, a reminder to change their clothes or depends, they don’t follow up AT ALL.
No podiatry care on site. They contracted with a service for an extra charge but the most recent one had not shown up for 4 months with no alternative plan. Diabetic foot care should be provided by a nurse for diabetic patients. She complained of her toes hurting and when I removed her socks and her toenails were almost a half inch long.
Father was put on insulin and we were never notified. We were never notified that Mother was refusing care.
When asked why we were never notified, EVERYONE denied it was their responsibility, or it happened before they were employed there. The interim DON said we could look at our pharmacy bills if we wanted to know. While she was looking at her laptop with all of their information. It was appalling, and I have never met a more unpleasant person. (I’m not naming names, but they’re still employed there)
I could go on and on but this is the short version.
I implore you to remove your parents if they currently reside at Cedarhurst memory care. They are not safe and it is highly likely they are not receiving the care they need.

Staff are unsupported by corporate, inadequate training in place so (new) staff are making mistakes, individual service plans not being followed, medication gone missing and not being administered on time, billing issues (charged over 19k instead of 12k), lack of communication.don't put your loved ones here until they get it figured out better. The staff are trying but it's not enough.

Edit: After months of several sales and resident care staff members telling me my loved one would be reminded to take their medication, specifically called "medication queuing, " I've now been informed that's illegal in the state of Missouri and no one at Cedarhurst would have told me that. Apparently it's legal in Illinois and one of the temporary corporate people brought in didn't know that, but I was told repeatedly over many months by many Missouri staffers that medication queuing would be done. I feel lied to. This was not a term I suggested or knew about prior to looking at assisted living facilities. What else did they tell me that was not true? The facility is beautiful and many of the residents are great. But the staff never stays for long and will apparently tell you anything to get your money.

Prices are going up; services are going down. There are some VERY dedicated staff members, and then there are some that use on-duty time to smoke in their cars out back. (I’ve seen it and I knew they were on-duty!)

In 2022, I had previously been very interested in this facility for my father. I toured the facility 3 times and ate a meal there. I was very impressed on my first visit. My second visit, I experienced foul smells in one area. My third visit the staff was inattentive, urine and stool smells or bleach were a problem in more than one place and the place seemed understaffed and not as clean looking as before. Also, many of the staff who I had been in contact with no longer worked there. I went to Google to look up Cedarhurst and investigate. That is when I found out that the director changed to Amy Byergo. Amy used to oversee the Neighborhood Skilled Nursing facility and my father nearly died there twice due to neglect. We also had many other issues with falls, bed sores, rashes, mixed up medications, broken equipment, call lights and feeding machines that staff knew did not work but are still in use. She avoided having contact with family members, did not care about reported problems and often denied there was any problem at all. When my dad was on a feeding tube, they messed up his food supply and fed him half the calories he was supposed to have per day for two weeks! (Even though, my aunt who is a retired dietitian called the facility to discuss the problem and left messages.) Also, my Dad contracted life threatening facility acquired c.difficile infections twice and they did not want to send him to the hospital. Staff did not wear appropriate PPE or follow hand washing procedures for c.difficile containment. There was not enough staff and Amy was very dismissive about it and always blamed stuff on others. She was the director! Ultimately she was in charge of everything.

I took a tour with Megan & Meghan and WOW what a beautiful facility. The thing that impressed me is that they knew every resident by name and a little about them. I was very impressed!

We have had the best experience for my mother in law during her rehabilitative stay. The caring staff and the clean top of the line facility have made all the difference.
