Dr. Jim and Dr. Pribyl are the BEST at TMJ! I was told years ago from a TMJ surgeon and specialist that I would be in major pain for the rest of my life. I've been to several doctors/dentists and massage therapists for more than 25 years and all of them were only able to relieve the pain temporarily - 2 years with Dr. Jim and my pain is GONE. No more migraine headaches, no more painful injections, no more muscle relaxants, no more pills! My jaw is where it's supposed to be and I can eat normally. My sleep has even improved - all without major surgery and no down time! Thank you, Dr. Jim and the amazing staff at the TMJ and Sleep Apnea Center!

On behalf of Amy Roberts… the center for TMJ has been a tremendous help for my severe TMJ. After a month of treatment I am already seeing progress and less pain. Looking forward to continuing. The Dr’s and staff are all very welcoming and knowledgeable.

Best TMJ treatment facility, after only 6 weeks with specialty guards in place my jaw went from only opening at 35mm to 42mm. The results speak for themselves and I’m able to eat more foods now than I could before!

Also the staff and Dr. Prebyl are impeccable.

I'll share my orofacial pain journey and my experience with this provider in that journey. My facial pain started in 2019. Chiropractors didn't help. Dentist suggested it was TMJ and provided a dental appliance which did not help. In desperation I found this office that specializes in TMJ. Here is what I found with one visit:

#1. They do not accept insurance likely because TMJ is not covered by medical insurance (at least Aetna).
#2. They have you come in for an expensive initial visit to do measurements and then insist on a bunch of expensive diagnostic imaging tests ($800+) at a second visit before making or providing any kind of diagnosis or recommendation.
#3. They WILL NOT write an order that can be fulfilled at an imaging facility that might be in your insurance network.
#4. They won't work with your dentist.
#5. They won't tell you any of this up front or at least didn't when I visited.

From this experience I continued to get worse and finally looked to see if there was anybody else in town as my dentist did not have any useful recommendations other than what they had already tried unsuccessfully. I found a Dr.that spent a good 30+ minutes pre-screening me on his dime before deciding to take my case. The initial visit wasn't cheap, but he more or less did the same measurements and range of motion tests as this location and quickly determined it was not TMJ related and referred me to a physical therapist who specializes in head and neck who was able to resolve this issue.

Before you spend your hard-earned money here, I would suggest considering physical therapy, especially since it will be covered under most health plans. No harm no foul if it doesn't help, but if you find a specialist in head and neck, they can probably help you determine if you have TMJ issues and a course of action if physical therapy is not successful. In my case it took 9 physical therapy visits to bring the condition under control with exercises and stretches to do to continue progressing to a state of normalcy on my own.

In contrast if I would have gone forward with this office, I would have spent as much or more and who knows what kind of recommendation, they would have made beyond that because they have no upfront disclosure of what to expect.

I have no doubt there are some legitimate issues they help with based mostly on 5 star reviews and they were very nice until I pushed for an outside referral for imaging that I could use with my insurance.

Since another doctor was able to correctly diagnose with similar data that was collected with my visit to their office similar to my first visit to this office, either this office is milking people for all they can get or are incompetent. I'm not sure which, but neither is good or professional from a patient perspective looking to minimize healthcare costs.

If you are a sleep apnea cpap user (I am), I'm thinking that cpap usage may cause some of this orofacial pain as positive pressure forces your jaw shut and produces tension as your musculature fights it. I'm hoping western medicine will catch up one day. You supposedly fix one thing while breaking another. No big deal right, just spend more money with doctors is the mantra of the day.

I held off on this review, but since I found a path to recovery/relief, I thought I would provide insights from my experience with this office and my overall orofacial pain journey so that maybe somebody else can get help sooner and for cheaper.

I would respectfully suggest The Center for TMJ and Sleep Apnea provide full disclosure up front of all potential costs to develop a treatment plan and typical or potential treatment plan costs. If they would have done this, I might have thought twice about starting the process with them and if I would have, I would not have been broadsided with expensive diagnostic imaging services and known what to expect and how to budget.

At least now YOU will be able to make an informed decision BEFORE using this office.

Pain free since 2016! Dr. Pribyl helped with my teeth grinding, headaches and severe facial pain. It was an incredible process and you must put in the work for results. I would highly recommend his services. Cetta and staff are friendly, professional and care for your well-being.

Do your research and definitely get a second opinion. Office does not accept insurance.
