Chelly's Cafe reviews
20Visited a few times before leaving the review. The food is consistently delicious, portions are huge and they offer lunch/dinner specials. Pleasant service too!
This is my go to neighborhood Mexican restaurant! The margaritas are good, and the chips and salsa are the perfect amount of crisp and salted.
Had takeout for lunch, tasty, filling and priced right. Went back for dinner a couple of days later with some friends. Friendly service, great Carnitas!
Always good. Carry out 95% of the time and have NEVER had one issue/mistake with my food. Great family owned.
Got California burrito and an enchilada special and queso. All very good! And reasonably priced. Nice service, cute atmosphere.
I had the fajita taco salad. They forgot the guacamole that was supposed to be in it. There was some unedible pieces of steak in it that I had to spit out. But other than that, it was still pretty good.
Maybe they serve different food for ppl who order to go? Worst "mexican"resturant EVER! Seriously. Taco Bell is better! There is nothing authentic about this place except the chips and the decorations. Everything else is a cheap knock off. ALL the walls are terribly dirty.so is the bathroom. I was weary of eating here with viruses being spread so much these days.and my mom always said you can judge someone by the state of their bathroom and kitchen.but by that logic.this place should be shut down. Just walk in and look at ALL their walls. The dirt is caked on and look like they've never been cleaned. We asked if our order was right.the lady said.lets check. Shoulda been checked prior to bringing to the customer. My man is lactose intollerant and said no cheese or sour cream.they didn't put it outside.but added cheese inside his buritto. The burritos were soggy with grease and had no flavor. Did they even use seasoning? Did the buy the tortillas from sunfresh? This was legit the worst place to eat mexican food in kcmo. Dont go unless you want a disease or unless you have no taste buds or like wasting money. This would be a great place to order food for someone you dont like. Dirty.no flavor.drenched in oil. How are you guys still open? Gordan Ramsy would revoke their hispanic cards in a heartbeat. But wanna charge 10 bucks for a lunch meal and didnt even provide a drink? Panchos is better.and they even took away cucumbers!
Went about 1030 AM but you could order breakfast or lunch. It was a great Burrito and I requested a couple changes which they made for me. The service was great!
Fantastic food. Lunch combo. First chili rellono and enchilada. Second enchanted and taco. Both 7.25 rice and beans included.
I eat here about once a month and I'm always so happy! The food, service, and atmosphere is perf and you can't beat the value. I don't always eat veggie - but it's so nice to have so many great vegetarian options. The mini veggie chimichanga plate is my jam and I like their chile relleno so much it's hard to find one that balances the crispy melty and saucy levels.
I want to give a HUGE thank-you to Chelly's Cafe! They SAVED my husband's birthday dinner!
We were planning for a take-out dinner at a Mexican restaurant elsewhere in town, but when we got there we found out they had sold out of empanadas.: - (We remembered that Chelly's has Sopecitos, so we went there. We weren't able to call ahead, so we ordered when we arrived. Everyone at the reception area was so kind and efficient, especially Numen (who handled our order). Our order was ready very quickly, and the food was DELICIOUS! Sopecitos aren't quite empanadas, since they're open-faced rather than pockets, but they were still very tasty!
Next time, we won't go to the other place-we'll head to Chelly's for our celebration dinners!
Absolutely love it here. Staff know what I want. Very good. Love Chelly and her staff. Very kind, caring, funny. One of the waitresses know my cousin and I because of how much my cousin and I come here so will ask me about my cousin when I come without her. Everyone is so very friendly. It's great that most of the regular waiters and waitresses know what I'm going to order to eat and drink. I'll even speak a little Spanish with at least two of them and with Chelly herself. It's my go to Mexican restaurant and I recommend it to anyone who loves store owned by someone who is so caring and friendly to all her customers. She tries her best to keep everyone. Happy I guess is the word I can only think of. She puts everyone else first before her while she's at work.
There was a fly in our margarita. The hostess wiped our table down with a dirty wet rag. Our waitress told us she was stressed out when she took our orders. Just.not ideal.
I didn't love it like I was told that I would.but I'll try it again it was an hour before they were closing.so I'll try it again or try something else. But the waiter he was great!
I've been looking for my to-go Mexican restaurant in KC and I've certainly found it! Look no further for delicious (and gorgeous!) food at reasonable prices. See you soon, we love it here!
The food here was excellent it's authentic Mexican cuisine the service was equally as well I had the burrito platter with beans and rice
Nice, little restaurant that is clean and relaxing. The food was excellent and the staff was very friendly. Overall, an outstanding experience that was worth the drive.
Great service. For the prices, food was amazing. Best value for a place to sit down and eat I've seen in a while. Will go back again.
Delicious food and friendly staff. The chorizo skillet cheese dip is by far the best thing on the menu. We have eaten there a few times while visiting and stopped by just for margaritas. All experiences have been fun and positive.
Hands down the worst salad I've ever had. It was a bag salad with some corn, beans and tomatoes with grilled chicken. No salad dressing and it was packed between 2 hot dishes so it was warm and disgusting. I dont expect much by getting a salad from a Mexican restaurant but this was awful
