Clifty Creek Natural Area reviews
9It was definitely interesting and beautiful to say the least. Great for hiking, biking, or even a nice nature walk!
Great place. And yes, if you park in the MCD lot on top of the hill one must walk down to the water and back up again. If you are elderly, mobility challenged, or have physical difficulty.drive past the parking lot, the road crosses the creek and parking around there is how you really serve a community of people who can't do steep inclines? Not by planting a post with a blue sign on it way up a hill, a parking place is not access to anything but a parking place for a vehicle and it's not access to place if they can't use the trails?
This is very common and I'd like to point this out in all my reviews. Pickle Springs is another such location, the Grand Bluffs as well.on and on the list goes where the MCD has placed Reserved Parking in places for people with mobility limitations, places 95% of us can't access when we arrive. I really question who is being served the most.
Millstream Gardens has a paved trail for access to the water there, it's one mile each way and downhill sloped. Where the kayaker people all park is only 200 yards to the water for instance?
A nice little hike along the Clifty Creek Ridge with plenty of ups and downs. About a 30-40 minute hike to the natural Bridge area. Relatively easy trail for an hour and a half round trip hike. Great place to take the dogs out. A little muddy but decent. Extremely Icy in the winter.
Excellent trail and very popular on a Saturday. We arrived in time to get the last parking place. Then a car left, one arrived, another car left and another arrived while we were putting on our hiking shoes. When we returned nearly two hours later, only four cars left. We passed 12 on the trail. No blazes but pretty well defined and occasional hiking arrow signs. Also where the trail was a bit sketchy or an easy to miss switch back, someone had "flagged" it. Only down side, it wasn't twice as long!
Was a great walk for a beginner. Came across two big black dogs unleashed one of which didn't seem friendly
While taking the trail to the natural arch, you'll have to be mindful of the many rock outcrops and roots in the pathway.
Its a bit longer than you would expext, greatest feature wich is the rock bridge is about half ways
Nice little hiking trail with beautiful views and creek crossings. Family and the dogs loved it. Well, the littlest kid might disagree for a small portion, as he got tired.
Nice little hiking trail for Missouri. This 2.8 mile hiking loop includes 2 river crossings and beautiful rock features. Perfect for families who love the outdoors. My son loved skipping rocks at the river. Strava clocked a 500 ft elevation gain. I'd recommend this hike for families with kids age 6+. Dog friendly. Great beginners hike.
