Courtyard by Marriott Kansas City East/Blue Springs

My husband and I have stayed at many Courtyard Marriott hotels over the years. We stayed at 3 on this road trip. This particular Courtyard was not up to par for what we've come to expect from this company. First from the moment we walked into the room the heat was on way too high. They had an old heating/cooling unit that was difficult to get to turn off heat so we were roasting part of the night until we were able to get it turned off. Secondly the bed was very uncomfortable and the pillows weren't very good. The rest of the amenities seemed fine although we didn't use them. The room definitely left something to be desired.

It's just ok if you need to rest
The beds are too hard, as someone with a horrible back, waking up my back killed me.
No breakfast, there's a bistro and everything is a la carte.
The bottom floor hallway had a funk, not sure what it was but it later smelled like deodorizer was sprayed in the hallway.
Bugs in the bathroom as well as mold on the shower ceiling.
Rusty door hinges, scuffed paint on room walls.
Barely enough television to fit their huge display stand.
No microwave.
No laundry bags.
No decaf coffee in guest room.
Dark parking lot at night.
There's 2 park benches under the portico area for smokers that were so low and flimsy, I felt a child could break it.
I would not come back here again, for the price, I'll stay a few blocks over.

Lovely little place, pool workout room small little bar it's a nice quiet little place if you're a traveler like I am you don't like all the Ruckus. I will stay here every time I'm in town

For being a Marriott brand, you’d think the hotel would be a little better than it was. First, our reservation was cancelled by the reservation center for some reason. Never got a cancellation email. Front staff was nice and just reinstated it. Hotel is clean. Room was spacious. Wi-Fi was pretty non-existent. If we got it to connect, it never stayed connected. The beds were hard. The headboard is nothing but 2 firm cushions against the bed/wall. Room and hallway had a musky smell. Shower needs an update. The restaurant on site is not really a restaurant, it’s a cafe with a very small, very limited menu. We ended up grabbing food elsewhere. Didn’t get to swim, but when walking past the pool, it’s pretty small.

I was very disappointed with service. First off, there was food left in the fridge from whoever stayed in the room before us. The bathtub wasn’t the cleanest either. Secondly, they are not very lenient. Our truck had broken down and thought we had to stay another night. Turned out, our truck got fixed. We tried to cancel and the lady my husband was talking to was very nice and was going to check us out. Some lady had walked behind her and said absolutely not. I’m assuming she was the manager. We were 10 minutes past check out. She was very rude. Not to mention, a car was stolen in the parking lot the night before! We didn’t feel safe parking our truck and trailer in this parking lot. She didn’t care one bit. Anyone else who is looking to stay in the area, find somewhere else! There are plenty of other options! Oh, and to top it off, they have no continental breakfast! What a waste of money!

Great location, close to many restaurants, shopping, and Highway access. Wish it was a little more updated than it was but it was good for one night. Loved the little cafe with Starbucks and food. Ordered breakfast from the menu, the staff that took my order were great. Polite, accurate and food was hot. The pool was perfect size for our kids, if anyone else would’ve been in it, it’s probably be uncomfortable. (We went on a Weekday).

The room was a little small but nice. I liked the layout. And the loveseat and foot stool was a nice touch. Much more comfortable than the norm. No microwave though. They also came in and "freshened up" the room when we told them we didn't want anyone in there during our stay. There's also no complimentary/continental breakfast. I've been to far cheaper places with much better breakfast options that didn't cost extra. Wifi was slow too.

Courtyard by Marriott hosted a large gathering of Granny Basketball players playing at the National Tournament at the HyVee Arena in KC. Excellent food, service and host!

Watch out for bait and switch pricing - They ended up charging us 33% more than the advertised price on marriott.com. No breakfast, lots of people hanging around outside. Do not recommend.

Staff was very blunt in answering my questions, very over priced and no free breakfast. I will not stay there again. Not a friendly staff.

The room was fine and service. As good. Comfortable bed, good AC. However, I was really disjointed to see that breakfast is now overpriced, prepackaged (for the most part) Starbucks. They charged me three bucks for cold, stale coffee. It definitely took away from what was otherwise a decent stay.

Location is great, many food places and shopping places right by.hotel not so great.continental breakfast isn't a thing anymore with this hotel, they are off menu with limited options we decided to go out to breakfast before our trip home luckily there are many options available close by.pool was very, very cloudy and my teenage daughter mentioned it was different then the other hotels we had stayed at the previous days. (2 other hotels on our road trip) I did notice it was very cloudy and didn't even get in.hotel room looked great walking in but my husband noticed some dry "blood" on the door. I thought it might have been "rust" we were staying one night thankfully and quickly left.would definitely not stay again.staff was very nice.that's why I gave the stars.

Great staff, very clean hotel and room, definitely recommend! Only downside was breakfast wasn’t included, other than that a great stay!

Very nice place. Exactly what I expected for a 3-star hotel. Very clean and neat. Staff was super friendly. My only complaint would be that the bed was a good bit firmer than I'd like.

HORRIBLE DO NOT STAY HERE! A employee of Marriott used their key to force enter into the bathroom while I was exposed on the toilet and forced me to run and hide behind the bathroom! Your maintenance “men” plural, as in two; came to the restroom door immediately upon me entering. I told them someone was in the restroom. A few minutes later they come back and use their key to entered. All they could say was “sorry”! Really? How many other people have they walked in on? Is this a common thing? Be aware!

This is our annual stopping place on our spring vacation! It’s quiet, affordable, clean, and the employees are friendly and helpful!

We also love the option to use Marriott points and pay less! We won’t stay anywhere but Marriott hotels! Loyal customers!

This hotel was fantastic. It was clean, all of the staff was very friendly and was eager to assist any of our needs. We had customers and staff stay at this hotel and they had nothing but good experiences. I had stayed at this hotel several times throughout almost 2 years because we had events next door. Every time was a pleasant experience. Unfortunately, the event venue was not the same inviting and accommodating experience. We had to move our event that we have several times a year to a different location. I am sad to not be staying at this hotel any longer but I know the next hotel and conference center will bring us a great experience as well.

This is an older hotel. The staff is responsive but the hotel lacks a lot of modern features like keyless room entry and mobile check-in. In addition the phones didn't work and hadn't been on working order for several weeks according to the front desk so it was hard to communicate with the hotel ahead of our arrival which was delayed. I was given an alternate mobile number to call which was much appreciated.while the sleeping areas in the rooms have been updated, the bathrooms haven’t been touched in quite a while and the fixtures and equipment are all tired. I still paid a typical Marriott rate for my room so I wasn’t expecting all of these negatives; I’ll have to look for different accommodations next time I’m in blue Springs.

The room was good enough, though I've experienced better for sure. The shower head was on the short side, I'm 6'2" and I had to lean over to get my head wet. The pressure was high too, like a fire hose. Some might like that, it was a bit too strong for my liking. This hotel didn't have free breakfast, which seems almost standard at many similar hotels these days. At least there are many good options for food near by (got Lamar's donuts instead, highly recommend). I prefer to stay at another hotel near by in Independence, but the prices were super high for the Chiefs playoff game. I will choose the other hotel next time I'm driving cross country.

Well appointed, comfortable, clean rooms. Very friendly staff. Nice indoor pool, and convenient breakfast bar/ evening bistro.
