Cox Memorial Access

I dont know where this name cox memorial came from. If I am looking at this picture right it is a picturw of the Y brid. This is a river bank my kids grew up on thanks to concerned locals the place stays clean and it is a good place to.swim but there is one little gas station and one little restaurant. Other than that you better bring your lunch and driinks because it is 10 miles to town. There are a couple canoe rentals there and it is a beautiful float down the James River

I was very fortunate that they were not real busy when I visited. It was on a Friday evening about 7: 00. The lady took my info and I was almost immediately called in and a very professional young nurse did the preliminary exam and vitals. I came in with bad cough, sore throat and body aches. She also ask and with my permission did a covid and strep throat test. Very shortly after the Dr.came in and did a thorough exam and my test results came in negative. He diagnosed me with acute bronchitis and gave me prescriptions for antibiotics and cough syrup. Check out was fast and simple and the pharmacy filled my scripts faster than I have ever had before. All pharmacy staff extremely professional. Very good experience for being sick but I also realize most of the time these places are extremely slammed and patience and understanding must be used. Thank you Cox Urgent Care for the Awsome care. I will definitely come back.

This is a great place to come and enjoy James River. The public use area has a great concrete ramp to launch your boat. The launch ramp has handicapped facilities for entering and exiting your boat before and after launching. A large graveled parking lot and bathroom's. The public use area are also located under and up stream from the Historic Galena Y Bridge. The Y Bridge is closed to traffic. It is now a walking bridge. The Ralph Cox Memorial Access is also were Y Bridge Canoe Rental located in Galena.ybridgecanoe.com picks up and launch's their customers shuttle or who have Rented Canoes, Rafts, Kayaks, Jon Boats and Float Tubes.
Just across the Y bridge is the City of Galena. The City has Restaurants, Gas Station, Dollar General Store and Nightly Rental Cabins and two canoe rental outfitters.

The bridge has a great view. Nice to walk on something that's been from the past so long ago to see what it was like then

It's a great place to put in, however people must stay off the boat ramps when boats are loading and unloading

It's just a good place to visit, and see the scenery.
