Downhome Cafe, Peculiar MO

We were there on a Sunday morning - probably their busiest time - and I was impressed by how our waitress kept her cool and all of the waitstaff seemed to be helping each other out in the time we were there. The menu was great and my husband and I both loved what we ordered, so I’m pretty sure you can’t go wrong here. Next time we’re close to Peculiar, we’ll definitely be back!

Didn't get to eat because as soon as we walked in the grumpy waitress rolled her eyes and said it was gonna be a super long wait so we may wanna go elsewhere.even though the place wasn't even close to full.

I don't know what happened. This place went from 5 stars to 1. Very disappointing. Loud music and coughing coming from the kitchen. All the food was cold and to make it even better we had to hear the conversation between the waitress and the cook about how he just took it off the grill. Must have been a cold grill because the food was COLD. I forgot the first rule: the customer is always wrong. Call it Frankie's or call it Downhome Cafe, either way it's bad and we won't be going back.

Now Frank's Cafe, went last Sunday for the first time. Breakfast was very good and plentiful! Service was outstanding.

Our men's group from Fellowship Church has breakfast there on Thursday mornings and our food and service have been nothing short of terrific. Frankie is always smiling and just in a short time, she is figuring out what our favorite dishes are. Please take the opportunity to visit and support this small business in Peculiar! They do a great job!

Ran up for a bite of breakfast this morning. It’s obvious they have recently remodeled, and it looked great! I try the dish called the “porky pig “and it was lovely. Basically has browns with sausage gravy poured over them, add cheese, then cover with 2 eggs over medium, with a side of toast! Delicious! Wait staff was courteous and checked on us often. We’ll be back next time we are in town! PS. Two breakfast dishes, coffee and tea was $25, pretty hard to beat!

I believe it's one of the few places that still serve real food. It just awesome and so is the atmosphere

The name has changed to Frankie's Cafe, but the service and food have not. They are still Awesome! Our waitress was very helpful and polite, plus my biscuits and gravy were the bomb. I will definitely be back.

Recently moved to the area and were happy to find a new breakfast spot. Honest food in good portions. The waitress suggested adding sausage gravy to the hash browns, and I was not disappointed!

Best chicken fried chicken around! Chains have nothing on this type of homestyle cooking! Onion rings were crisp to perfection and hand breaded chicken tenders that melt in your mouth! Definitely worth stopping in and tasting!

I was at this cafe some time ago and my “over medium” eggs were under cooked. Whites not
done. Waited a long time before going back. This morning I tried again. Ordered my eggs scrambled
because who
messes up scrambled eggs. Well, apparently
Down Home Cafe does. Slimy egg whites in my scrambled eggs, ordered my bacon to be crispy and
were only half cooked. However, biscuit and gravy & hash browns were good. Probably won’t return. If I do, I won’t be ordering eggs.

Great food and an even better staff. Our server was super friendly and after our meal, the cook came and asked us how the food was and personally thanked us for coming in. We're from out of town, but will definitely stop here again the next time we come through.

Excellent home-style food! Thought I turned into the lot for Sonic for a quick bite but was pleasantly surprised to find this cafe! Breakfast all day and a lunch special each day. I had the BLT and it rocked - go give it a bite!

O. M. G! People if you haven't heard the word, you should take yourself to this place for lunch, or get your dinner to go at lunchtime, no I don't work for these nice folks, I'm telling you if the secret gets out how good the catfish is here, there's gonna be waitin in line only, just try it

Absolutely love small friendly atmosphere places to eat. The food was amazing. Would definitely return
