Dr Dowling is my hero. I've been with him since 1997 and I pray he never retires. I dont want any one else to do my surgeries. Pseudo tumor cerebri is a real pain, but he gets me through it. He listens and cares. And his RN Evelyn is just as amazing. She definitely tells it to me straight and makes me laugh. I'd travel across country to see him if I had to. Thanks for keeping me programned.

Dr. Dowling helped me when I felt hopeless. I have had a number of surgeries with him for my VP Shunt. His staff is excellent. Evelyn his RN is exemplary. Neurosurgeons often are pegged as cold and calculating but NOT Dr. Dowling. He cares about his patient care and makes sure they receive wonderful care. I have been his patient for 10 years.

Dr. Dowling is an extremely talented neurosurgeon. He flawlessly and successfully performed microvascular decompression (MVD) surgery on yours truly on August 14,2020. I was suffering from left facial Trigeminal Neuralgia (TN). In some medical journals, my affliction is sometimes referred to as "the suicide disease". It's difficult to explain the pain I was experiencing other to relate it in the following manner. Any movement of my tongue to drink, talk, or eat resulted in almost unbearable pain which I describe as seizure-like electrical shocks to the left side of my face. During the procedure, Dr. Dowling drilled a hole near the base of my skull, entered an area adjacent to my brain stem and placed a fibrous Teflon pad between my trigeminal nerve and an artery that was pressing against the damaged nerve causing the shocks. Picture a conventional electrical wire (nerve) laid bare of insulating covering sparking with the offending artery. If the good Dr.discovers this bit of prose, he will probably chuckle at my rather childish description of his extremely sophisticated successful intervention. I can live with that since my quality of life itself was in dire straits for the remainder of my existence on this rock called Earth if Dr. Dowling hadn't worked his magic with his expert hands. Thanks to Dr. Dowling, his excellent team of professionals, Neuro ICU, Siteman Cancer Center and BJC for helping this 78-year old man enjoy whatever time he has left to enjoy the company of his wife of 55 years, his two grandchildren and a large contingent of family and friends.

45 minutes late for his appointment just to talk for 2min about a patient’s radiology results. Anything to bill insurance. The results could have quickly been said after the scan or he could have had one of the nurses call or inform. Instead making a sick patient wait close to an hour just to hear couple of quick sentences and to bill insurance for the appointment. How vile and disgusting. Congrats on making that $100-$200 thou

Dr. Dowling is a smart, attentive, caring and thorough neurosurgeon. Dr. Dowling, his nurse, his resident team and his office staff are very attentive to the needs of the patient. This is my second brain tumor in 12 years. The difference in surgeries was the surgeon AND the hospital. I got to experience why Barnes is tops in the USA.
