Dutch flowers, Kansas City MO

Worst place in city market! Went here with my family and as soon as we walked in we were given dirty looks and not once greeted by anyone.we proceeded to look around the store but did not buy anything.as we were leaving the man at the front counter followed my sister out and asked her where the keychain we were looking at was.she told him we put it back and told him how every time we came here we were given dirty looks and even sprayed with water once.she told him she felt racially profiled every time she went into the store and he said “miss me with that bullshit” completely unprofessional and disgusting.if i could give zero stars i would.this happened on 2/26 @ 2: 30

Neat little store on the edge of City Market. Lots of interesting items inside and cool metal works outside. Staff was great.

Located in the historic City Market, this place is a plant lovers paradise. My favorite thing are the flower bouquets they make every week. You can also pick out individual stems. This is a good place to go if you’re looking for gifts, home decor, or holistic medicine alternatives.

Has more just plants lots of cooking things nice gift ideas and whatnot I look at it if you need a gift or white elephant

1 star is far more than I would ever give this place! I Used to love this shop until I went in with my daughter recently. I noticed a woman at the front door who was greeting everyone but gave my daughter and I a dirty look and no greeting. I noticed right away and I felt very hurt by the very obvious negative reaction by the woman. I sat back and watched her greet white and only obviously white customers! My daughter and I Hispanic so I'm assuming this was her issue. Maybe if I walked in with my obviously white Dutch husband we would have been greeted while entering and exiting the shop. This honestly broke my heart, no so much for me but for my daughter. It made my blood boil and I will never spend another penny or walk into this place again!

Very sad to say this, but I will not be returning to Dutch Flowers after today. Some lady followed us out of the store and accused us of stealing, brought us back inside, and after a man confirmed we did buy everything, scolded us for not putting our items in bags. No thank you, no apology.

Well then provide people with a receipt and put their items in bags if you’re going to accuse your paying customers of stealing. I absolutely cannot stand when businesses try to display this kind, accepting, spiritual atmosphere, but are actually not kind or accepting in any way.

This store is really really cool. They carry a decent selection of houseplants, flowers, and planting accessories. However, plants aside, the amount of intriguing house knickknacks, decorations, and accessories is where this store really shines. There's a lot of cute and quirky goods there, and there's even a respectable selection of 'witchy'/metaphysical products to buy. The store itself feels somewhat cluttered in certain places but it's totally worth checking out every nook and cranny just to marvel at everything.

Prices are alright, probably comparable to other competitors in the area. Service was pretty friendly and generally leaves people to their own business, but was willing to answer questions if anyone had any.

This store is a must-see at City Market, if only for the sheer amount of interesting items they carry. I'd definitely recommend this shop to tourists and locals alike.

Store was lovely. However I’m big on service, especially when it comes to purchasing items that tie into spirituality. I went to the counter to compliment the store and there were two women at the counter 05/24 @12: 30PM CST. One of the women were extremely rude and acted as if they didn’t want to speak. The other was on the phone. I literally sparked a conversation about how I never new so much existed behind the plants entry to the woman at the counter who was available to speak, and how the store was beautiful. She looked me up and down as if my attire (hoodie and sweats on a rainy day) was an issue as I was speaking to her…and gave an extremely forced & dry ‘thank you. ’ And nothing more.

However I spoke with a young Asian woman who was very pleasant and social. She matched my energy. She was extremely pleasant and obviously knows how to treat a potential customer. Unfortunately, I’m very spiritual and I feel like it wasn’t meant for me to discover the store. I’m glad I experienced the unpleasantness at the counter, as I feel like that is a sign for me to not purchase anything from this store. Energy can easily be transferred into the items they’re selling. I will not be returning or recommending and I hope they take my review into consideration as to how to improve how you treat potential customers. Seems like based on previous reviews, they tend to profile some of their customers based on skin color. Gives the city market a bad reputation. You’d think after so many similar reviews, they would maybe self evaluate? If nothing changes, then you can safely say they aren’t welcoming of ALL people.

Lovely shop.the environment is warm and the staff are kind and very informative! A go to stop when in the river market area.:)

Loved this place until today when i came in and noticed that the tall lady who’s probably the owner was staring at us the whole time and followed us.we were near the plants and she proceeded to spray water when i was in the way got my whole purse wet including me, she didn’t apologize i returned everything and from reviews i’ve read she seems racist.

I love visiting this place nearly every weekend and the quality of their plants and customer service has always been great UNTIL today. The only reason I'm giving a 3 star review has to do with an encounter upon entry today by a man who confronted my boyfriend and I about our dog not being allowed in the store. We informed him that he was a support animal and received a very judgemental "if you say so" response to which I offered to show paperwork and he declined. We tried to move on and continue enjoying our evening and shopping experience in this adorable store that we have frequented with our dog several times before but this man followed us inside and continued to harass us with questions. He asked about what training our dog has been through and asked intrusive questions about what disabilities we had that would require a support animal. The tone he used was aggressive and I continued to ask him to please stop asking us questions as I was not going to answer them but was happy to show him the paperwork which would allow us to continue about our business. After he continued to ignore my offer to show him the paperwork and continued to abrasively ask us questions I informed him that the reason we had a support animal had to do with my boyfriend's mental health diagnosis and that his harsh tone and attacking mannerisms was not helping. I had hoped that with this information he would back off and let us go about our business instead he responded with "well I guess the animal doesn't work then". At this point we decided leave to prevent my boyfriend from having a panic attack due to his increasing anxiety from this horrible interaction. I'm writing this review with hope that this man will be educated on how to behave in a more professional manner and learn to respect people's privacies so they do not have to disclose their disabilities or mental illnesses in front of an entire store. Today could have been an enjoyable day and instead due to this man's hostile interaction with us we had to end our evening early.

Whimsy little treasure, filled with plants, pots, garden and yard art, specialty socks, kitchen towels and lots of fun pet items. They also have crystals and gem stone rocks, candles, soaps, home decor, backpacks, kids toys, cute little purses and much much more! Great place to spend LOTS of time and the store goes on and on! It looks so tiny from the outside, but I was very impressed with its size and variety! Reasonable prices too. I’ll be back!

The selection is really great, I love all the loc offerings, however, what stood out was the superb customer service. I went in to pick up a new coworker some mini succulents, a pot, and some soil so they could join our succulent team building happy hour. I was not very familiar with succulents and the lady working was very helpful in setting it all up. She was knowledgeable, helpful, and just incredibly polite. I’ll definitely come back for future potting needs.

This place is wonderful if the tall blonde old woman wouldn’t of HOUNDED And LOOKED through my stroller. There were other people with strollers I live in Overland, KS and have never been targeted nor was I stealing. My toddler was having a fit and as I was trying to navigate through the narrow cluttered store. A two year old throwing a tantrum is frustrating alone. This was very unprofessional to profile my family like this.

They have a huge array of not only flowers but plants, pots, gifts/knick knacks, crystals and tons of other amazing items. It’s a huge place with tons to look at. One of my favorite things they offer is One dollar scoops of soil, that might sound silly but as a plant owner who lives in an apartment and does not need a huge bag of soil, it is very helpful when I have just one plant I need to repot.

I bought two little pots with my bf and I got accused of stealing simply because the girl at the register did not wrap my pots or give me a bag. When their security guy brought me back to the register they only then wrapped it and gave me a bag. I then tried to return the items because I no longer wanted to support the business and they said they don’t except returns. I do not understand why the girls at the register did not give me a bag and wrap it in the first place if they knew I was going to get stopped on my way out of the store. Seems like laziness or targeting.

I’ve been here a few times over the years and had positive experiences, but I’ve been twice in the last week and the customer service has been pretty horrible. On the first occasion, a man followed me around the store as though I was going to steal something. At the time, I thought he was a customer but from reading other reviews, I now realize he was security and was following me around because I was the only brown person in the store. On the same visit, my husband said that the blonde cashier (not the one with long straight hair) was just staring him down with a dirty look.

Anyway, on our second visit in the same week, the same blonde cashier was very rude once again and looked at us as like “wtf are you doing here? ” like we weren’t supposed to be in there. I’m not sure what her issue is with us but I suspect it is racially motivated. I read some other reviews and noticed others have mentioned experiencing racial profiling while in this store. I wish I hadn’t spent so much money here, and am definitely going to find a place with friendlier customer service.

This is such a cute store! Nicky is super awesome and kind and gave great customer service! I will definitely be coming back (:
