El Maguey Mexican Restaurant reviews
20Love this restaurant but a little disappointed in their customer service tonight. They close at 5 and we showed up at 420 when I told them we were a party of 8 and already knew our order. They said “oh we are going to close early”. She was very rude about it. I was not happy because I had called a few days ago and they said “yes no problem as long as your order is in by 445”. We all know in this restaurant your food literally is done in 10 minutes or less.
Good food but over priced now…weak drinks!
$5.25 for a plain beef burrito and a one once side of pico de Gallo was $1.50 and the container was half full…bean dip was six bucks? It beans and a little cheese.
Also, management has run off most of the good employees…if you ever see the manager, the one who never smiles, ask her why her business is dying?
If your lucky enough to actually talk with her you’ll know the answer.
Stop by for a quick dinner, found seating at the bar.food was tasty.service was great all in all a good experience
F-ing gross. I ordered the burrito el grande and it taste bland say it has Beans. Nope no beans, it did have a couple of pieces of corn not sure why because it didn't say anything about corn. And the meat is like the meat you see in a beef pot pie. A beef pot pie would've been better and cheaper. Don't waste your time.
Salsa for the chip runny and weak prefer thick salsa with fresh veggie ingredients. Street taco were okay
We just moved to the area from Florida and we’re de searching for a good Mexican restaurant and found it. The found was delicious and fresh. The service outstanding. And the prices incredible. Authentic Mexican in a fun atmosphere. We will definitely be back.
I didn't have my mask on when I first got there because I locked my keys, as well as my mask, in my car. I went inside to get a menu as I waited, noting several men were sitting at the bar, where I went, without a mask. I had to ask to get a menu. When I went in later, one of their friends were showing them their child, which was adorable, but neither the woman or the child had a mask on, but they were in closer contact than I was and had no problem interacting with THEM. JUST SAYING.
I ordered carni asada burrito’s and they did not put cheese on them. Nachos have shredded cheese vs melted cheese. I like the other locations instead of this one
We eat here often today EVERYONE from the host to the server were as rude as rude can be. We will find somewhere else
Honestly one of the best Mexican restaurants around St. Louis. Food is delicious and service is fast
The food is always good you can never go wrong eating at El maguey the service is always really good at my way also
Went for lunch. I got a quesadilla and my friend got enchiladas. The food tasted great. The prices were great. Atmosphere was great. Service was just a little slow, but I didn't count that against them because they were pretty busy.
We go here sometimes because it's close, but the food is just okay. The service is pretty good and there isn't usually a wait.
Meh. I didn’t like it.
The food was mediocre and even cold. The server was coughing and sneezing and using a turquoise towel to wipe his face and sneeze in. It took way to long for a late lunch time. Everything about it was disappointing. To be honest, I’m giving 2 stars based on the neat design of the building and because I’ve been to several other El Maguey’s which I know to be yummy. This one is lacking.
By far the best El Maguey in St. Louis. The salsa and chips are on point, food was delicious and the wife's margarita was awesome.
Margarita I ordered was good, but very strong. The service was really fast. The food was pretty greasy; I ordered Taco salad and it was very greasy. Yes, it had meat and cheese in it, but salad should never be that greasy.
Even though it was 90 degrees outside, middle of the summer and no sign of rain, we weren't allowed to sit outside and we had to sit inside. The restaurant should never not allow their customers to sit outside just so they can make it more convenient for their employees. How hard it was to bring 2 drinks and 2 meals 3 steps outside, honestly?
This place is adorable. Bright murals, big windows, and lots of booth seating next to window seat looking out over the patio.
Our service was absolutely awful. Food came out fairly quick. The waiter didn't come check on us until we were almost done with our lunch. Finally received a soda refill when I had 2-3 bites of food left.
I ordered the beef dip was served cold. Asked them to warm it up they added water which took away the flavor. Also ordered the steak burrito that was cold also. Will not be returning.
Food was good, though what was served didn't match the menu. My burrito had chicken in it and it didn't list it having chicken. Service was really slow. Saw 9 people working there but it appeared only 1 server was working the whole restaurant. Went in at 4: 15 pm.
