El Maguey Mexican Restauraunt, Lake St Louis MO

All in all the food is great, which is why we always go back. Mainly for carry out. Occasionally, we'll dine in it's mainly carry out.
I can't speak to all the menu items, but the Chicken Chimies are awesome. Which is what all three of us usually get.

My wife recently started getting the Echalada Verde, and she loves them.

As far as the service is concerned, we've only had a few issues out of, and I'll bet close to 30 visits there. Which forgetting something when you do carry out is a real drag. So, I kind of blame myself for not checking the bag, especially since it happened more than once. We always get a side of Queso Cheese dip, and it's been forgotten a couple of times.

We're in Wentzville, and this location is in Lake St. Louis and traffic on Highway N at that time of day is terrible. I've only gone back to get it one time, and they gave me a larger amount. After that, though, I didn't go back to get it the next time due to traffic. My food was cold by the time I got back home the first time. As much as it still tastes great reheated, since I always have leftovers to take to work for lunch the next day. I prefer my food hot at the time I bring it home.

Other than that, it's been a really great experience every time. The food is ready when they say it will be, even on busy nights with the dining room packed. Which is the main reason we do carry out. My wife and daughter do not like crowds and it's a popular place so it's usually crowded, especially on Fridays, which is when we normally get it. My wife gets a break from cooking dinner.

This is a fantastic place to go for fresh authentic food. Our waitress was on top of everything and so nice. Very clean! 5 star

Fairly standard menu as far as Mexican restaurants go, but the food was really good. Pictured is the carne asada burrito and their chips, salsa, and 27oz margarita. They have specials every night.

I was there last night and the food and service were great! They’re under new management, and what a difference. I got the taco salad fajitas and the shell was filled to the top with lots of bite-size chicken, onions, peppers, cheese sauce, sour cream and avocado. It
was really good! Everyone was actually working, not standing around talking. Most of the staff are new. They’re friendly and even SMILE! I can’t wait to go back.

Very good. I enjoyed the steak Jalisco, chips and salsa and hot sauce. Drinks came in huge cups.

These folks are great. Always seem to accommodate large parties quickly. Service is quick and the food is consistently good. Coronarita and Mario’s Quesadilla

Attitude from server when asked to see bill. Just wanted to run credit card. 3% increase for card, but bill was higher than 3%.
Beware bill might be higher than what you ordered.

The $17.99 chicken fajitas were a pile of peppers and 2-3 oz shredded chicken. Its joke at best. Dont waste your time here. Not authentic Mexican food. Or Tex Mex. More meat served on Taco bell taco.

8-2-23 the food was not fresh had an odd taste. The tamale was old, the Verde sauce on the chicken enchilada was almost brown. Horrible, could only eat 1/4. It was 4: 45 so no excuse. Plus the place had a musty sticky feel to it. I love the Lake side restaurant % better!

El Maguey on Ronald Reagan Blvd we use to frequent ALOT! We stopped for years because of food and service disappointments! I had a meeting recently I needed to schedule, so I decided to give it a try again last month.
It was the middle of the week dinner time, not really crowded. Service was absent, to say the least! We were lucky to get the attention to order. Once the items we ordered arrived It was cold. Could not get service before, during or to get our bill. This is unacceptable, as you see employees walking around, but certainly not helping their paying customers. I frequent the city quite often and do not have this issue at the El Magueys in the city.
I wish they realized that their customers are why any business stays in business. If you are working, how do you not pay attention to your paying customers? Very disappointed!

We always had good experience with this location both dine in and take out. Fast service, accurate orders, and generous portions. The reason for 3 stars is that they started charging 3% credit/debit card processing fee after updating their cash registers.

“Robber” This is our 3rd time with El Maguey by Ronald Reagan location, the other 2 times was togo and this’s the first dining in! “Top of the line HORRIBLE service from Adrian! ” Unbelievable, please everyone be very careful and watch for Adrian or this server because he is good on ripping his customers off! I definitely advise the management and the owner to pay attention more with the business and your employees. El Maguey puts up really big signs about “Kids eat free on Monday with Purchase of Adult Entree”, we ordered 2 Adults Entrees and 2 kids meals! Guess what Adrian charged us full price! We approached and asked about Monday specials kids eat free? ! So quick Adrian said NO! Only if you ordered from the specialty menu items only! Excuse me, this is absolutely false advertisement or set up to trap people in and ripped us off after words. Very disappointed and will never come back, food ok but Not OK as a business lied and just ripped off their customers! El Maguey needs to stand by their business and takes the ownership, what is this all about? We did 2x previously togo orders with no problem, those servers were following what El Maguey puts on their big window sign about kids eat free on Monday deal things! Not Adrian or not today, obviously something not right! Did today server try to pocket the customers money? Please people watch out SCAMMERS!

Ate here with a friend. Food came out very fast, everything tasted amazingly delicious. (Try the street tacos with cow, meat was tender and not one fatty piece) Service was excellent, checked on us a couple of times and was very nice. Definitely would recommend eating here.

Very disapointed on my first visit. Spouse had shrimp tacos and just average and I had the beef burrito and was very disappointed. Plate was red hot, but burrito was cold and had no taste.
