El Paisano Mexican Restaurant reviews
18El nasty. I ate here for the first time tonight. The food was cold and instantly it made my stomach upset!
The food and drinks were great! The chips were fresh and warm! The salsa had just the right amount of cilantro in it! The beef nachos were fantastic as well as the margaritas I shared with a friend! Everything was reasonably priced! I will be coming back!
The Pollo Veracruz was pretty good; just the right amount of spice. Generally speaking, I would say this is an above average Mexican restaurant.
Poor quality, again, from a usually good place to eat. The cheese sauce formerly enjoyed was watery. The beef was not seasoned at all and the kids decided to eat deli meat instead.
The idea that covid is an excuse for poor cooking is beginning to become really angering. I want quality to come back. I guess it’s too much to ask…. Blame covid for not being able to bring quality food to the forefront. Last time we will eat here. Do better and pay attention to better food. I will not allow any excuse for low grade quality.
Rude staff, dry food, no one to greet you at the door, you have to go find them to get a table.
Go to El Tapatio on Hamton. I've been to other El Paisano location and had a great experience! 1 rude waiter in the whole resturant. I do not recommend!
Was ignored for about 15 minutes to even get a water. No one seemed interested in serving us so we left.
A neighborhood restraint, a bit off the beaten path, It is our goto place for reasonably-priced Mexican in St. Louis. We dined alfresco for safety.
Sat in bar area. Very good food with nice service. Wonderful silver margarita I will recommend
El Paisano is a great, local, Mexican eatery on Watson Road. It’s consistently good both in the restaurant and takeout/delivery. Deliveries are packaged expertly and hot and cold items are separated. Delicious!
We used to go to their original location on Olive years ago when I was in school in St. Louis. Love the newer smaller location that we visited yesterday. Still same great food, a small family owned place, just on the southside now. Nice variety of Tex-Mex standbys and a second menu of more traditional authentic fare. Chips are always hot and fresh and I could eat a bowl of their salsa with a spoon. Do yourself a favor and try at least one of their dishes with the shredded chicken. It is moist and flavored with peppers and onions. I love the cheese enchiladas as well.
I just ordered from this restaurant on uber eats. I’ve eaten there several times, but this was my first time getting it delivered. When I was chewing my chicken chalupa, I realized there was something hard and I pulled out a piece of a chicken bone. When I checked my teeth in the mirror I realized my tooth was chipped. I called el paisano to file an incident report (I had no intention of getting my money back or posting a review about it, I understand that these things can happen sometimes but I wanted to document because I haven’t been to the dentist yet and don’t know the extent of the damage), they asked me if i want my money back and i said I’m not asking for my money back I wanted to file an incident report. I was told that they don’t use chicken with bones so it couldn’t be them. I was asked what I wanted them to do about it to which I responded I want to file a report in case I have costs associated with this issue. When they told me they wouldn’t do anything about it, I said I would post a review if they didn’t document it. So this post is the document
Back in town to visit and my first stop was dinner at El Paisano! Great food, drinks, staff, and atmosphere - as always!
Server was not friendly at all. He seemed annoyed we were there. Queso tasted like milk. The tacos had zero taste as well. Almost seemed like they gave up. I have been there several times before and the food was good. Not sure what happened, but I will probably not go back for a while.
I had the steak fajitas and I felt like they skimped on the meat portion. The salsa is not spicy which is fine if you don’t want something burning your mouth. I however, prefer spicy salsa. Very large portions make for great left overs. Their flour tortillas are very delicious!
Probably Covid related, but the quality of food is really suffering, and I won't be back. They are focused on pickup orders, which I understand, but the food was cold, and the service was straight awful. Bummer, because I used to really like this place.
I've ordered takeout twice from this restaurant, both during lunch time. I live right down the street so it doesn't take me long to pick up the food. Both times I've ordered and gotten the food home my dishes were not hot, as if the food had been sitting out for some time. Cold, congealed cheese on top of lukewarm meat is pretty disgusting. I'm not sure if dinner service is better but I'm not interested in trying it out after the experiences I've had.
Authentic Mexican food? If I wanted crunchy tacos or anything that has ground beef, I would’ve went to Taco Bell! Chile Rellenos? Seriously? No good.
Teach your rude staff to respect not only customers but delivery guys as well. However, I am not sure how respectful they are to customers too. Especially, one guy that works at your bar. Today is February 11. If he is tired, he is better to rest instead of being that rude. Take a note for yourself to ask him to respect everyone.
