El potro mexican cafe, Lee's Summit MO

I have always enjoyed eating at this restaurant. The food is always good. The food tonight was better than usual. I rarely give five stars, but I feel like the earned it tonight. I would recommend.

Good food. Average service. Worth the price? I'd say borderline. I loved the cheese dip though!

El Potro is in my top 3 Mexican restaurants ever. I have never had any less than an amazing experience there.

Moved to MO recently from CO and I was desperately looking for a good place to get Mexican food similar to back home. El Potro is that place! Amazing food and a great atmosphere! I will drive miles out of my way to get this food!

$1.49 shredded beef oh hell yeah. The family had a great time. Queso and salsa with a big bowl of chips. We will be back.

Best tacos in town, only $1.50 on Monday night. Also really excellent jalapeño cream sauce on the enchilada.

Excellent food and service.
Wife and I had lunch, okra enchilada and chili Verde. All was great and will return.

The first time i came here I didn't care for the place but I've been back several times now and I'm changing my opinion. This IS a good place to enjoy Mexican food. I've tried several entrées now and they have all been better then good. The price is appropriate and the meal portions are large. You get your money's worth here.

This was one of the best Mexican Cafe and I got tacos and they were good and I got chips and salsa and it was good he was nice and kind I would love to come back again

I just went for the first time today. 7/20/23. THIS PLACE IS INCREDIBLE! I am SO picky and judgemental when it comes to authentic mexi food. I was FLOORED by this place. Our server, Jilli, was amazing. So so attentive, everything came out perfect, was so nice to the kids, and everything came out so fast! She was so friendly. I truly wish everywhere we ever go out to eat, I have a server exactly like her. She should be teaching classes or training people.
For food- the kids ordered max and cheese and chicken quesadilla. I ordered the Quesabirria tacos. The salsa- so good. You get free cheese dip at every table! The quesabirria was so good. My only thing I’d change is the portion size of the Comsumme. I personally like to have a lot with onion and cilantro so that I can drink it like a soup afterward. It came with fresh avocado, rice and beans! Big portions! The kids ate everything on their plates (not Normal). The kids meals also came with free ice cream! And not just a simple scoop of vanilla. It was rolled in brownie or Oreo texture & topped with whipped cream and sprinkles.
I also ordered the coconut margarita, DROOL WORTHY. I loved it so much, I ordered two. Absolutely perfect experience here. If would give this place 50 stars if I could.

Our entire bill was under $60 and I would willingly pay triple for their food and experience here. They are doing it RIGHT!

Glad they have multiple locations. Beats the heck outta El maguey (El Magooey) by far. Putting authentic Mexican back on the map in Kc

Great quick service! Complimentary queso! The server was very nice. The food was very good!

I go here often. But I was not impressed this time. We got the fajitas. Instead of having the meat thinly slice and sauteed with all the veggies they just took a chicken breast and a steak cut it in Long strips and set it on top. And in the vegetables was zucchini. The chips and salsa was good as always. Just not quite sure what they were thinking with the fajitas

I really enjoyed my meal, service was speedy, I enjoyed the salsa but if you are not a fan of cilantro I doubt you would like it. We also received a small cup of queso dip which was good but it had a skin on top we had to remove.

First time eating there and I was happy about being served queso with the salsa at the beginning lol.but it got the taco salad I think that's what it's called and it was actually pretty good and filling. Good service as well.

3 of us ate there; all 3 entrees had issues-incomplete etc. No post- food delivery table check until I had to find someone to ask for service. The wait person seemed to speak very little English until it was time to sign the check; at which time she spoke English very well.
Another issue - ordered takeout on a separate occasion - ordered takeout - upon arrival they had no knowledge of having received the phone order.
