I would like to thank Ellis Real Estate for making me feel so welcome and always taking care of business when I needed them. Anytime I had a maintenance issue they've always been quick to fix it. Andy has always been a pleasure to talk to, and anytime I had to call for a concern he would take care of the situation right away. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Ellis Real Estate. Thank you guys for making me feel so welcome and always taking care of me when needed.

Generally, as a tenant the experience was fine. We had few issues and when we we did maintenance came out quickly to resolve. Our issues came when we hit one year and went month to month. They tacked on a fee that was not mentioned anywhere. My issue wasn't about the money really, more so that they can get away with just adding fees that were not outlined anywhere and get away with it. Our biggest issue came when we moved out, they held back half of our deposit (a chunk was for cleaning, which we expected as we had a dog - not mad about that). The other part they held back they noted was for unreported water damage. There was some water damage on the ceilings when we moved in and they were aware of this. When we asked about this being held back from the deposit, they tried to gaslight us by telling us that when you flush the toilet upstairs it visibly leaks into the kitchen and we did not report this. This is not true and just an insane story. I cook all the time and we had friends over often. If the upstairs toilet was leaking into the kitchen we absolutely would have told them. They completely made this up but we didn't want to fight with them about it. Just be prepared for them to gaslight you and add fees whenever they want! Otherwise they're fine I guess.

In 15 years of renting, I've never had a better experience than renting with Jake at Ellis. He was kind, transparent, flexible with our lease needs, quick to reach out on the rare occasions that we needed maintenance (I should also note that the maintenance workers were amazing!), and understanding when unexpected events forced us to move early. The home itself is well maintained, charming, and very reasonably priced. This is perhaps the first time I've ever felt sad to leave a rental! If you have an opportunity to rent with Jake through Ellis, I highly recommend.

When I had a tenant unexpectedly move out of my rental, I was overwhelmed & knew I wanted to get it under management moving forward. Andy & Jake were so kind, knowledgeable, & quick to respond. Within 48 hours, they had a photographer out at my property & it listed for prospective new tenants.

Honestly I can't say enough kind things about Ellis Real Estate, especially working with Jake! I moved to KC totally randomly after college, never even visited the city beforehand, working as a full-time server. My best friend and I had horrible luck for about two months finding the right place to live, but upon meeting Jake, he told us that his entire motivation as a landlord was to create outstanding experiences for tenants in KC and to help them fall in love with the city. I've told so many people that story because it's such a testament to how genuinely kind, understanding, helpful, attentive, and generous the people behind this company are!
