Outside of this hotel being extremely outdated with what appears to be the original carpet, furniture and fixtures, the service was excellent.

Rooms were dated and the ac had to be turned down to about 68° so you didn’t feel sticky from the humidity.

We like to staycation here once a year or so. There are probably nicer, newer hotels at a similar price point in the area, but we're incredibly charmed by this mofo.
Some rooms smell a little smoky? Oh yeah.
Hot tub's always packed? Yep, but ew! Just say no to any public hot tubs.
Catch a weekend when breakfast is overrun by ten million little kids about to play baseball/softball/volleyball/soccer all day, so they need to EAT UP? Absolutely. But that would be every single weekend of the year. You can wait 'em out, or go to any number of places to eat within walking distance.
Could this hotel be haunted? God, I hope so.
It's got character to spare and great views. Gorgeous lobby, kinda slow elevators but you get cool lobby views with those, too.
Lots to do in the area besides hang around the hotel, so I say pick this one! Lock your vehicle, don't loiter around after midnight, and chances are you'll have a really pleasant stay.

Hotel staff were great, very friendly. Hotel is across the street from a hospital. Kept my boyfriend and I up at night due to sirens from ambulances. If you choose to stay here, request a room on the opposite side and that might be better. Location was great regarding ease of getting to and from restaurants. Room and hotel in general is extremely outdated. Carpet in our room had stains. Decor is not worth spending $150-300 a night (I paid $708 for 2 nights due to Taylor swift being in town). Bathroom was smaller than my powder room at home. Sink was in the bedroom which was just weird and very 90’s. Elevators had damaged buttons and carpet. It honestly just looked ratty. Didn’t eat breakfast there since it was only open 6am to 9am which is super early to close up breakfast compared to other places I’ve stayed that keep it open until 10 or 11. We were given drink tickets to use at happy hour but didn’t have the opportunity to use them due to our schedule. Bar closed at 10pm, again super early. Pool closed at 9pm, so same thing there. This is a fine place to stay if you really don’t care about the aesthetics or need to sleep multiple people in a suite to save money. Otherwise, go with a newer hotel. I voiced some of these concerns to the manager and was given 20K Hilton points, which was appreciated.

Horrid. Blood stains and diarrhea stains, rust, cobwebs, mold and smells. I checked in late with my toddler and didn’t have the energy to demand a refund and find a new hotel. Homeless people wandering in the parking lot, hand prints on the headboard, dirty hot tub, busted sauna, the only thing that was nice was the gym, because no one uses it. Rooms smelled like weed and smoke, everything was slightly damp. It needs to be ripped down and rebuilt. Was promised security overnight and didn’t see any, broken down car in the parking lot, busted elevator buttons, dust on the drapes, dirty moldy window, balcony is sealed.

Staff was great but they don’t stand a chance to win the battle against the conditions it is in.

The staff at his hotel was wonderful. They were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the rooms were run down and dirty. The first room I was given smelled heavily like smoke. The next room had bleach stains on the carpet, torn curtains, a scratched up door, windows covered in handprints and a dirty bathroom. The air conditioner was so loud it made it difficult to sleep. I have always had luck with Hilton properties but this one is long overdue for a remodel.

Pros: It was a nice hotel. The breakfast was good and had a good variety. The beds were super comfortable. The showers had shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. We got 2 free drinks per adult (there is a list of free drinks you can choose from, they honestly weren't the best but they were free atleast) they had complementary snacks (chips, carrots and dip) they have a mini store where you can purchase snacks and some otc medicines. The staff was friendly
Cons: The interior is pretty dated. Our tvs were very outdated and the picture was fuzzy. The elevators took about 5-10 minutes and were packed. The pool was nice but extremely crowded. The hot tub was filled with little kids so we couldn't really use it.

The location was great. Next to the outdoor mall area with a plethora of amenities. The room was so-so with the couch pillows having rips and the showerhead dripping, but otherwise the room was good. Informed the front desk of the issues on my last day. Hopefully they fix the issues.

I'd give it 4 stars on its own merits and price, but I've stayed in enough Embassy Suites to expect better. Rooms were comfy enough and quiet except for the massive hospital across the street and the associated 24 hour issuance of blaring sirens. Also not sure I'd want to walk at night in that area, which is 5-10 mins by foot from lots of restaurants. Staff were phenomenally friendly and helpful. The "restaurant"/bar served only the appetizers side of its menu, and even then not all appetizers on its menu were available. It then closed an hour early, so we couldnt get drinks with the dinner we Ubered in. Breakfast was decent, though. Parking was expensive and unnecessarily awkward checking out. The building is old and visually a cool concept with some real character, but in dire need of remodeling. On the whole, the hotel felt a bit run down and out of keeping with the high standard I've come to expect with Embassy Suites. Also, we brought our dog and were pleased to find a lot of nice park to walk him in right next door.

Rooms were generally clean but could use some minor plumbing repairs to de-clog sinks and tubs. TVs in rooms are old and fuzzy so dont plan on watching a moving. The breakfast features omelets, bacon, etc. Pool area is nice and there is a small arcade and pool table for kids. Ask for a room facing away from the hospital or youll be up all night with noise from the ambulances and firetrucks. Location is a 15 min walk to the Plaza. Parking is $21 per night (not sure why they charge anything for guests! It seems like an excessive charge).

This is probably the worst hotel experience I've had. And I'm surprised I have to write a review, especially this being an Embassy Suites. As a Hilton partner, I expected much more. Like another reviewer said, not more than a week ago, as soon as you walk in, you are bombarded with the smell of chlorine. As you continue, though, the entire hotel is dingy and very outdated. The rooms are okay. The only good thing is they're pretty spacious. But when you started looking around, I noticed almost all the wall outlets were crooked, the shower knob was broken, and the furniture had stains. This place is in dire, dire need of renovation, and general maintenance and updates.
Honestly, what set my opinion about this place is apparently the pool is dog friendly, and the dogs love to try and get into water. Hopefully, no one in the busy pool was allergic to dogs because it was completely unhygienic. The kids that were in the pool and staying there were out of control. These kids were doing cannonballs into a hot tub full of people and screaming and running around the lobby. There is no decorum from the guests that stay here.
Also, they charge $20 for you to park in the lot around the hotel. First time I've ever had to pay for parking like that in any city I've stayed.
I'd leave a 1 star review, but business that do reviews can filter them out ans I want people to be aware. I will not be returning nor recommending this specific Embassy Suites.

Thus was difficult to maintain 3 stars, close to 2 stars.
Location & property are great, but the building is desperately in need of maintenance, updating & care.
The brights spots were cleanliness & breakfast.
Also, I would suggest the front desk direct housekeeping to available rooms to clean as opposed to randomly knocking on doors.
Our stay was going to be a 4 star until our morning experiences.
We checked in mobile. As a Diamond member, I was not afforded parking & was posted (app) that we had 3 snacks & beverages in room. We checked in after the evening reception & there was no snack or beverage offered to us.
Rooms: TVs & system are straight out of 1993. Old analog system, bad resolution, & 1 remote for 2 TVs. Our sink fixture was wobbling, almost coming loose from the counter, stains on the carpet, & the fridge (Danby) too small for anything even a water bottle, & was frozen with a block of ice on top. This needs replaced.
The building is a well done older building with plenty of spaces in the lobby. There are small elevators making stairs a necessary egress, but the stairs are confusing and quite frankly wrong. One set took us from the 4th floor to a landing with hand written signage that said "employees only" on the wall, the 2nd floor door leads to a kitchen. 1st floor to an emergency exit. I tried the next "exit" stairway which leads to a locked 2nd floor (illegal) & 1st floor emergency exit. How are guest supposed to go downstairs?
And why do guests pay parking here? There is nothing special about the parking lot.
Finally, our morning. I had breakfast which the bright spot was the omelet station. Great chef! If only the cook matched the rest of the staff.
I returned to our room to have housekeeping knock on our door before 10: 00am & a second before 11: 00. TWICE. Why? Do they not know which rooms are occupied? The one was just before I was going to shower & prepare to leave. I had to get dressed to check the door again. This was annoying. I requested late checkout both due to the interruptions & the wasted time finding stairs & low water pressure. The desk responded that I had until noon. AGAIN, after 11am housekeeping knocked. Doesn't the desk relay late checkouts to housekeeping?
Lastly, our receipt is wrong. We confirmed at $258 and were charged $280.
Not staying again.

I definitely should have taken a look at the reviews first. It is definitely outdated so don't expect things to be completely in tact. Overall it's clean, surprised that there was two TVs. However, it was probably the cheapest they could get and only one remote lol. I had to use the bathroom downstairs with my toddler and there's no changing table in the bathrooms. I took her a tub afterwards and the tub didn't really drain. It took a while. Under the impression that they do the bare minimum to maintain the building. Frayed and stained carpet, visible rust etc the list goes on with this old building, the broken elevator button should have been my indicator. Can't help but notice the humidity in the rooms, every thing feels damp.

I have been coming to Kansas City every year for the fourth, prior to my last stay I would’ve say this was my favorite hotel. However, my prior stay was one of my worst hotel experiences. There were two staff members who I would say were stand out stars however, I was constantly dealing with rude front desk, staff members at this hotel. My car was broken into at a hotel garage where I was told there was security and I had to pay $22 to park per night.

This hotel is gorgeous and full of charm, in a great location, has a gym, a bar, a restaurant, free breakfast, free happy hour drinks, free snacks, on-site security, an arcade, a sauna, a hot tub, and two indoor heated pools Our room was clean and very spacious. The entire staff is amazing. We loved it here. I'm a single mom that reads reviews with respect for whether or not to stay at a hotel. I'm also one that leaves them. This is a great hotel.
