Evelyn's House, Creve Coeur MO

Our brother, S. Youngblood, had been in and out of hospitals and so called skilled nursing facilities for 5 months before being placed on hospice, November, 2023. We are a family of strong faith. To God be the Glory, there was one bed available, at a place called Evelyn's House, and was highly recommended from the hospital staff. We were grateful that he got that bed. Evelyn's House in my opinion is an understatement and I prefer Evelyn's House (of Angels). The pictures and video on the website are true, and accurate. I couldn't believe it. The House is kept immaculately clean at all times, the rooms are suites. Beautiful modern furniture, and bathrooms. There are big windows to look at nature, and access to sit outside on the semi private patios and porches. Spacious kitchen facilities are available to families, and 24 hour secured access to your family member. The staff was like nothing I had ever seen. They cared not just about the patient, but the family as well. Fresh cut flowers, hand made cards for holiday occasions, and they even had a small Christmas tree with lights, and mini ornaments placed in my brother's room. Everyone on staff, doctors, nurses, housekeepers, and volunteers always had a positive and compassionate attitude and were friendly. I never noticed any issues with lack of staffing. If there were, you would never know. Many times I felt as though we had private duty nurses on staff, because of their attentativeness to our needs. Spa baths, fresh clean shirts for him to wear (we didn't bring any personal items for our brother). The pillow cases and blankets were of good quality and had different themes, everyday. The nurses and doctors were always available and made sure that our requests, to keep our brother comfortable, peaceful and pain free, exceeded our expectations. Our brother was a big lover of Soul and R&B music and and enjoyed playing records from the 60/70's Era. The staff took the time to find a station on YouTube that played soul music, from that Era continuously, with a Screensaver of a record player. Everytime I visited, the music was playing. We were very blessed for our brother to be in Evelyn's House
(of Angels) for the last 16 days of his life. Evelyn's House (of Angels) gave our brother and our family peace of mind and healing. We will forever be grateful to the people that established this Hospice Safe Haven. Thank you to all of the Angels at Evelyn's House!

My father in law was at Evelyn’s House for less than 12 hours before he passed. But I think he felt safe to pass because of how comfortable and cared for he was in their care. I will never regret our choice to have him moved here. The nurses that cared for him were so kind and caring. They were so gentle. The nurse even assured us he was in the room with him when he took his last breath, and I am so grateful for that. This is a top notch place. Thank you so much, from the family of Rodney B.

The campus is beautiful and comfortable. Our favorite thing was the beautiful gardens outside my dad’s room and the ability to wheel his bed out a back door in his room. He loved spending time with family in the shade.
Our last day we had a nurse who was not well trained in the care of an end of life patient. It made our last hours very stressful. The rest of the staff was amazing and wonderful to work with.
Over all I would recommend this facility, but always be your loved ones most fierce advocate!

Beautiful place for my grandma to spend her last days. Overnight nurse Kelly was amazing. So kind. Place is incredibly clean and all of the staff are caring and sweet.

My family was blown away with the care my mother received at Evelyn’s House. The staff was caring and compassionate throughout her stay. The volunteers were phenomenal. Ann provided beautiful floral arrangement. The facility itself is very peaceful and serene. Kimber the music therapist and the chaplains really provided comfort. I would give you 10 stars and it wouldn’t be enough. Many thanks from the family of Marion H!

The passionate staff made a hard situation bearable. Lots of mental health programs for families available. The music therapy was such a special time and create a wonderful memory for us.

This place is full of racists. Would give 0 stars if I could. HR needs to really go into this facility and review their practices. I never seen a minority nurse on day shift when I visited the facility. I am a nurse that worked out of bigger hospital systems in the Chicagoloand area (Northwestern, UIC, Trinity) and I am truly appalled in what I have seen while visiting this facility. BJC Evelyn’s House is not recommended if you or your family need hospice care.

December 7th of last year was the most difficult day—it was the day that Evelyn House called to tell me that my dear husband Scott passed away. We all knew what to expect when he was admitted into hospice, but to see his life declining every day for eight days was very painful.

Our children and I sat with him and played his favorite music, hoping he would give us a sign of being present, but that never happened. There were many very sad moments, but to see him in perfect peace in the EXCELLENT care of Evelyn House’s compassionate staff was comforting through those long days and nights. Thanks so much Evelyn House staff and volunteers for your outreach and support. We really appreciate the quality of your care.
