Four Muddy Paws, St. Louis MO

The only reason I'm writing this review is because it is something that's been bothering me for a bit. We have a wheaten terrier that will be five in January. The only groomer that he's ever been to is Becky at Four Muddy Paws. She is amazing and Farley loves her and is excited to see her every time.
That being said we were given notice that Becky would be sharing her time between locations in the square and Edwardsville Il.
We live in the square and have bought everything for our dog locally at 4MP. We have been a buy local family since we got our dog. So when we were told that all of our grooming appointments that we had scheduled with Becky for the rest of the year had to be canceled it was a complete shock!
We were told we could still use Becky but we would have to drive to Edwardsville for those appointments.
I can't believe that after five years of loyalty to a local business that, that's the way this was handled!
So now we are on the mission of trying to find a groomer that has been nothing but a waste of time. Being a business owner myself there probably should of been better way of communicating and not just a text saying " I have to cancel all of your appointments for the rest of the year".
Truly disappointed with this great asset to our neighborhood and would expect a little more professionalism.
So now we will continue to look for a qualified groomer and have to travel out of the way for the specialty food that 4MP worked with us to get his diet correct.

After buying pet food from mostly chains around the area, I wanted to support a local business. In addition to their grooming and self grooming services, they had a wide selection of dog food, friendly & knowledgeable staff, a cute store and parking was easy. I'll be back!

Staff is not friendly and borderline rude. I was excited to bring my dog I explained that I had just adopted him and I haven't had a dog in a long time or ever been to a place where I'd be giving the dog a bath myself. I did have a lot of questions but it felt like I was somehow annoying the staff. There were a lot of random people of the same age as the employees hanging around the store so maybe I was "interrupting". If they want to hangout with friends at work it doesn't matter to me but they should at least be polite and help me out while they're on the job. I was given instructions for the bath very fast and the employee was using words I didn't even know. So I was pretty confused.
I was never asked if I had more questions or anything. Another customer and their dog were brought back and put right next to my dog bath area even though all the other baths were empty, and we both had big dogs. It was ridiculous and cramped for no reason. On the website it says "We have designed four waist-high dog wash bays at different heights so we can accommodate pets (and people) of all different sizes. There’s no kneeling or stooping here! " I am tall but I was put on the bath at the end with the lowest drying section and I was extremely cramped due to being placed directly next to the other customer in between them and the wall/window. It was physically very uncomfortable. Checking out- same experience with a different employee just rude. The store was slow so they had plenty of time to be at least polite.

2 stars because they sell good treats and other products Basically for convenience and reasonable price.

This place is awesome! The lady inside helped me get my dog into the store and bathtub. He's a handful! She explained everything to me and helped me get him back in the car! Thank you so much!

We bought a small harness for Max our Yorkie.

Had my English retriever groomed by Becky today and she did an awesome job! The quality of her work was superb, she asked a lot of questions up front to get everything just right! She's super conscientious, made notes to be able to duplicate it next time, was super responsive, great with my dog and got him in very quickly. Becky is excellent so you're in good hands!

Came in to wash my dog quickly staff was helpful and kind lots of great food options for your pets!

We fed our 3 dogs a pretty basic kibble diet, until my 6-year-old boxer-pittie mix was diagnosed with cancer and given less than 2 months to live. In our despair and search for some way to beat that death sentence, we found Four Muddy Paws.

Not only did we find a whole different world of carefully-selected, healthy pet products there, we met knowledgeable staff, some fighting their own dog cancer battles. What we learned from those employees completely changed our approach to feeding and caring for all of our pups.

This place - and their people - are an absolute game changer. Thanks to Four Muddy Paws, our boxer-pittie mix, Rooster will turn 12 in August!

I have heard amazing things about this place but personally did not have a good experience. I had a scheduled appointment for a nail trim for my rescue pitbull mix who is dog-reactive (which I cleared with them before making my appointment). The store was empty of other dogs and my dog is extremely human friendly and gentle, however my dog was handled very roughly despite showing no behaviors at all. The groomer also so graciously reminded me that if an off-lead dog approached her and she fought, she would get put down. I am not sure if it was preemptive management of her reactivity (despite her not reacting), judgement due to her breed, or time constraints, but because of the manhandling she was very shell shocked and scared during her trim.

I am sure their products are great. I have no doubt that people with easy dogs with no baggage have good experiences here, but for those of us with dogs with quirks and "scary" breeds, we may be better off going elsewhere. This is not to bring them down, I just want people in the same boat as me to be informed. Not everywhere is able or willing to handle all dogs and that's fine. I will be sticking to my vet or certified fear-free, force free businesses.

Online it says last bath 1 hour before close get there at 5: 50pm and was turned away then get told I need to be here 5: 30 for the last self bath. Changed your website or post it on the door drove all the way here and had to turn around. I try to shop local and support small businesses but it’s moments like this when people don’t wanna work or don’t want you in the store because it will make them take more time to close but i wouldn’t have have if your policy was 90 mins before close but you tell me I have 6 mins to wash my dog. Who really needs a bath after having 2 knee surgeries in 3 months and is 90lbs so getting him in and out the car for nothing made this all even worse. All I want is the owner to tell them to be better, because one good experience can make all the difference to someone’s day, week or month.

Update: had a few emails with the owners and they have assured me this won’t happen again (getting told different times) and they will re-communicate self bath time policies with its employees.

I ordered pup cakes for my dogs, and they were decorated so well! Everyone was very friendly. Lots of treat options!

We just adore this place! My pup stops outside every time we pass wanting to go in. Wonderful staff, great selection of toys, treats, food, bones, supplies, etc. Their bath stations are also awesome and super reasonably priced.

I love the variety of alternative toys treats and chews as well as food. The employees are very very nice.

I called before hand, they were really nice. I felt very welcomed, needed help finding something for my female pit’s UTI & a new food to mix with her brown rice. 2-3 days later & what he recommended worked & the food is doing great w/ her stomach & coat.

Everyone here is so knowledgeable and helpful. You can tell they love animals. They always recommend things that their own pets love and always give my baby girl treats
