Gallerie Apartments, Kansas City MO

The Gallerie team is nothing but accommodating, helpful, and personable! I had a neighbor with a noise issue, they came to the rescue. I had an issue that I needed some help with (as it was technically against their protocol), but in my hard times, they were extremely patient. Merrit, Andrew, and the rest of the Gallerie team are the best and really make you feel "at home"! What a wonderful place to live.

If you see the "racist" neighbor complaint from a few weeks ago, that was probably me. I am not racist nor do I hold anything against my neighbor for who they are, but a dog barking routinely at 5am is ridiculous. I guess I could be racist against dog breeds, or I might just have some standards and/or conscious of noise my dog makes for the people surrounding me. Who's to say!

Please do not ignore the negative reviews. Do not rent from here. I ignored the negative reviews due to the nice amenities and updated units. HOWEVER: Lack of security and safety at this apartment is HORRIBLE. I lived here for a year, and two weeks after moving in, my car was stolen. My roommate’s car was also broken into AND her mother’s car was stolen. Videos from the security cameras do not exist. The garage door was broken over 75% of the time I was paying $75/month. There have been multiple building break ins as well with no communication from staff or management. Security is NEVER present and will not answer calls or return after you finally get a hold of them. I cannot recommend anyone to rent from this complex.

I moved in not too long ago and Andrew, Merrit, and Mikya have been incredibly helpful and kind. Even the maintenance staff I've met were awesome. I'm excited to live here!

I have a racist neighbor and I have 6 year old kid who is now traumatized because of him. Sent an incident report to the management and they didn't to anything about it.

Shaky start when it comes to interacting with management. Over the 18 months that my wife and I stayed there, the entire experience was entirely pleasant. The maintenance crew was quick, efficient and friendly. The leasing agents were helpful and accommodating whenever they could be. The location is phenomenal and the community overall is great.

Outside of the garage not having working cameras to avoid car breaking and theft - the Gallerie is great if you are low on money and don’t want to pay rent! My ex roommate got evicted July 12th (I was no longer living there) and never showed up to both court dates, the lease even ended 2 weeks ago and NO EVICTION has been made. This is going on 4 months later. The complex does not care and is in no hurry to take any action. Have fun. But be careful because when other people move into your apartment without consent they also won’t help you and can not be held liable to paying the lease! Good luck trying to contact police too!

I have had packages stolen from package room multiple times, they say there’s nothing they can do about it. If you live in a 3 bedroom they’ll only give you 2 parking passes so one of you has to park on the street and you’ll get towed - but don’t worry, they aren’t liable. Hallways smell like absolute garbage. Door locks can only be locked with a deadbolt so if you have a roommate you’ll constantly be locking each other out. If you don’t lock it, you’ll get broken into because the building is very unsafe. They have no since of urgency with repairs. I’ve had broken appliances for weeks and no AC for days. They don’t care. Worst place to live in Kansas City. Just simply stay away. It doesn’t look like the photos.

Do not rent from here! Vehicles are continuously being broken into, specifically due to the garage door frequently being broken. There is supposedly security but when the garage door is broken there is no security posted to ensure that only authorized vehicles are entering the garage.

If you do not own a vehicle this is a great place as it has an amazing location and beautiful units! The maintenance team is also prompt and friendly.

My boyfriend and I came to tour the place over the weekend and had a great experience. The leasing agent was very friendly and answered all of our questions!

This is tough to write. Ive lived here for two years and I've genuinely enjoyed my apartment and the location. The maintenance staff and valet trash employees are all incredible people. The complex has so much potential.
The reason I write this review is due to the security issues at the complex and the parking garage. While there is available 24/7 security they are not on site and you have to call them and wait for someone to come. There are a good amount of females who live on their own at this complex. I cant imagine how terrifying it would be if something happened to them. It is incredibly easy to access inside the complex from multiple places around the building due to either not having a gate or the gate being easily passed through. The parking garage has a door while this is convenient, it has been broken more than fixed leaving it wide open. The residents live in a constant state of fear of their property being destroyed. It is a huge risk. This complex is at high risk for crime. While my two years here there have been break-ins inside the resident units of men trying to get to women, there was a man who had shot someone at crown center and accessed INSIDE the complex while police swarmed the complex looking for him, packages are stolen regularly, vehicles have been stolen, residents don't take pick up after their animals, the halls and stairwells are full of trash/feces I could keep going. Just last night alone, there were 7 vehicles that were broken into. Lately there was a women who drives a mustang that parks right behind the gate who was also caught on camera trying to access vehicles in the garage. Safety is a huge concern here. Please take this into consideration. The Gallerie is not interested in additional security measures. We as residents have been asking for a long time with little to no luck. Like I said it's tough for me to write but its time.

Highly irritated with the car break-ins and nothing being done about it. Come outside and whole car has been ran through everything stolen. Even tried stealing the whole car. If you’re new and you live here AVOID paying for parking because you will come out to your car broken into multiple times and nothing will be done about it. All the office says is to call the police. The police won’t do anything, you won’t get your stuff back. Highly disappointed resident.

Update as of 8/15/23
Recently, a shooting occurred at Crown Center. The shooter then ran to the Gallerie and was able to enter the courtyard due to the negligence of management to fix the locked gates (despite multiple complaints from residents). The Gallerie has yet to address the events that occurred with residents and will dismiss concerns of residents who ask about the events that occurred. This is not the first incident that the Gallerie has refused to address either. Last year, there was a man seen in the hallways of the Gallerie going through each hallway opening doors that were unlocked (some of which due to negligence in repairing the door locks despite resident complaints).

Not safety related, but they also do not let you opt out of services you do not use. You are charged for valet trash services, but must place your trash out between 6: 00 p.m. And 8: 00 p.m. If you work during those hours, you are short of luck and will be fined. This would not be as much of a problem, but the promised trash rooms on each floor have been locked for over a year.

It is honestly a shame to have seen this place progressively go so far downhill. I used to love living here, but now I spend as little time here as possible due to safety concerns. Hopefully, management will figure out something to get this place turned around.

Update as of 12/13/22: I would highly recommend to not live here until the Gallerie can make safety a priority. For the past month, the garage doors have not been working, and someone had their entire car stolen today. When questioned about it, the Gallerie hides behind legalities and claims that they cannot ensure the safety of their residents. Very low quality for what they try to charge you, so be prepared to pay $50 a month for a "secure" garage in which the doors are never working. It is also possible to get to any floor of the garage without a key fob, which contributes to constant car break-ins. Gallerie also continues to implement security cameras in the garage, claiming that the KCPD told them they would not deter crime, which KCPD states is a blatant lie.

Original review: Overall, have enjoyed my time living at the Gallerie, but I have noticed several big flaws in the past year or so having to do with security.

First, there is an elevator in the garage that essentially anyone who feels the desire can have access to. There is no key fob to swipe into this elevator, and it goes to every residential floor, so all it would take is for someone to just wait and follow a resident into the building. It really is not that surprising that there have been nearly weekly car break-ins and stolen bikes when this issue has not been resolved.

Additionally, while I commend the Gallerie for partnering with Metro Public Safety, they refuse to install cameras in the parking garage, stating that it "doesn't deter crime". This is very difficult for me to believe, considering that I highly doubt that people would be as likely to break into a car or steal a bike if they could be easily identified and reprimanded because of video evidence.

Finally, I do not feel like maintenance responds adequately to these complaints. Many residents have complained about these issues frequently, and they are met with dismissive messages such as, "We are working on it" without any further explanation. That would be fine if the Gallerie was actually working on resolving these issues, but the issues are never resolved in a timely manner. For example, the lights in one of the stairwells have been out for months, and they still have yet to be replaced, despite the Gallerie "working on it. "

The front desc staff are unprofessional.
The designs on the website are wrong and confusing. I choose Bricolage design, which has balcony on the website, then I was shocked that my unit doesn’t have balcony. When I faced them, they said you should have told us from before. I am very frustrated and displeased.
If you have other options, don’t come here please

Maintenance requests have been handled very quickly. They are great about communicating if they have to come back, order a part etc.

Maintenance is always great, office staff is typically pretty easy to communicate with and quick with responses. Downfall, a lot of thefts in the parking garage that you pay to park in, nothing really is done about it. No added security or cameras and a lot of the gates are damaged or easy to force open. Other than that, great downtown community! Very close to everything!
