Garden View Care Center at Dougherty Ferry- Skilled Nursing & Memory Care

Do you love your family or friend in need of skilled nursing? So will they!

The place is clean, stocked, and usually well kept. Nursing management is trash. Worked there before and after management changed. Would pick up many shifts and offer to work 16 hours only to be told I was not doing my job and literally got into an argument over something small I did with another CNA. All this because she got called into work, you can say “no” if you don’t wanna come in? Dietary and restorative are great! Nursing staff is 50/50, but management sucks bad AFTER the management change. The higher ups before hand were pretty cool.

I wanted to make sure I put my time in before leaving a review so that I could leave an honest one. I started at Garden View as the Director of Social Services about 2 years ago and eventually took on the role as the Director of Admissions. What I love most about Garden View is the way our long term staff and managers have such a heart for the residents. They have a passion for what they do and it shows. Our Administrator Courtney has been in the field since she was 16 yrs old and has worked in about every department which I think is so helpful as an Administrator. Her love for the senior community shows and trickles down through every department. No place is perfect but any concerns are addressed right away and with the resident and family in mind. We strive to make it a place where we would be comfortable bringing our own parents and I can say that without a doubt I would bring mine here. I love being the first contact to help assure families in this difficult transition. I have developed close bonds with our families and residents here and they are always an encouragement on the rough days. I look forward to increasing my knowledge about dementia and this stage in life for seniors and using it to bring comfort and a little sunshine to their days as they do mine.

The staff is professional, loving and caring, all with a little spunk and always with encouragement.

Dad came to GardenView for a 5 or 6 week rehabilitation.

While in Rehab, he became familiar with the staff and when it came time to choose a new residence, we thought GardenView would be a nice choice. As he was already in a place we all approved and could see the care he was receiving. After looking at a few of their apartments, Dad chose one that fit him perfectly. Garden View is a smaller facility where everyone knows everyone.
Most of Dad’s rehab caregivers were able to continue with him and we felt it was important to hold onto those familiar faces.

The communication between GardenView and the resident’s family is professional, not to mention the Care Plan Meetings.

The environment is well maintained and clean. Private visiting rooms available for families, along with courtyard and outdoor patios.

Activities are always going on. Dad enjoys the Mens Club, afternoon matinée movies, singing within GardenView and outside entertainment, as well.

Dad is able and encouraged to leave Garden View for family get togethers, lunches, dinners, drives, church, doctor appointments, etc. When returning, the staff is always happy to see him.

I can sleep better at night, knowing Dad is being taken care of 24/7

I’ve waited to write this review so I could give enough time to see and experience everything at Gardenview Dougherty Ferry.
If you are looking for a safe, loving, caring place for your parent or spouse look no further. The love and compassion I have seen given to my mom has truly astounded me.

When my dad and I came to the realization that we could no longer care for my mom at home I was nervous and scared about putting her in a memory care facility. I am so thankful to God for Gardenview Dougherty Ferry. Every fear I had was put to rest by the care she has received.

My mom’s dementia was originally misdiagnosed by her GP. As a result the medication we were giving her was actually doing her harm. Very shortly after moving into Gardenview the staff realized things weren’t right. Gardenview’s Geriatric psychiatrist caught the misdiagnosis. She then switched my mom to the proper medication for the form of dementia she suffers from. Within days the difference in my mom was unbelievable. I am quite confident there are very few facilities that would have caught this mistake and taken the time and care to figure it out that Gardenview did.

I visit my mom six days a week and I come at all different times of the day and night. There has never been one time that I have been concerned or disappointed. From the front desk to the nurses, CNT’s, aides and activity coordinators everyone treats the residents as family. Whether I show up early in the morning, during lunch or late in the evening the level of care is always the same, top notch.

Sometimes I sit back and just watch the staff in action. It’s like watching people take care of their own babies. And when your parent, who you love more than anything can’t care for themselves this is the best thing you can ask for. They are truly a family at Gardenview Dougherty Ferry.

I have worked here over a year now and it is a wonderful place. The staff are very welcoming and care very much about the residents. Everyone who enters becomes part of a family, from the residents to the staff to the visitors, it's a very fun and homelike atmosphere here at Garden View. I look forward to many more years here and highly recommend it to everyone.
