Greer Spring Trailhead reviews
6Located 10-15mins outside Alton main street, we almost missed our turn because the sign is not visible enough along the road, you will be instantly welcomed by the tall trees. There is ample parking and trail is well maintained. About half a mile hike before you reach the springs, you will see moss almost everywhere in the ground along the banks. The spring water is clear, the area is clean and the scenery is very charming. I would definitely come back.
Crisp Fall air, sunshine, and nature. Spectacular! Great early morning hike.
Pretty steep walking close to the spring but we'll worth your time to see
It’s a short hike down- less than a mile the hike up is definitely a hike UP. But it was so worth it!
Beautiful hike to a spectacular spring, the second largest in Missouri.
Beautiful spring at the end of a moderate hike. Trail is well marked and starts from the parking area (restroom is available here) and winds down towards the spring. The trip down is pretty easy, just watch your step. Several benches along the way to stop and rest if needed. Once you get to the bottom, go left towards the spring pouring out of the cave or go right to see another spring boiling up from below. Absolutely beautiful water and scenery. Takes a little effort to get to the bottom but definitely worth the trip. Total hike is about 1.8 miles round trip.
