Hairy Elephant Hair Salon for Kids, O'Fallon MO

We've been here a few times now, and each time the people working here have been nothing but kind and patient and they always do an excellent job with my wiggly toddlers hair. They always show him exactly what they're about to use to make it easier on him and as a child who is all about exploration, he loves this. He also loves that the chairs that they have in here and loves to pretend to drive the Jeep while getting his cut! I definitely recommend this place if you are looking to get your littles hair cut because they really do such a wonderful job and my little enjoys going!

We walked in as we were unaware they were appointment only. We were told they don’t take walk-ins. The lady just continued to stare at us. When we asked if they had any availability for an appointment today, she said no… and continued the stare. There was no effort to make and appointment or discuss availability. To say she was extremely rude would be an understatement.

We had Ms. Haley for my 3 year old daughter's first haircut. My daughter definitely came in a bit afraid, especially of getting her hair washed. Ms. Haley was so kind and patient with her, And reassured her the whole way. She worked very well with my child turning every which direction looking at all the things to see in there, I was certain there was no way the haircut wasn't going to come out crooked.how could someone cut a straight line with their client moving so much? ! Much to my surprise the cut turned out great! Very satisfied and will definitely be going back next time!

They are always so kind and do a great job! I recommend the first haircut package they have as well. It's a really cute keepsake ️

I've taken my 14 month old son there twice and Carrie has cut his hair both times. She is so fantastic. She is sweet and makes him comfortable. His hair always looks amazing and we both leave very happy with the results of our visit. I can't recommend them enough, but especially Carrie!

Yes, they have some toys for the kids to play and some kid specific chairs for the haircut. Thats is all.
My “commonsense” thought was that when someone comes to a kid who they never met, they come in with a playful gestures so they can create that bond with the kid (especially with someone who is <2 years old) and that too this is a kids speciality hair saloon. The stylist just came in with a pair of scissors, put the drape on and started cutting the hair. Obviously the 20 month old freaked out and started crying. He was so afraid and cried so bad the he could hardly breath. He was moving around a lot and he but his tongue and started bleeding. The stylist says, “if you are ok, i can keep going” when i asked if we should stop. What kind of a place is this? Am I the unlucky person to get this stylist to work with my kid or is my “commonsense” thinking wrong and I had too much expectations?
My request is, charge a little more, but be patient and take time to get the kids comfortable with you before touching them. Its a kids speciality hair saloon! You cant be a regular hair stylist for this job. You have to be good with kids.

Carrie did my 3yr son Oliver's hair for me. I myself am a licensed working stylist but with my son being autistic, my tools are too loud and vibrate too much for him that he gets over stimulated. She was soo patient and also helped soothe him while he was upset and having a moment. I appreciate you Carrie for everything you did! You my dear are a true rock star! Will be back to see you!

The receptionist was very rude and unaccommodating. First of all, I'm aware of their late policy. If you will be 10 minutes late, they cancel your appointment and you must reschedule.

That is fine, except this location is on Baldwin. You know what I mean.

I called ahead to say that we might be a few minutes late, beyond the 10. Instead of working with me and accommodating me, she was rude, mentioned their policy and only offered to reschedule.

My son has special needs and has always been comfortable there. It is unfortunate that they could not fit him in, even though it was only 15 minutes (again, Ballwin. 7 minutes to go a MILE).

Upon arrival I was once again met with rudeness and a reminder of the policy.

I'm aware of it. Now you are aware of losing a customer.

I made an appointment for a Monday and drove all the way out to the location in O’Fallon only to find out my appointment had been moved to the next day. I had the original confirmation that stated my appointment was for Monday. The manager stated they didn’t know how it happened but wouldn’t be able to fit me in. That was it. No apology for the error they made and no effort to be accommodating considering I had taken off work to take my baby for his appointment. I cancelled my appointment for the day I had never scheduled and don’t plan on coming back.

2 minutes late, called to tell them about traffic on way, wouldn’t take my appointment because of “policy. ” Rude front desk lady.inconsiderate sadly, gave me the F U face even though I tried to justify. I admit, should’ve taken school bus’ into consideration; however, TWO MINUTES. C’mon.

I have a daughter on the spectrum. Today I took her to another salon and she experienced a meltdown. We ended up having to leave in the middle of the haircut. I called The Hairy Elephant and spoke to Carrie, explained the situation and asked if there was anyway they could help me. She found a way to squeeze me in. From the moment we arrived, Carrie had a very calm and gentle attitude and treated my daughter with so much love. Once we left, my daughter said "this was the best haircut ever! " Carrie took a really bad situation for my daughter and made it wonderful. We are very thankful for her and will definitely be returning in the future.

Loved this place! Our son turns two in about 3 weeks, so I took him to get his first haircut. His stylist, Stephanie, did such an amazing job! He looks so cute. She also did great at keeping him entertained so he actually sat still. And he loved sitting in the cute little fire truck salon chair, too. They have screens at every seat, too, so if your child wants to watch something to keep them entertained they can. I also loved the keepsake certificate with a photo and lock of hair to keep in his baby book. I 100% recommend this place and will be taking my son back for future haircuts.

Great for little ones, especially if they are on the spectrum or have some sensory issues. Shoutout to Christina who took all of 15 minutes to do what took us over an hour at home!

Carrie did my sons first haircut and she did a great job! He was bouncing up and down the whole time she was very patient with him and kind I would definitely bring him here again.

Seems overpriced for the service we received. The lady was nice enough, but the haircut was not very well done.

Amazing patient staff! Our 2.5 yr old screamed the entire time, and still received a beautiful cut. Thank you Ms. Haley, we look forward to coming back!
