Hallmark Visitors Center reviews
14Really cool place to learn about the fascinating history of Hallmark. Lots of cool trinkets to see and you can hold an Emmy, which is awesome. Free to enter. Staff are very helpful. The bow machine was my favorite!
We weren't planning on stopping in to the visitor's center since we have two young kids, but we had some time before we went to Kaleidoscope, so we stopped in. It was a good call!
I didn't expect them to enjoy a spot talking about the history of Hallmark, but there were actually more things for them to look at then I expected! There was a scavenger hunt (which allowed the adults to read some of the exhibits while looking with the kids, which was awesome!), the bow-making machine made our son downright giddy, and several photo ops with Barbie, an Emmy award, etc.
Be aware that it can be a little tricky to find the visitor's center, and the gift shop at the end does not take cash. Also, the movie at the end is super interesting for adults but kids will be bored after about 20 seconds.maybe check it out when you don't have young ones with you.
Very fun experience! The 15 minute movie of ornaments and the bow making machine were my favorite parts. It’s not a large museum and can be easily seen in an hour or so. It is a little confusing to find the museum if you are entering from the mall and involves taking a few winding hallways and walking outside.
We arrived 15 minutes until closing. Curator Tom was so kind, he let us zoom through the rooms, madecbows, took my Academy Award picture and then went outside with us to give us detailed information about the Hall penthouse. I went back on Saturday with no rushing.i highly recommend this for all who visit KV.
Be sure to watch BOTH movies. You'll learn things you didn't know about Hallmark. My favorite was Shoebox Greetings.
Do not miss this FREE opportunity.
Loved this quick stop on our road trip! The kids and I went through in about 35 minutes. Loved the bow maker (it really is quite satisfying to watch), which was the kid’s highlight, as well as all the behind the scenes looks at the history and process of making cards and ornaments. If we would’ve had more time, I would’ve signed the kids up for Kaleidoscope, an open studio for kids next door.
A very well done and comprehensive look at how Hallmark came to be in Kansas City. Beautiful displays. Very inviting staff
We were passing through the town not knowing that this is where “hallmark” started. It’s very cool museum. There was a short film in the beginning. The staff are friendly and helpful. I didn’t realize how far reach of hallmark into modern culture. The shop is very cute. They even have a machine show off how to make a bow ribbon. Very cool place.
Very interesting history. Enjoyed our visit, plus you're in a great part of KC for other exploring.
A bit hard to find. The maps didn’t fully disclose it was IN THE Hallmark building. Really really great place. Thoroughly enjoyed it. I write cards, watch the Hallmark channel so it was even better than I thought it would be
First visit and a great way to spend time learning about some history of KC. Fun to learn and see some of the original artifacts.
Just a spectacular museum. I learned an enormous amount about Hallmark, it's products, and the family that started and guided the company.
This site is pretty dull. There’s nothing that’s interactive and the bow machine was broken when we visited.
Very interesting "museum" that chronicles the history of Hallmark, its founder, and the Hall family's continuing ownership. Make sure to watch the movie! The displays are very engaging and appealing. It took us about 45 minutes to go through it a very leisurely pace. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
