House of Jollof reviews
17Amazing place to be. The restaurant is conducive and the food is amazing. Well it’s my 3rd time here. I recommend
New fav restaurant. Jollof rice is so fire. Their egusi is so fire as well. A must try. They deliver everytime. Very consistent.
I ordered from DoorDash (no comments on service or atmosphere) and the food was delicious. I highly recommend the Egusi and Jollof rice. Everything was well seasoned, hot and flavorful. I foresee myself eating here often.
This is my first time ever trying to African food and is now my go to place if I'm ever craving it. Their fufu is fresh and I love to get their steak and cheese over rice. Definitely recommend.
I just finished eating my goat with jollof rice! It was sooooooo goodI had the fried plantains tooCan’t wait to go back!
Happen to drive past on my way to a new doctor and checked out the menu. Got the fufu and egusi stew, which I hadn't had in about 15 years. And it was delicious! The chicken was super tender, fell off the bone. And the egusi stew, spicy, was just perfect! A bit pricey but since I don't live close, I won't be tempted to do it often (was a bit surprised that the menu said fufu and egusi but then the fufu was an extra $5)!
I have ordered takeout out from here several times and each time the food is amazing! I get the jollof rice with chicken and extra stewed tomatoes on the side, and peanut soup (I add crab legs to my soup at home) with fufu. I highly recommend House of Jollof if you crave traditional African dishes
We’ve never eaten here but they gave us samples and walked us through menu, so awesome. Not to mention the food was so flavorful! Yum! Would take people here forsure!
Absolutely delicious food. Their chicken and Jollof is some of the best I've ever had. Very friendly staff and reasonable prices. Highly recommend.
I don’t review much anymore because I mainly just do TikTok food reviews (@shadezriest) but highly suggest this place. I was informed of this place from a friend and since there isn’t many African food places in STL - I drove from south county to get here- so like 45mins.
The food is full of flavors! I ended up getting mild version of waakye (pronounced way-chee?) rice with chicken - you need to mix both the sauces in and it tasted very nutritious and delightful. My friend got the jollof rice and beef which was great as well- perfectly cooked beef for this type of dish!
The side we got was the fried plantains which were great but I’d say just in general fried plantains are usually good anywhere.
I would recommend this place to anyone near- you will not regret it!
Next time I’m here I will try the goat! Either in goat suya or goat soup!
My roomate took me here and I fell in love with the food! Tasted divine! I got the rice with the chicken! Rice cooked to perfection. Chicken was delicious and the super spicy sauce just added that perfect kick! 10/10
The people there are so nice. Good music and clean restaurant. I came here for jollof rice and another time had the egusi soap and fufu. Really great food my friends all love it here. Best part is I feel like the price is affordable, especially compared to a similar place I had went to. This is the spot and I will be back!
A fee weeks back I left a review and I wasn't so happy. However, these people went over and beyond to correct it and did it with a smile, honor and appreciation. I still thing some form of a side needs to come with the wraps for the price charged.but overall, I'm grateful
I ordered egusi soup and fufu with goat meat not only was the egusi soup horrible but the fufu was old and not prepared properly and there were goat bones and no meat don’t waste your money they are horrible
Update Nov 2023: they really can’t get it right with these plantains. I have ordered numerous times throughout the year, and they are hit or miss with being too ripe, burnt, or under ripe. The rest of the food is extremely good. Today’s batch was hard and unripe. I’d really love transparency.if the plantains aren’t right, don’t sell them.
I Tried House of Jollof for the 1st time today. I ordered Jollof rice with goat, and a side of plantains. The positives: the Jollof and goat were DELICIOUS! The negatives: my plantains were burned (I threw them away after tasting), and I only got 3 chunks of goat atop about 2-3 cups of Jollof rice. In all fairness, my food was presented to me before being bagged to leave, but I didn’t realized the plantains would taste burned. I will 100% go back, but will most likely choose a different protein so I can have more meat/rice ratio, and ask for my plantains to be cooked less. Thanks for the experience.
Went there twice, food is very pricey for what you got, seemed to be cooked before hand and warmed up. We spent over $60 and went and asked the Asian guy for more sauce, he gave us a side eye and stated that they usually charge a dollar for it. $1 dollar over losing a customer? Not very smart. When we paid we left a nice tip but no refills, we put up our own plates. We actually paid for 5 extra sauces. And the place was empty. All aside, the owner is very nice but his worker was rude and unkind.
