Seems like it closes earlier every time I go. Guess the good thing is a lot of parking. Its a pretty messed up parking lot tbh

Sad to feel the decline of a place that was once great, I still enjoyed my walk around but most of the stores seem like they are thrown together.

Not what it used to be. A lot of the stores are closed. I only like to visit Earthbound and Petland.

Security patrols with dogs. Gang graffiti. Maintenance issues are starting to crop up. Way too many store fronts are boarded up. I question the long term survivability of the mall.

July 2023 - 22 store fronts boarded up.
Two anchors stores closed.
Three spots closed in the food court.

It's sad to see the Center now versus what it was like a few short years ago. Only 1 anchor store, many hole filler shops, several vacancies, just doesn't seem like there are any major attention grabbing stores, atmosphere is completely different. Just sad to see

The place is starting to look like Ghost Town. Alot of the stores are never open. Really sad.

Went to the mall to go early shopping for my kiddos and on a couch in the middle of the mall there was two women on a couch kissing each other with hands in each other’s pants! My 6 & 8 year old was exposed when i reported it to the mall staff it took the security 15 mins to come and handle it and the police was not notified mall did not apologize or even acted like this was out of the normal for them. I’m truly disgusted and find this disturbing that their manager i believe her name was Hollie & the ok site security didn’t get his name but he assured me he was the head of independence center security. I was not comforted in this situation nor did i feel like it was handled correctly. I will not be shopping here again and will be notifying independence police department of this situation that happened

My experience was delightful! My son wanted to go to Build a Bear for his birthday and play the arcade games at the mall - done! There was a great variety of games.
The atmosphere was a bit sad with so many stores boarded up and vacant, I truly hope it can come back to life! Everyone we interacted with was pleasant, we would go back if we are ever in the area or close by.

It's definitely a nice place to stroll and shop it's more of a family mall for younger children.

It was my sister's bday. So, her friends and I went shopping to find something to wear for later that night. We all came out with and outfit and shoes to match.

I still like some of the stores here but its only at 50% capacity. We went there on a Friday evening between 6 and 730 or so and it was slow all over the mall. Only a few of the food places were open. Lots of good specialty stores HERE

I wish we can go more often to malls, can see each day more stores close out due to online shopping companies, terns no longer hang out at malls, socializing is now gone

Drove all the way from Liberty to spend the day with my daughter. She desperately wanted to go up on the obstacle course, which states online, is open at 10am. We arrived at about 10: 30. No one was there to operate the equipment.

There was a man behind the desk who said another gentleman would be there in about 5 minutes. He never showed up.

We waited until 11: 15. The first guys left and no one else ever showed up. I called the mall while I was there and security told me the staff works when they feel like and she can't enforce it. Thanks for wasting my time and gas.

Independence center is a decent place to shop if you are looking for some popular retail stores with several others nearby. It has been there for a very long time and I feel that they have done good upkeep on it overall. The mall is fully-enclosed, which makes it comfortable to walk around in any weather. It might be a good option for elderly folks who want to get some exercise and browse some stores. However, I am cautious to recommend it for kids and young families, as the area is not very safe or kid-friendly. There are not many fun attractions or activities for children, and the mall is located around high-crime neighborhoods. I have heard of several incidents of theft, vandalism, and violence in and around the mall. I think there are safer places to go with your family if you want to have fun and feel secure.

Loved the mall. It was quiet and very nice stores. Very kid friendly environment. Would visit again!
