Ixtapa Fine Mexican Cuisine, Kansas City MO

We got here two hours before close, craving Mexican. As soon as we sat down, our server came to our table with an immediately terrible attitude. Whatever, it happens. We order our food and it comes out far quicker than expected. As soon as we take bites of our meals, it's clear that at some point they were frozen. The plates are VERY overpriced. $18 for tacos. Everything was desperately lacking in flavor. Definitely won't be returning.

All their food is excellent. They offer Chicken Mole: hard to find in other restaurants, but it is the BEST BEST you will ever find. We come from Osawatomie to eat it. Give them and it a try. GREAT PLACE.

So the food was really good. I had the Pork Chili Verde. Some of the best I've had in a while. My wife had the enchiladas with mole. She is super picky about the mole and she was a super fan of it tonight. However the appearance inside was run down. Not exactly bad but needs remodeling. Not very kid friendly either.

Ordered the Molcajete for 2! We both were happy with the meal. Chips and Salsa were good. We ask for spicy salsa it had a lot more flavor and heat

This was the most authentic Mexican restaurant I found here in kc Mo, it used to hit home, but I went there today I don’t know if they got different cooks but their food just went down hill. It seems like you can’t customize a plate they want to do it their way. I was really disappointed. Our stomachs hurt after eating here.

After all these years this is still one of our favorite Mexican restaurants in Northtown. Not your basic taco and burrito joint. As they say in their name they serve fine Mexican cuisine. Sorry not to have posted photos but I keep forgetting to take any because the foods so good I can't wait to dig in

I had the street tacos.
Delicious! Very generous portions.beans were so good, I could have just ate a big bowl & been happy. Whole meal great.friendly service. Great prices. The owner himself served me. Great atmosphere

Worse Mexican place ever. Server was ok, I ask which type of drink they have and server told me to get up and look.the place was horrible and dirty. They turn off the music and started cleaning at 945. Arrogant, Poor Management, dirty place. I ask for steak they bright something the lols like ground beef

This is the first time I asked for ground beef and got chicken. I see another comment on here similar to this if you want one type of meat you better check your food before you leave, I don’t like chicken in anything Mexican, but I’m stuck with it since they are closed. However I called the restaurant and they agreed to replace my meal tomorrow.since the restaurant is currently closed until tomorrow.

Ixtapa is one of our staple places when we want to go out to eat! We get the Tacos Tapatíos with chicken and it is so flavorful. We recently tried the tamales for a starter and they were delicious. The waiters are very friendly and we have never had a bad experience here! ️

I visited last night, and I had visited before with better results. I asked for a combination meal, and answered with chicken as my meat after the server asked. Well, I got ground beef. I can live with beef, but perhaps others can not be served the wrong food; especially when the server is told! It wasn't that busy, they were not slammed. Another restaurant that has slid down the ladder in service and attentiveness. They asked if we needed boxes, we both said yes, and they bring one! I'm disappointed. Gratefully there are other places to dine at where they do get it right, every time.

Simply put, this is the worst Mexican I have ever had. Unfortunately there is no way for me to rate this place any lower than a one on this site. Food did not even resemble mexican and for myself, wife and son was just disgusting. Prices were ridiculous. At minimum, recommend you reading a menu in advance. Dirty everywhere, from tables to floors. Nasty bathrooms. I feel like saving the public with this service announcement.

The food and service were very good. The owner gladly customized dishes for us and all the food came out quickly. Pleasantly surprised and the amount and quality of the food.
