Jack Stack Barbecue - Freight House reviews
16Burnt ends were maybe the best I have personally ever had, and the bar staff makes great drinks. Try the local bourbon flight!
Absolute best place I’ve ever been too. The workers are extremely nice, very clean and nice restaurant, very generous with the portions and not expensive at all, the burnt ends are Heavenly, there drink selection is hugely vast, there unsweetened tea is amazing, and most importantly it’s all freshly made. I order the 3 meat burnt ends, turkey, and pulled pork and it was the worlds greatest creation. I HIGHLY recommend going here, I wish there was more Jack Stacks but I understand why there’s only a few around, but also, GET THE CARROT CAKE! I’m not the biggest fan of carrot cake but there carrot cake is my favorite dessert of all time. Love this place!
Get reservations. Food was awesome. Burnt ends are so good. Service was great and cost was reasonable.
This was our first time here. We're from Texas visiting family here. BBQ was really good and the sides were alright. But we've tasted better back home in Houston. Loved the ambiance. Our waiter was fantastic. Bathroom was very clean. We came hungry and left very full and satisfied!
Definitely recommend this restaurant for travelers. Atmosphere was high-end, and the food was AMAZING. We enjoyed the salmon dip, and lamb ribs with garlic broccoli. The meat melted right off the bones and the portions were huge!
The lavender hot tea was a great addition as well.
It's always a pleasure at The Stack. Service was kinda off tonight but the food was Tony the tiger #GREAT
Excellent BBQ and sides. Had the beef burnt ends, pork burnt ends, jalapeño cheddar corn bread, cole slaw, BBQ beans. Did a to-go package for tailgating prior to Chiefs game.
Really liked this place. The barbeque was great, the service was excellent. Very nice experience.
The brisket was so thin the sausage was so thin the Honey Baby ribs mostly bone prices too high for the small portions definitely not satisfied
Made a reservation on open table. Table was ready right on time. Burnts ends for an appetizer was a great choice. Very juicy and tender. Ordered pulled pork Mac n cheese. Loved it! Highly recommend.
Was on a KC top 10 list as #2. No#1 was closed so this is where I went. Really nice restaurant, bartender was awesome, no I'll say outstanding. As for the BBQ, I am in my 60's, from Texas, so I've had my share. I created a 4 meat plate to get a good sampling. I am sorry to say it would not even make my top 20. Dry, dry, dry! Burnt ends, were they yesterday's? Brisket was dry. Ribs were the worst, hard, dry, small and for a place of this caliber, why would they serve the tough piece from the very end of the rack. When that was presented to me I knew right then this was not the right place. Sausage was OK but don't long thin slice it like that. Makes small serving look large. Real BBQ should be the entire sausage and let the customer slice it. Felt like a ripoff. Corn side. OK, beans, I've had way better. I fact take the rack end cut, fine chop it and put it in the beans, not to a customer that just paid top dollar. I did enjoy the cole slaw, fresh, crisp, not sweet and cold but really how can you mess that up. My overall experience was good but I won't return. That was my first time in KC, there has to be better BBQ.
1st time going with 7 others who have been before. Had reservations so went right to our table. Excellent chicken sandwich dinner. We were there for the SpeedwY Kansas Nascar Race.
WOW. Fantastic menu in fantastic. You will definitely great barbecue at this place. Had the wings and they were fantastic. Would recommend requesting a booth.
Delicious food and great service. I got the food to go it was our first time trying it. Will definitely be back! Ribs and brisket are my favorite!
Two of us ordered the Smoked Jalapeño Cornbread, Pork Spare Ribs, Pork Burnt ends w/ beans & cole slaw. Arkansas Topper w/beans & Potato salad.
Overall the food was average. There are several BBQ restaurants in Kansas City that are much better.
The pork ribs weren’t fall off the bone, two of the 4 bones were really tough. The pork burnt ends were good, good flavor. The beans were tasty but they were on the cold side, barely warm. Cole slaw was sweet fresh and crunchy. The Arkansas topper was a chicken breast with a choice of another meat. I chose beef burnt ends. The chicken was thin and flavor was average at best. The burnt ends were meaty and good. BUT the meal was served drenched in BBQ sauce. I could barely taste the meat as there was way too much tangy BBQ sauce that over took the entire meal. It was NOT at all good. It was a big sloppy mess, see the picture. Very disappointing! The potato salad was just ok.
The cornbread was warm and delicious.
The atmosphere is comfortable, the place is clean. Nice selection of tap beer.
Too many better BBQ spots in KC, can’t recommend Jack Stack BBQ. Disappointing.
Our food was amazing and our server Isaac was as well. We had the round up and it had a brisket, pulled pork, short ribs and turkey with BBQ beans, coslaw and a creamy corn dish. There was plenty for three adults. One person had the pulled pork sandwich with fries which she let us all try the fries. They were the best I have ever had. Hope to back this way in the spring.
