Wish they'd have better ground maintenance, mainly brush/weed removal. I ended up with "hogweed" rash and burns all over my entire body! And I was trying to follow a trail, LOVE IT HERE JUST PLEASE CLEAR AT LEAST TRAILS of your not going to do up keep.

Blue springs lake campground is a beautiful little campground but…. Beware, the emergency alert siren went off at 11am this morning. We are from upstate NY, so I ran to the camp host who, amused, told me oh this happens on the first Wednesday of every month … (during tornado season) like I know when their tornado season is…BTW, no emergency alert came on our phones (several apps) and the host explained this is because I’m from out of state. Hmmm.
Having spent most of my adult life near a nuclear power plant, I would never take such a siren lightly. I was terrified! I was truly terrified by this.
We adhere to all of the campground rules and requirements, we read the rules at every campground we pull into so as to be good guests. This notification of scheduled sirens is nowhere. After the fact, we reviewed all local online.gov info and many differing “schedules”. I believe this notification absolutely should be on the rules page (2 pages, by the way of things we shouldn’t do) to inform visitors of this happening and furthermore, what to do in the event it does go off for a true emergency.

Very nice facilities and beautiful scenery deer are plentiful water landscape beautiful sunsets one complaint only was the roads are horrendous in need of resurfacing in the worst way other than that the experience was awesome the Missouri bison and elk exhibit is an awesome place to introduce your children and yourself into nature they have a nice walking trail right by the elk and buffalo enclosure

My girlfriend and I just visited to see the lake and walk the trails. But what we actually did was accidentally find Buffalo. Good times!

I always have a wonderful experience when I visit Jackson County Parks and Recreation. The beauty of the landscape is inspirational. The peace I leave with after a walk surrounded by nature. The memories I have shared with my children at Jacomo. If you love connecting with nature this is a great place to enjoy it. Plus there are so many other things to enjoy. Fishing, cycling, boating, swimming (if you have a boat). I have always found something to interest me here at JCP&R. Please remember to clean up after yourselves, respect the land and don't litter. Fishing line is a terrible thing to leave behind. I personally bring a bag with me to clean up anything I see left behind as I enjoy all the beauty of the area. Check it out. Make some lasting memories, get some exercise or just take it all in, find some inspiration and inner peace. Overall enjoy it. I always do! Thanks JCP&R employees! It's a privilege to have a place like this to enjoy whenever I desire. I appreciate you and all the hard work involved in keeping up the place and always improving and maintaining the trails keeping this lake a family and pet friendly place for all to enjoy. Thank you.

Peaceful place to sit and look at the water while you are on a conference call at work! Pics for attention to the post.

Nice place to fish in a boat. I was disappointed that the trails were cleared but the banks were overgrown making it hard to fish from the bank.

Went for a work event. (shelter 5) Had a great time but the ranger kept driving by. It felt like he was rushing us to leave.

Missouri Town 1855.
We thoroughly enjoyed walking around and appreciated the information shared by staff in period attire. There may be more volunteer staff on the weekend. We visited during the work week.

I had a nice quiet morning fishing with my two boys at the dock near woods chap rd. Didn't catch much, but we sure enjoyed being out in nature. The crane and dragonflies were fun to watch.

These lakes are outstanding, even just to tour the area from the car. The two bridges and other parking lots provide vistas over the water. There are some nature lookout points that were closed which we will return to. I don’t know what that old huge house is for.

Covid is over but gates are all still locked for the most part. Don’t know if they are to be reserved now to get the gates open but it’s dumb

The views, the areas, the park shelters, the playgrounds and the much abundant lakes to fish, boat, and swim are nice. The only thing about it is that most of the shelter picnic areas AREN'T open yet. And I'm not sure when that will change. I visited the shelter house 1. It had a nice relatively new grill, playground and bathroom were those portable bathrooms but were very well managed and cleaned decently. The playground is literally next to the shelter house so your kiddos could run around and play without worries. It's next to the road yes, but the very good thing is that it's feet away and FENCED. Even good for your paw babies to join. And some folks like to come around and go into the woods by the lake to fish, none mean any harm. There is an outlet attached for lights or for you to charge your phone or devices. I love it so much here. I made it our family spot for summer days!

This is a nice campground. But the people of kansas city sure love their noise. I drifted off to the racket of harley exhaust from the highway and woke up at 735 am to the sound of the staff mowing the campground grass. Not to mention the occasional airplane directly overhead.
Bring your soundproof camper if you visit here. But it was cheaper than a hotel!
