Jazz A Louisiana Kitchen reviews
23Was an awesome time with my Grandson. The food is amazing. The staff were amazing. The atmosphere off the chart. Love this place!
It's decent food, but don't expect authentic Louisiana cooking
I'm a Louisiana native who has lived in KC for a few years now, and I was intrigued when I heard of this place. It's decent but it wasn't what I was really hoping for. Ordered a catfish poboy with a side of onion rings and beignets for dessert.
Catfish Poboy: The first thing I noticed was that it came on a hoagie roll instead of French bread, which is a pretty big tip-off that whoever devised the menu either doesn't know about or doesn't care about authentic New Orleans food. Using French bread on a poboy is one of the easiest parts of Louisiana cuisine to get right.
The bun was also too small to hold the large catfish fillet it came with, and I ended up breaking the fillet in half and eating the other half separately. The catfish itself was pretty middle-of-the-road, but it was good enough. It also came with three bland hushpuppies and some solid coleslaw.
Onion rings: To their credit, these were amazing. Some of the best onion rings I've had in the KC area. Crispy, well-breaded, excellently seasoned, with the slight sweetness of Vidalia onions. They nailed this part, at least.
Beignets: Not the worst impression of beignets I've seen, but they were a bit too cakey. They were missing the slight outer crisp and internal density and chewiness that a Cafe du Monde beignet would have.
I might end up going again, since there really aren't many other options in the KC metro for Louisiana cooking, especially after that place in the Rivermarket closed. If I do go again, I'll be tempering my expectations.
Food was everything and the service was nice. Spicy Margarita & the Hurricane was BOMB Bermuda Triangle not so much
Great service as always. Can't get enough of their amazing food. Although I missed the Wednesdays wings deal (hope they will be coming again soon).
Website says nothing about this restaurant now being CARRY OUT ONLY!
Drove 30 minutes to get there, stood at the podium another 10 minutes b4 an employee yelled across the restaurant "carry out only! "
Poor customer service put on hour wait, than it gets extended due to they don't know how long it will take. Than also say food is coming out very slow taking 45 minutes a table to serve
My first time there, yes I know it's super cold outside but I don't think the heat was working tonight. Ordered some fried pickles (delish recommend), stuffed mushrooms (DON'T RECOMMEND) worst stuffed mushrooms I've ever had. Did order the cajun shrimp with okra (okra BEST I'VE EVER HAD). I would go back but would run back anytime soon, maybe 1 or 2 times a year if that.
We visited The Jazz this past Saturday evening 1/9/21, my husband and I. To us, this is one of those "treats" we don't do often. We had been looking forward to going again. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed in the visit. My husband ordered the blackened catfish and it was soggy. The dirty rice, which came with his meal and I ordered a side of was grainy. When we ordered a dozen raw oysters we asked for hot sauce. Usually they bring us a bottle of hot sauce. This time she brought out some little container with this sauce that was rather unpleasant to eat. We just settled for the horseradish and cocktail sauce instead. I always order the stuffed zucchini, well, it wasn't what it used to be. The cheesy stuffing was runny, not cheesy like it used to be. The zucchini was not cooked as well as it used to be, it was a bit crunchy. The wait staff.our waitress never removed the oyster pan from our table after we were done. We had to flag her down for more drinks. We never got more bread. I don't think we will be back and I don't think we will be recommending the restaurant again.
Okay so the food was very tasty. I had a craving for Cajun chicken pasta and I was not disappointed. Will be my go to for Creole food.
Wayne was absolutely amazing. Kept us updated on our table while also making us laugh. Our server Day (im not correct on spelling) but she was perfect. 100% will go back and ask for her.
The waiter was very rude and the service was horrible. The food was good but my rice portion was very cold and the waiter was disrespectful to my friend. I would not recommend this place especially if you do not wish to wait for long periods of time before someone acknowledges you.
Haven't had good Cajun food in a long time. Would highly recommend to anyone going up by the KU Med Center to give it a try. Looks like a dive from outside but don't mist if the best places. Our waitress was a hoot.
One of my favorite places to eat! I don't like seafood but I've had everything on their menu that isn't sea food. And it's delicious
Food is ok.service is terrible. It always has been. I hadn't been there for a couple years and went back.it's the same
Definitely go and order the crawfish ettouffe! Then be amazed by the harmonica/guitar player that sets up in the corner and blows us all away.
My leftovers were even better the next day. However, my friend ordered THREE drinks off the menu they didnt have. That was a bummer!
This has been and remains to be one of my top choices for Cajun foods. The dinner portions are King Sized and delicious. I had Stuffed Catfish and shared plate with my sister who took some home. Always great service, plenty to choose from and New Oleans authentic atmosphere. Great lunch, or dinner dates. Go when they have live entertainment it's the bomb!
The food is always consistent for me at this location. I didn't venture to far out with an Chicken Ala Mer and Gumbo. It's the old location but has its charm.
I had the seafood platter. It was good, not great. Small shrimp and oysters. Service was excellent. I'll be sticking with my usual crawfish etoufee next time.
Very good food.from the bread and butter in the beginning to the entree you order. All great! Be sure and order a hurricane they will blow you over.enjoy
