Jose Pepper's Mexican Restaurant reviews
12Good food but portion sizes have definitely gotten smaller. Service was good as usual. I was disappointed that while the bussers cleaned the tables relatively quickly, no one swept the floors the whole hour we were there. Straw wrappers and spilled chips were everywhere.
The service has gotten so bad at this restaurant that I literally walked out 5 minutes after I got there. The bar is consistently dirty everytime I visit. There were 5 employees behind the bar & not one of them greeted me, acknowledged me but did look at me. They were huddled around each other counting their tips and laughing. The male bartender that was working is awful.
We get food to go often and it’s usually good. The bartender almost always forgets hot sauce but that’s why we go in & order so we can watch them put it in the bag.
They need to bring back customer service and not just a bunch of unenthusiastic people that want a tip for nothing.
Eat here a couple times per month and never had any problems. I usually order the Carnitas Tacos and they're great.:)
Curbside order guy managed to hang up on me twice. Had no idea who I was both times I called back. Butchered my order. Left me waiting in the parking lot for half an hour after food was supposed to be ready. Food sucked. Worst place I’ve eaten in a long time.
Always have enjoyed eating here. I got the chicken fajitas this time and they were excellent. I highly recommend this place. Have been coming to this location with family for years.
We had good service. The food was good. It was very busy. It was puffy taco Tuesday. The manager said that they are always very busy on Tuesdays.
We normally have pretty good food here. Like everything else the prices are going up but it's not just them. Great margaritas!
I was really hoping this would have been a great dinner, since we’d had a good day and had just walked over from the Hampton Inn. There was a 20-30 minute wait, but it was a Saturday evening and we hoped this meant that other people enjoyed this place too.
I took my wife by the bar so she could get a beer while we waited. Bartender was very nice. Dining room was a little dirty, but I kind of ignored it since they were so busy.
Once we finally got a table our waitress took a bit to greet us and grab drink orders. We declined the offer of spinach dip, yet it still showed up. We returned it, though the lady who brought it said we could just have it. A second beer for my wife, first at the table, took 15 minutes to arrive.
We slowly finished our complimentary chips and salsa, becoming more and more curious why our food was taking so long. I’ve been to tons of Mexican restaurants, and prep time is typically insanely fast - it’s just the nature of the menu.
Waitress came by eventually, not to refill my tea, but to apologize for the long wait and offer free dessert.
An hour from when we ordered our food and our two plates finally showed up. Again, lots of history with places like this I fully expected a 500° plate - and mine was super hot. My wife’s? Not. Her meal included “toppings” that needed to be presented cold (lettuce, sour cream, etc). But the hot things underneath were luke warm at best.: - (
My only guess is that something happened with my order and they didn’t want to redo her entire plate. (You can’t just reheat a plate with lettuce and sour cream on top - it’ll be gross, I get it). But instead of bringing out really late food at an appropriate temperature we got room temperature.
My wife tried each item that came with her combo and none were anything resembling “warm”.: (We didn’t raise a stink, but did tell our waitress when she finally showed again (still no refills). She took that meal off our bill, apologized and again offered dessert. We declined dessert again.
We did see a manager walking around but he never approached our table, otherwise we probably would have shared our story then. Not to “btch” but to just share our concerns. Very disappointed and quite unlucky we’d return if ever in the area again.
Came for lunch today and everything was seriously so good! Everything we ordered came out fresh and fast. Sam was our waitress and she was the best!
Decent enough Tex-Mex in a franchise environment. Service was prompt and the food was hot and fresh when it arrived at the table. With tip and one alcoholic beverage, Bill came to $30 per person.
Went to the lees summit location. Usually the service is A1. But there was a waitress named Candis who gave us the worst service ever. She never came back to the table after we got our meals and made sure to avoid us. Walking past the table several times. We asked the guy cleaning tables for more dip and he bought it back in like 3 min. We asked her for to go boxes and she bought us 1. Never asked if we wanted more drinks and got a attitude when we told her about her service. Management came and (apologized) for her actions. We tipped the buss guy $10.00 for doing a better job then her. Go Figure. Get rid of Candis
This is a great Mexican restaurant. I love their salsa; it's got pieces of onions, tomatoes and cilantro instead of bland plain sauce that other places have. I had the Rico Enchiladas and I really liked the white sauce and jalapeño cream cheese. It was unique and very good.
