Kaleidoscope reviews
18Kaleidoscope lost a lot of its charm post COVID the once beautiful room that inspired imagination and creativity is now just a room with white walls with a few crafting stations.
I always love this place. I use to come here as a child when I was in school in the 60s. It a place where a child is free to use their imagination to make things.
Our little 3 year old boy loved this place! Great for kids who love to be creative. So many interesting and fun things for kids to create.
Admission is FREE with free parking! Great place for kids who loves to draw or like doing arts. Kids can get messy so make sure your kids wear play clothes. Staffs were very nice. It was worth a visit.
I love that Kaleidoscope is engaging and gives a space for kids to explore and be creative! And it’s free! However, I am not a fan of the renovations. It actually made me sad. I get that clean minimalism may be “in-style”. But the atmosphere used to feel so fun, creative, magical! Another customer had it spot on when they said it felt like an Apple Store with craft stations. Not as inspiring, definitely less unique. What happened?
Looks a little plain now compared to other older photos, and mostly they just have paper cutouts and markers for kids to make projects, but the puzzle maker and melted crayon wall were really cool. Even more cool is that it was free.
A great experience for kids who like to color and craft. An hour to an hour and a half is plenty of time for your little ones to have fun and experience it.
It was a nice experience and my two young kids enjoyed themselves tapping into their creative side. There were many stations to create something that you can take home at the end. You need a reservation to enter.
Great place. It's free and they offer a lot of different arts and crafts type stuff for the kids. My grandson had a great time
100% would recommend, just know that they had preset times to enter so book online ahead of time if you can. Great for kids 2 to 12.
We always have a great time allowing our kids to express their creativity. I would honestly say that this place is geared towards ages 3-8. That doesn’t mean that we big kids can’t enjoy ourselves too. Once you are finished there is a free museum for Hallmark next door to explore which is pretty cool as well. Don’t forget to make your reservation online ahead of time
Such a creative, playful, fun experience with the kids! It was a must-do on our KC bucket list.
They must of redid this place since covid. I remember it being creative looking, glow in the dark hot crayon room. Now it's very dull. Still the crafts available but not as much as it used to have to pick from. You have to register online before you go. It's still free. But not as fun. The art zones get over crowded easily. And about 8 of 10 kids here have 0 manners.
A little disappointed. Remember as a kid, black lights, tunnels, glass floors with scenery underneath. Now just a big bright room with coloring and painting stations. Not complaining for a free entertainment, but could definitely be better.
Not like the old one. I'm glad it's open back up, we left before the session was up unlike before I'd stay until the end.
This may not be a popular opinion but I was so so disappointed by the renovations of kaleidoscope. It used to be a smorgasbord of artistic decorations, creations, interactions, and lighting. Now it looks like the apple store opened an art center. White walls, bright lights, boring stations! Every station was paper, markers, and ransacked sticker sheets except 2 stations. Melted crayons and watercolors. We waited 2 months for this reservation and was over it in 20 minutes. It was great the way it was, won't be back.
This is a pretty cool place, I came as a kid- and now get to take my own kids. It’s a fun little craft adventure (especially on a day with bad weather) and you are also right by the Crown Center for lunch and shopping afterwards. Make sure to get/use your parking voucher and you’ll get another one at Crown Center if you spend $25. Otherwise you have to pay for parking if you stay past a couple hours. My only complaint is that a 40 minute session goes by really fast at kaleidoscope and thus can make you feel hectic and rushed.
