We hired Katie as our wedding caterer. Katie was easy to work with and we were able to make payments towards our total which made a big difference. We did buffet style meal and used her bar services. Katie gifted us with a charcuterie board which was a HUGE hit during cocktail hour. Bartending staff was great. Catering staff were found sitting on their phones when there was work to be done and help was clearly needed. As far as the food, it was okay for a wedding meal the chicken was dry and the carrots were over seasoned.

We recently attended a wedding that Katie catered. The charcuterie board was great when we when through. The food was presented fine - and tasted good - but it was very cold. Everyone at our table said the food was cold and the table next to us said the same thing. It was disappointing as the meat I had was ice cold and I couldn’t eat it. I did enjoy the green beans and potatoes - although they were a bit chilly too but I ate them as I was starving. If you are thinking using Katie’s - make sure you state you want the food warm!

I highly recommend Katie’s Catering for wedding services. Katie was extremely friendly and easy to communicate with through the tasting and booking processes and leading up to the wedding and day of. She and her staff went the extra mile to make sure the food and display for our wedding was top quality. Our venue did not have a designated kitchen space and Katie and her team brought extra tables and equipment to make it work with our guest count of 250. The charcuterie table was an absolute hit and we had many guests compliment the food. Thank you so much Katie!

Closed the old company and opened a new one due to bad reviews.

This company catered my wedding, took over 2000 dollars and couldn't even feed 130 people. (Well, we told them 130 people, 90 something showed up, so I guess even less than 130!)

Asked them to serve water, they brought a single plastic dispenser and my wedding party had to fill it up all night.

When we asked for an explanation, all she could do was attack my family.

THIS IS BAD BUSINESS PRACTICE, THERE IS A REASON THIS COMPANY ONLY HAS 8 REVIEWS! SHE DELETES THE PREVIOUS COMPANY AND MAKES A NEW ONE WHEN SHE GETS FLOODED WITH BAD REVIEWS.

DO NOT GIVE THIS WOMAN YOUR BUSINESS!

All you should need to do to see how she handles things is look at her responses to reviews.

Communication is HORRIBLE. We initially contracted with Katie’s Catering last September for our upcoming wedding in May. We were only going to be using her dessert bar services.

I followed up with her in April to update our invoice for an increased guest count list. After some back and forth she asked if we would like to go back to our original invoice which I stated I did. After sending that message, I never heard back from her. I proceeded to follow up 3-4 times within the time span of a week and never heard back from Katie via email.

Fast forward to 5/12, my fiancé texted her personally to follow up with her, she stated she needed an email stating all the quantities of desserts we would need. My fiancé sent it that night along with our original invoice for reference. She never responded.

My fiancé followed up that following Sunday and Katie said she was out of town but would look at it and send us a new invoice. We never heard back from her.

We then texted her today 5/17 stating we would like to cancel our services with her. She proceeded to state she has been trying to get this resolved for the last month (funny considering she NEVER reached out to outside of any conversation WE initiated) and proceeded to tell us she was waiting on the quantity of each dessert we wanted.

My fiancé then proceed to respond back with a screenshot and time stamp of when we emailed her last Friday along with a copy of our original invoice. She stated she never received the email and it was due to her being out of town.

The entire time she made it seem like it was our fault when she would NEVER respond to ANY of our emails and NEVER reached out to us first about anything and never followed up.

Completely unprofessional way to conduct business and I would not recommend her services to ANYONE.

The catering at Katie’s was fantastic! Ordering online was easy and then finalizing the details via email was too, so it was quick and efficient. The food was high-quality and plentiful with an excellent price point. I highly recommend this local business for your catering need.

Katie’s Catering was wonderful to work with. We started off with a tasting and loved her food right off the bat. We did our coordination, cake, decor, and food with her and she KILLED IT. We had a plated dinner at a venue with a kitchen that was not big at all and they made it work and pulled it off effortlessly. We got so many compliments on our food and her INCREDIBLE charcuterie table at our cocktail hour. I was so specific with what I wanted and I loved Katie’s honesty and how realistic she was with my vision. Some people just tell you what you want to hear. Katie will do that but she will also let you know what is realistic and I so so appreciate that.

I am so glad I got to support her small business for my wedding and I admire her work ethic and team very much. Thank you for making my wedding day perfect Katie!

Katie assigned Vickie Souder to be my coordinator and holy smokes I am so happy she did. Vickie was incredible in every way from the minute we met her! We are so grateful to have had her as our coordinator on our big day. She was so responsive and assuring throughout the entire planning process. She took our vision and executed it perfectly and I just couldn’t say enough good things about her.

I was very disappointed with what this catering company thinks is acceptable. For starters the cake was not decorated as was stated in the contract, it was clear to all that the cake shifted and was leaning and their was no attempt to fix it or even an apology about the cake. The food was cold by the time it was to be served to the guests. And was left out over night next to the fridge instead of in the fridge. There was no attempt from anyone on the staff to correct the mistakes and the owner is not taking any ownership for her mistakes. I would not recommend this company for anyone to use and especially not for something as important as your wedding day.

We utilized Katie’s catering for our wedding and could not be happier. Katie and her team provided a beautiful charcuterie spread for our cocktail hour. They then provided a delicious dinner that followed. The food was amazing and the attention to detail they added with their own decorations, fit the theme of our wedding PERFECTLY. Her team showed up on time and we’re available for anything we needed. We would not have chosen a different caterer for our special day!

We were very disappointed in the catering company. The wedding cake was leaning when they put it on the dessert table. It was very obvious to all. To our knowledge none of the staff made any attempt to rectify the problem whatsoever. The cupcakes were very small and the icing was messy and did not cover many of the cupcakes completely. It looked like they were a rush decorating job and no where near the size one would expect for a formal event. Also, an entire bag of icing and attached icing tip were found the next morning in the commercial refrigerator - were we to finish icing the cupcakes?
The caterer knew the post-ceremony timeline had a 1 hour cocktail hour before the bride and groom even entered the reception hall for first dances. (Dinner was scheduled 1.5 hrs after beginning of cocktail hour.) A charcuterie table was made available during cocktail hour and it was a well-done presentation, except that the brides colors weren't taken into consideration as communicated to the caterer and a burnt orange runner was used on the table and it completely clashed with the wedding colors!
At the time the guests entered the reception venue for cocktail hour, the caterer already had the food on the buffet line along with the rolls in the serving basket. Needless to say, when it came time for guests to go through the buffet line the food was not hot (even with sterno cans under pans) and the rolls were cold and hard. The only thing that met our expectations was the tossed green salad and the balsamic vinaigrette dressing was very good. The food was cold and the roasted vegetables were nothing close to "roasted", they were mushy and soggy, appeared they were never roasted, more like over-steamed.
Leftover pans of food were covered and left out on counters in the commercial kitchen and not placed in refrigerators before the catering company left the venue. All the food went to waste because it was not put in the refrigerators 3 feet away!
The rented chargers (gold) were mismatched and several looked like they needed to be retired (scratched and chipped) ; not very professional looking. Having mismatched chargers on the same table really looks bad.
The bartending staff was excellent and did a great job with the signature drink provided and the beer, wine & champagne. They were communicative and let us know if they had any questions.
I would NOT recommend Katie's Catering to any friends or family in the KC area. Do your due diligence when hiring a cater and I would definitely check the BBB; we have seen some not very positive comments with the BBB as well!

Vickie Souder was our coordinator and she could not have been more thorough and 100% committed our big day making sure it was exactly we wanted. She was a joy to work with and extremely accountable. As soon as we met, I instantly felt like there was someone who had my back and I would make sure all the things I didnt even think about were pulled through seamlessly. She made sure all the rentals and staff I hired from Katie's Catering were well directed and taken care of throughout the event. Literally nothing went wrong on our wedding day. I would recommend Vickie over and over again!

Katie's Catering catered my daughter's wedding this past weekend. I was very disappointed with the food! The chicken and pork loin were very dry, the bacon wrapped asparagus was over cooked, the cookies were burnt and cupcakes were also very dry. My husband said it reminded him of chow hall food. When you spend this kind of money you expect to get good quality food. My daughter said what they had for the tasting menu was nothing like what served for the dinner. Would not recommend!

I am writing this review on the behalf of my friend. She & her now husband were excited to use Katie’s Catering for their wedding. They raved about the delicious food. As a bridesmaid, I was supportive of their decision. However, we will NOT recommend them to future couples. Please do your research on reviews, go with your gut, and spend your money elsewhere.

My friends paid extra for additional portions ahead of the wedding day to ensure that all of their guests would have enough to eat. On the wedding day, even though several guests never showed up—the food STILL ran out. The last 2-3 tables barely got anything with the very last table not getting ANY entrees at all! Yes—this was buffet style—HOWEVER, the catering company should know this and be more prepared. NO, you can’t blame this on some guests taking “too much” food because you were given a head count and your portions weren’t even enough to feed LESS than the headcount. This doesn’t add up here. My friends emailed the owner that evening and woke up to a response of “this is often a chance that happens with buffets” and “there was some food leftover, just not entrees”. These are some of the most unprofessional statements I’ve ever heard from a vendor! The couple did NOT pay for guests to have just “some” food—they paid for EACH guest to have a WHOLE meal. Katie’s Catering did NOT take responsibility and own up to their mistake, but blamed everyone and everything else.

It is water under the bridge now and my friends are so disappointed. They just want to make sure that future couples do not go through the same thing they did in entrusting their big day to a vendor like this.

Also, the section of the contract regarding headcount is ridiculous. It states that if your guest count on the day of your wedding goes over the headcount you give them, then they will not allow anyone to eat until the payment for the additional guests are paid right then and there. 1) couples can’t entirely control last minute guests. 2) who’s going to stand there and count all the ppl there who are going to eat? 3) even if payment for the additional guests are made then & there, will the catering company go to the kitchen and whip up those additional servings? I think not. This is a ridiculous clause.
