Katy Trail - Augusta Trailhead reviews
14Has stops for bicycle assistance and very welcoming area with food as well. I hear good things about Good News Brewing!
The trail head has a pit toilet. There is parking right by the trail. Augusta is a darling town. The trailhead is down hill from the town. To explore the town, you will need to go uphill.
There is a bike shop. But the town is above the hill including the winery. Very steep, plan on walking
Started at the Katie Trail in Augusta with the intent to ride 8 miles north to Defiance Missouri where most of the crowd action is at the 3 popular bar/restaurants which are frequented by the more mature adult crowd and bikers wanting to display there motorcycles. Ended up taking a detour at Klondike Park about one-half the way and found many side trails to bike within the park and to the north. Never made it to Defiance before heading back. Had a wonderful day of pedal assisted e bike riding with lots of exploring.
Nice little spot to grab a snack, maybe. The public bathroom was atrocious though. The Good News Brewery onsite saved a star for this one. Really wish the Kickstand bike rental place let renters use their facilities.
Trailhead was adequate but pit toilet needed attention. Plenty of parking and you can bike or walk up to Augusta for a glass of wine or shopping if you don’t mind negotiating a decent size hill.
Nice deck atmosphere.no waitress and prices outrageous.why did I give a tip for no service? I was brainwashed by media.to tip folks who never did college? Scattered Parking not clear as place has two names?
Went to the brewery there. Great place for food and beer. One of my favorite places. Right next the katy trail. Id come back again.
Caught the last tailgate performance of the summer. Good music and drinks. Keep an eye out for the Augusta historical society schedule of musical performances. H s clay b&b also highly recommended
New bike rental/store right next to the trailhead. Great little store with a bike mechanic, cold drinks and snacks, energy snacks, apperal, accessories, and a/c! The rental bikes are really nice Trek bikes. I have my own bikes, but I was impressed. The actual trailhead has a bathroom. If it wasn't 100 degrees I could remember the name of the store. I will edit this post later if I can.
Potties at the trail head were not clean and smelled terrible and the sweat bees were swarming us. Views around Augusta are beautiful but the Trailhead could use some routine maintenance.
There is a lot going on at the August Trailhead. The brewrey has had a major refresh done. Someone is renovating the old three story house on the corner. The bike and refreshment shop has added some outdoor seating. I like the location. A little over seven miles from Defiance and around seven miles from Dutzow. Just about everything you need. Food, drink, supplies, bike repairs are all available. Enjoy your ride on the Katy.
Ample car parking gravel plot. Rest room available. Shop nearby for snacks. Walking distance to some wineries.
Good shade. Kickstand is new shop in the same parking lot that is a good place to grab a cold drink and snack.
