Kokoro Training Academy reviews
16I can’t say enough good things about this place… The instructors are top notch individuals that make you feel welcome from the very beginning. The culture this gym provides is appealing to all walks of life. I can’t think of a better place to start a new journey towards personal improvement. Highly recommend this place.
I've been going to Kokoro Training Academy learning from Steve and Sam for about 2 months now. I love it. Great instructors! I'm hooked!
Kokoro is a great place to learn life skills, I didn't know much about Brazilian Jiu Jitsu before giving this a try. Jiu Jitsu is one of the hardest things I have ever done, but the coaches here firstly make you feel safe, and will meet you at your level. As someone that came in feeling overwhelmed that was appreciated.the facility is great, very clean and kept up. Showers are available and safe to use. The gym members are also great, they don't seem to look down on new comers and are all willing to teach little tricks of the trade as well.
I’ve been here for a few weeks now, and cannot be more impressed by Steve, Sam, and the rest of the coaches/trainers here. Every person I’ve had an interaction with on the mats have been great, no ego here like most BJJ gyms in the area. If you’ve been on the fence to try BJJ, or had a bad experience elsewhere, I urge you to come here and you will not want to be anywhere else.
As a beginner, the instructors are patient and thorough. The facility is clean and the sense of community is strong. If you are interested in learning or continuing your practice of Jiu Jitsu, I highly recommend Kokoro Training Academy.
I recently started training here, and I’m having a lot of fun, and am impressed by the instructors knowledge and teaching ability. Everyone is really nice. Safety and cleanliness is a priority. I am excited to start coming more often!
Amazing instructors. Family owned with a family environment. My kids (10&11) go too and have thrived as a result. Confidence increased. Strength increased. Skill increased. Absolutely love this place.
This is an amazing family. Words can’t describe how great all the people there are.from day one not knowing anything about jujitsu to the journey that I am now on. This place will change your life.
I am so happy I found Kokoro! It's like my home away from home. Everyone is so warm and welcoming. The love for the game is unmistakable. I highly reccomend stopping by!
I love Kokoro, I've tried multiple BJJ places but this one was the best. Fantastic trainers and wonderful atmosphere. Definitely recommend.
The instructors at Kokoro make this jiujitsu gym the best in Springfield. They are very knowledgeable and are passionate about everyone being able to enjoy jiujitsu, no matter the skill level. The community is fun and passionate. Jiujitsu can be challenging in the beginning but this gym makes the practice much more approachable!
I have been training here for over a year and a half. I had kickboxer 20 years prior but had never done Jiu Jitsu. In short the team at Kokoro has made my life better. I'm in better shape and it's a great way to relieve stress. The team becomes friends outside if the gym as well. Coach Steve is a solid instructor and patient. You will not be disappointed if you try this place.
As a woman (who has never been naturally athletic) I have felt completely accepted and safe learning jiujitsu here. There’s no pressure to do anything I’m not comfortable with, the classes are fun, and everyone is friendly. The lessons are all accessible to beginners with no prior experience because of the focus on fundamentals and because Steve is a great teacher and good at breaking concepts and techniques into manageable steps. Within just a couple of weeks after starting regular classes I started noticing myself progressing and became addicted! And it’s far more fun than most types of exercise because your brain is engaged while you’re sweating—the time always flies by for me. For anyone who may be on the fence, I recommend just coming to a class or two and you’ll see what I mean!:)
I have enjoyed Kokoro for a few months now. I highly recommend this school if you have a desire to learn this legit art or are needing a change in your workout routine. Instructors are highly motivated to pass on their knowledge! See you on the mats!
Best place around! Steve is an amazing teacher and very patience with new students. Definitely check this place out! You wont regret.
