Lake City Range reviews
23This range is great if you like over complications of very simple tasks and so many rules/regulations it feels like you're trying to zero a rifle in prison. A nice range to zero if its sprinkling and you brought extra patience in your range bag.
AWESOME public range. They have an eagle eye on the pistol and rifle range and will let you know if your breaking a rule. Great price $4/hour on pistol/rifle and $4 for skeet/trap round (25 birds).
Not a friend of the public which they serve. The older woman that works there is rude, arrogant and a bad representation of the MDC. I arrived at 3: 35 to shoot some clays and was rudely turned away stating that they dont take any new shooters after 3: 30 since they close at 4: 30 and "Karen" informs me that its "always" been that way. Says nothing about that on the website, been going out here for decades and never heard a word about that rule before. For an organization that relies on the public to survive you sure treat them like you wish they never showed up. Get some employees and some hours that accommodate the people they serve.
Horrible place to go. They have very short hours, the staff is often rude, especially the old lady behind the counter, she acts put out by your presence and acts like you owe her a thank you for being there. Since they wont post it on their website or on the door or walls, make sure you are there by 3: 30 as they wont take anymore shooters after that time since they close at 4: 30. How difficult is that to put on the website so people dont drive all the way out there only to be turned away. I'll be finding another place to shoot, one that understands that customers are what keep them in business and are not a nuisance to them. MDC is your typical government entity, looking down on the very people they rely on for funding. I'll do all I can to give them as little funding of mine as I can.
Went here to range in my rifle, nice clean range, strict but patent staff (which is what you want at a gun range). Will be returning with friends. It was superbly priced! The only down side is it should be open later in the evening people should be able to go put a few rounds down range after work.
Based on the negative comments, I will be going to this range soon. If for no other reason then to experience the Staff and being yelled at.
I must have timed it just right because I had the range all to myself. The place was clean, the targets are easy to adjust for distance, and the folks working there were nice. The prices are decent-I wasn’t looking to buy anything just walked around looking at prices. I’ll definitely be back.
Visited this range today for the first time. The majority of the staff was rude and must have been bored as often as they came out. It felt like every 15 mins there was a cease fire. Overall a negative experience and I'll definitely go to FJ and pay a little extra. No I would not recommend this establishment to anyone. Good thing it was only 3 bucks.
I was warned that this place was garbage before I went. Should've listened.
Won't be coming back.
Very nice outdoor range, and the price is right. They also provide free targets. Great for sighting in your rifle, but that's about it. No fun allowed, as in no doubletaps or rapid firing of any sort. This place is clearly catering to Elmer Fudd and his fellow "I support the 2nd Amendment, but no one needs an AR15 for hunting" types.
I give the facility itself 5 stars, but the fun factor gets 1 star due to the Nazi-like rules and regulations.
It is a very good range. You can shoot shotgun slugs at the pistol range. However for buckshot you are limited to having a minimum distance of 25 yards. This makes pattering buckshot for close range not really viable. Otherwise it is a great place to go. You can also shoot rifles and carbines at the pistol range.
Very nice shooting facility. Pay close attention to the range officer's directions and you'll do just fine.
I really like to go shooting at this location. The people are very safety-conscious. I feel safe here!
Employees were rude. Was there for only one round of shooting, uet when I left was informed I owed another 3 dollars. According to the cashier I had been there for an hour and a half. Was only there for 30 min. Very disappointed. Won't be back.
Introduced 3 new people to trap shooting. Clean environment and nice helpful volunteers! Had a blast
Friendly, helpful staff. Many rules vigilantly enforced which makes the range as safe as possible. Lake City Range is the gold standard for how a range should be operated.
The range is very nice, You can sit at the bench, take your time, and make sure your rifle is sited in. You stick the target in pre-determine holes in the concrete floor down-range so you can be certain that you are shooting at 50,75, and 100 yards (a lot of ranges don't seem to have that level of precision as to target distance). As others have said, the staff can be a bit intimidating. Be prepared for a military-like shooting experience, complete with reprimands if you are doing it wrong. The upside is that it is the safest range that you ever shoot at.
The price is right at $3 an hour. You cant beat that. I
The price is fantastic, 5 stars! They give you free targets, 5 stars! Their distances on the range aren't marked or made easily known. I give them 4 stars because I think it is 10 yard increments. Their staff is very knowledgeable and helpful if you need pointers on shooting, 5 stars! Best place to go.if it isn't raining.the only downside is having to stop shooting during ceasefire to change targets instead of having the electonic target retrieval system.but it's $3! Doesn't get better than that! Only downside is the hours. 3 stars for that but still a great value!
Excellent place to sight in your rifle or hit some paper with a handgun. The range staff can get alittle anal but thats their job and they are trying to keep everyone safe. They dont know if you are a military sniper or some idiot that just bought his first rifle. Follow some simple rules and you are good to go.
The range is nice, but the range instructors are complete dicks a lot of the time. They don't offer to help you, they just yell at you when you make a mistake, so you don't really want to ask for help if you have a problem in the future. The unmanned range (Pigeon Hill) is a much friendlier atmosphere, and most people there are willing to help out any way they can.
I won't be going back to lake city, I don't like to pay for something that is so restrictive and the personal are so unhelpful.
