Laura Ingalls Wilder Historic Home & Museum, Mansfield MO

We had a great tour of the Rock house and farm house! The docents were very knowledgeable and excited to share information. The museum has excellent displays on the Ingalls family, Laura’s life and artifacts. Highly recommend spending the day in Mansfield seeing this historic site.

Wonderful house and museum! Staff is excellent and is passionate about preserving history and the importance of Laura Ingalls Wilder in American history. A MUST for all Americans.

What an amazing time our family had exploring the stories, treasures, & artifacts presented throughout Laura & Almanzo's Rocky Ridge Farm & Rockhouse. I must admit up front, we love Wilders' writings & have read & re-read all of her books. This was a seriously epic stop for us and yet, we were completely blown away by the vast amount of items contained within the collection & the knowledge shared by the staff. Truly a wonderful 4-5 hr adventure through the heart & soul of Laura, Almanzo, & even Ma, Pa, Mary, Carrie, & Grace. However, we were surprised & even greatly disappointed in the overall condition of their hometown of Mansfield Missouri. Run down, unkempt, & even trashy could be words you'd use to describe this town. There are obviously exceptions to that, but the leadership of this community could really do a better job developing & up keeping their resources and in turn no doubt be able to prosper even greater from the fame of it's Daughter.

We had a wonderful visit. Brought back sweet memories of the Little House books. We learned a lot about Laura as an adult, and she lead an interesting life in Mansfield, Missouri.

We took time out of our travel to stop by. They were supposed to open at 12. Lots of people standing in the sun at 12: 30 still not open

The guides knew everything about the Wilder's whichade the tour of the house and farm house so great

Have been here many years ago. Loved it then, as well as now. Also brought my 11 y.o. Granddaughter, & she loved it too. Thank You for carrying on the legacy.

Visited their gift shop. Bought a book to add to my collection and a darling doll sized coffee set.

Museum was nice we saw the in the movie. Then went to the rock house that Rose bought for parents and to Ingalls original house.

What an amazing tribute to Laura Ingalls Wilder. The tour guides were very informative and knowledgeable. When watching the video before going into the museum, there is a fiddle being played but it isn't until the end that you realize that you are listening to Pa's fiddle being played. The same exact sound that Laura listened to and recounts in her books. I might have cried a little.

On our way to the black hills we decided to detour a little bit and go up to De smet and see the house and school replica and the Cemetery. It was all very enjoyable as we used to watch the show with the kids and enjoyed it.

I suffer from short term memory loss and my sister is in a wheelchair when we walked in they asked us about our Service Dogs that is Very Illegal. And then they wouldn't let me take of anything inside the museum it's 2022 let people take pictures and don't Interview them about their service animals

Beautiful and so well preserved! It’s like walking through the past. The staff is so friendly and incredibly knowledgeable.

Our family visited after reading through the Little House series, and my 7 yr old was very excited to visit Laura's house.

The museum is well done, and the gift shop is well stocked. There weren't real tours of the houses; instead a staff member handed out self-guided tour brochures. Honestly, that aspect of the tour could be improved. For $46 plus tax for our family of 4, it's a little pricey to just look through a house. A guide that actually told cool stories about rooms in the house would have been fun.

Still, the restoration efforts are fantastic, and the houses were fun to look through. The museum is great, and I'm glad we went.

So wonderful! It shows how much "stuff" we live with today and don't need. Made me realize how people are more important than things are.

The museum and gift shop are mich nicer than the last time I visited years ago.

The "tour" wasn't really mich of a tour. Mainly just unlocking the houses and letting your walk around for about 10-15 minutes before the next wave of visitors came.

Wow, just wow! Books come to life! Marie at the farmhouse took me through and it was just magical to hear about Laura's later in life years. Make sure you tour the farmhouse first, then the rock house. Set aside a few hours so you can see and take in everything!
