Le Fou Frog reviews
25Went for my birthday and everything was perfect. Service was excellent as were our cocktails and appetizers. They have the best swordfish I’ve ever had and we topped it off with wonderful deserts. But the best part by far is the atmosphere, this isn’t a chain restaurant, it’s very cozy and eclectic. Our awesome night was topped off by one of the waiters serenading the guests. Couldn’t recommend more for anything from a special occasion to just a fun night out.
We came to this restaurant for dinner. This restaurant was recommended to us by a friend. Well, it was a winning. The staff members were very polite and we felt fantastic. The meal was yummy. We enjoyed every moment and we will visit this place again. Keep it up.
Came here for dinner the night before Valentine's Day. The seating was quick as we have already booked a table through Open Table. Easy to find and lots of parking spaces. We were seated next to another couple. I think we were surprised to how small the place was, and how close we're seating to each other. They gave us a chalkboard menu but ours were harder to read compared to the other chalkboard. We don't know much about French food so it is a little harder. The top 2 items were Lamb Shank and Lobster tail, which we found out were both out when we placed our order. So we picked the Monk Fish and the Sweet Bread (cow's thyroid) for entree, corn chowder and salad for appetizer. Monk fish and sweet bread was okay. Maybe it just didn't suit our taste and palate. I wouldn't get it again as it felt too "rich" and eventually became too much for me and my fiance. Prices weren't too bad for a fancy dinner. Soup and salad was done well and had decent portion. We didn't expect a big portion for those so we weren't disappointed. We also had a impromptu song that was sung by one of the team member there (fun little addition to Valentine's night). It's hard for us to return there because we were disappointed with how the placing of the tables were (too close to others), a little too dim (makes it hard to see the food well), and we felt that we didn't receive the service we paid for. Maybe the lobster tail and lamb shank would have changed that.
Great food on the pricey side. It does not look inviting from the outside but warm comfortable on the inside.
Amazing! Our new Favorite.
We had two different types of salad, both great.
Escargot - delicious, lobster bisque - delicious
Their Filet and their Chilean Sea Bass - both, the best we've ever had.
Easily one of my most favorite spots for date night, happy hour or just to enjoy a fun relaxing night with friends.
The food is great, the drinks are strong and tasty, the wine list is varied and as expensive/affordable as you’d like, the service impeccable (you truly feel cared for, with a number of people checking in on you as your night goes).
I honestly can't fathom how anyone could rate Le Fou Frog as anything less than 5+ stars. This place is simply AMAZING! It's my favorite restaurant in the entire Kansas City area (which, by the way, is well known for having a surplus of great restaurants). In contrast to what some may think of a French restaurant as having "small portions, " Le Fou Frog does a great job of being very reasonable and generous in their servings, and leaving you quite filled - with a happy stomach and a happy heart! Le Fou Frog has the most romantic setting (so, absolutely perfect place for a date!) and also can boast a more casual bar area and even an adorable outside patio - when it's warmer outside. Just an amazing place all around! Their menu changes, so you can always try new things. My all-time favorite is the twin lobster tails. They get 5+ stars even just for the creativity on their St. Valentine's menu and extras this year - if you were there, you know what I mean! ;) I would love to THANK THEM for all of the joy and memorable experiences they have given myself and my family and friends over the years.it's been almost 2 decades now that I have enjoyed patronizing their establishment! I can't recommend this place enough. If you're lucky, you may even get to hear the lovely Dale Dunnam sing a live Frank Sinatra (or other romantic) song. I could go on and on. But the best way to know what I am trying to describe is to go.experience it for yourself! You won't be disappointed. But be sure to make early reservations - they fill up quickly! And they have every right reason to do so. They have wowed a generation, and I hope will continue to do so for many, many years to come! <3
We had dinner at Le Fou Frog with another couple - the first visit to this restaurant for all of us. We were pleasantly surprised with the quaint decor and intimate seating. We enjoyed cocktails and a complimentary "amuse bouch" while leisurely perusing the extensive daily specials and menu.
One of the best culinary experiences a person could ask for in Kansas City. In a town of so many options, this is a must stop in our rotation when visiting the Midwest. From the food presentation to the staff, truly a delightful experience.
Amazing French food! We had a seven course mean, it was outstanding! Great cheese tray, wonderful lamb, tasty escargotes, good drinks, very good espresso, delicious desserts, also had a lobster bisque. The wait staff was very knowledgeable of the menu and what it was all made of, very attentive to your needs, constantly bringing freshly baked hot french bread. Truly five star French food!
We had a wonderful dinner, great food, nicely paced between courses, and great service. It was our anniversary and they treated us to a dessert. We each had an appetizer, shared a wonderful beet salad, each had a main course and dessert. We were stuffed but enjoyed every bite.
We wanted to take little bitty bites to make it last longer. So very good and just divine. We will be back many times
Le Fou Frog is one of KC's hidden gems! It's in a non-descript building in River Market. Great service and great food. We had a variety of appetizers and entrees. The escargot and lobster bisque are outstanding. I tried the wild boar loin while others tried the seafood gnocchi.all were perfectly prepared and the meal service sequencing perfect.
Incredible food. The sauces are delightful, the seafood tastes fresh and the the overall quality is unparalleled. I've gone here for many years and no matter what I try, Le Fou Frog never fails to exceed expectations.
Top three restaurant in the KC metro, unequivocally. In my opinion, the best.
My wife and I have been going here every year for our anniversary.for 10 years. I love food, I love trying new places, but this is hard to pass up.
Went there on the Sunday after Bastille Day. Food was average. I had the salmon and it was over cooked and dry. My wife had the trout and it was OK but nothing great. I did have an order of escargot and it was excellent. Over priced for the Quality of the food. Staff was attentive and provided good service.
Absolutely delightful! Went out with friends who were in town for a short time. Service was outstanding and the food was to die for. Parking is on the tighter side but that's common for the River Market in general. Overall Le Fou Frog is a wonderful choice for a nice dinner with friends, coworkers, or date night. I know I'll be back!
Amazing food and drink. This is a higher priced resturant but worth every cent. Out waitress was wonderful. I can't say enough food things!
No other place can transport you to France like this restaurant. There is always something going on to create a great memory shall you be on a date or with friends. Classic location for the food lovers.
Havent been in a while and was really impressed, food was on point and lots of fun visiting on Bastille Day.
