Luna Azteca Mexican Grill, Kansas City MO

This used to be one of our favorite places for Mexican food. However, the prices have gone WAY up after COVID. We understood when they were just trying to survive the pandemic and we ordered & paid at the bar. We understood when they were short staffed. We continued to go even when they started charging for chips & salsa. I wanted to support small business.

Today was the final straw though. We paid the $3.99 for chips & salsa. When we packaged the leftovers from our lunch ($39 for 2 of us) and asked for a salsa to go with the chips from our table, we were told they would "have to" charge us another $3.99 for it. Really? We never got refills of chips OR salsa to the table, but if we want salsa to go with the chips we ALREADY had- you want ANOTHER $3.99?

There are too many excellent options for Mexican food in the Northland to pay this much for what everyone else will happily provide free.

The food and service were decent. But honestly, not good enough to warrant the price tag.

Phenomenal food and even better service. Will definitely be coming back next time I’m in town!

In the past six months, the quality of food here has gone downhill. I ordered the Azteca Dip with ground beef and the dip was very soupy and hardly any cheese was in the dip and chicken quesadillas had no flavor. The only decent food that I ordered were the tacos. This will be my last visit to this place.

First time visiting and will not be returning. Wouldn’t describe as “authentic Mexican” food, more like Mexican influences in some of the menu items. Service is subpar at best. Had an issue with how undercooked the carne asada was and not offered any kind of resolution. Only met with attitude and “so what do you want me to do? ” Amongst that, did not have horchata as it was listed in the menu, did not offer pozole as it showed online and have a pretty limited menu considering they only serve half of the items during lunch/dinner. Overall not a pleasant experience.

Very ricey/pricey for a burrito that wasn't tasty. There wasn't any guacamole and looked way more appetizing than it really was. Saucy tasted like campbells tomato soup in my opinion.

Went in for Happy Hour at 4 pm. We started with one waitress who was knowledgeable then handed off to another one. The 2nd waitress took our order of food and drink. We never saw her again for an hour. A young man delivered our food and after a few minutes I flagged him down, questioning the timing of our bar order. He asked what we ordered and went and found it for us. The drinks were fine. My food order was 2 chicken flautas (because they were out of beef). They were pretty good, but I would not have paid the full price for them. The happy hour price was a bit steep for as thin as they were. The guacamole was not authentic, it had some instant mixed in and consistency was pudding like. The chips and salsa were free and tasty. My bill was accurate but neither of my two friends were charged correctly for their drinks (full price @ $8 instead of happy hour price.) The second waitress appeared and fixed her mistake. I was surprised to see how busy they were getting as we left around 6pm. I probably would not return.

This was our first time we’ve been here. First off you have to pay for chip and salsa. We got queso and it was barley luke warm. The food came out barely warm as well. Definitely wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

We ordered ceviche as a starter.so good and fresh.then 2 different meals which were both delicious.great food and really good service! I would definitely recommend this place!

Overpriced portion sizes. Cold azteca dip and super tiny taco salad. This was not the case in the past. Ordered the Azteca burrito and it looked smaller than a soft taco. Not a fan dining at this restaurant on a Sunday evening. We will drive further out to more reputable Mexican Restaurants. It will be worth the trip!

To clarify, I ordered pick up, I did not dine in but the place was nice.

My dish was the pick two - I did the chipotle enchilada and the chile relleno (dinner) for $11. The enchilada was better than I expected, I really enjoyed that. The relleno was above average for this area, I also enjoyed it.like I said, above average for the area just not the best one I've had (I've been spoiled). Maybe add protein to it to make it better, idk.

Special mentions: 1) The pick two thing at a mexican restaurant is nice 2) I really enjoyed their chips and salsa. I don't know if the batch I got was an accident but the flavor was great and unexpectedly in a medium to hot range. Loved it.

Ordered online, went to pick up food, no one to greet, finally flagged someone down. They just said foods not ready without even checking. Then they kept telling me it wasn't ready for 20 minutes, finally got the food and it was soggy and barely warm. 1st And last time they will get money.

The food was fine. I had the chipotle chicken enchiladas and put their spicy salsa on top because I liked Mexican food spicy. The chipotle sauce was good, but not spicy at all. My refried beans were a little watery and the rice didn’t have much flavor. The staff were absolutely excellent.
