Maryville University reviews
5 The college was overall the best decision for me going for physical therapy as it was the nearest PT school near my home. Going here for PT was a fair decision. We learned a great deal, but it was overly stressful for no reason. If we failed a class, it was “you can apply to re-enter the program a year behind your classmates. ” Whereas MD students at Mizzou would simply be allowed to take another exam in a few weeks if they didn’t meet requirement grades at first on an exam. It seemed as though the PT program wanted the students to fail. They seemed to enjoy watching the students be in fear of failing and their years of schooling be for nothing - like an abuse of power to watch those under them be instilled with stress and fear. I’m not one who is afraid of work either. This is a general thought from classmates and myself.
However, going to this university for degrees that can be completed else where, seems to be a poor decision. Most others I spoke with were getting a degree at the university at a much higher price than other nearby universities would charge. Several of my classmates freshman year realized this and left for better option universities.
The university is also unapologetically, obnoxiously liberal. They claim to be “diverse” and by that the university means it will not tolerate the idea of conservatism. Very on sided, hypocritical.
This is all my opinion, much toned down for public posting.
I was in the application process when I couldn't move past a page where I was being forced to identify as something I'm not. Looking for an education, Not indoctrination.
I attended an online Cyber Security program through MV and honestly it was a total waste. No real world experience, just writing papers and reading books that prepare you for various exams (which NEWS FLASH you can do on your own). The most ridiculous thing is that there were NO LECTURES during the entire course. I never heard an instructions voice. All they did was grade papers and handed out “As”. No real job assistance after the courses were finished. Total waste of money, I strongly suggest against their online programs, you’d probably have better luck attending an intense bootcamp style program with actual job placement assistance.
The masters program part time for the nurse practitioner program was so intense. The school made you believe that you can work and still be a full time mother in the program, WRONG. I went through 4 classes and the fifth class I was required to study hours a day because nursing exams are required. Unfortunately, I can’t get my money back. I wish the school was more honest and not sure if I’m going back next semester. There was no way I was going to do a 16 week course this summer where I had to study nonstop and my children are on summer break. It was impossible to do, so I had no choice but to withdraw. Program is costly as well, costing around 6k a semester. I’m going to have to pray and make a decision considering continuing my master’s at this school.
