Meramec State Park Campgrounds reviews
15I've camped here since I was a kid, obviously in December the place is vacant, but there's good hiking still to be done
Nice campground and quiet. We got completely overrun with skunks though. Around 8: 30 while sitting around the fire we had three skunks that would not leave our campsite alone and no food was left out.
I can't believe I've never camped here before! This place was great! Perfectly spaced lots, well maintained grounds, and easy access to the water. The Sites were booked, but you never felt crowded!
The sites are somewhat level, paved, & scattered with huge mature trees. Showerhouse bathrooms were clean each time we used them. The only downside I encountered was in one of the shower stalls as someone had left dirty wet wipes on the ground. No fault of the Park, some ppl are just hoosiers.
We will definitely be back!
We tent camped. This area was well maintained. The staff was very friendly. I highly recommend
We love this place! This is our second visit. We will come back again the next time we vacation this direction. So peaceful and quiet!
To sum it up, the campground is
quite large with many tall trees, very flat, and has hot showers (at least during our visit in mid-August). The camping sites are back-ins but there were many large rigs.
The campground is located next to the Meramec River but a divider of greenery separates you visually from the river. But there is a river access point within the park. Also, outside of campgrounds there is a nearby beach to swim at.
Location is okay, right by the river but only a few accessible points to the river, there is a lot to do around the area. Can get pretty crowded, and campsites are pretty close to each other. Wildlife roam the campgrounds at night so that's cool, just don't leave food out! Restrooms at the campground were not well maintained. However, I would still come here again very good overall experience, everyone very friendly.
Beautiful! Not very many full hook ups, that was a bit disappointing but plenty of spaces for rv and tent camping. Some turns are tricky for larger campers. It is a bit buggy, pack bug spray, alot of it! Paths to the river are a little tight to walk down with rafts but once you get to the river, you don't care, it's beautiful fun and relaxing!
Bathrooms ran out of toilet paper Saturday evening and wasn't refilled until Sunday mid morning
Went tent camping, easy Check in. All park personnel were polite and helpful. All areas well maintained.
It's clean, has open spaces, cheap, and pet friendly. So much to do around from hiking, to the river, and even a great cave tour. The camp store has a nice selection of alcohol and a grill for a quick bite. We will definitely be back for a longer trip next time.
Words can't describe how great my trip was over mother's Day weekend here! My family and I went camping to celebrate mother's Day and had the best time ever! The staff was so helpful and accommodating throughout the whole weekend! We arrived late at night and a staff member was there to greet us and escort us to our cabin. In the mornings, they had free coffee set out for all campers in the lobby area. The staff had also offered free cookies and popcorn during the day too which was great and very helpful especially with my kids around! The campground was very clean and no trash was on the grounds. Next time my family and I plan a fun camp trip, we will be coming back here! Great place to spend a weekend during the summer at!
Great state campground. Sites are level and have good amount of space around them. Bathroom and showers are clean. 1-2 bars with Verizon cell service. Enough to look up stuff but not to stream.
We always have a great time camping here! Perfect for beginner or Family camping! Close to stores in case anything is forgotten.
This camping site is an incredible value. Only $15 for a basic site (no electric/no water) and it was a really great experience. Every site comes with a picnic table, lantern post, and fire pit (with a grill top). Coming in April we definitely had our choice of any site as very few campers were here during the week, so we chose proximity to the playground and shower house. The bathrooms and showers are incredibly well maintained. When we arrived we just came to the site we selected online. It was nice to not have to wait to check-in.very smooth process.
