Mercy West is apparently short on nurses (I realize this is a nationwide concern). The cleanliness was a concern - blood on the floors of the hallways that weren't cleaned in days. I had staph and MRSA infection and they didn't isolate me. One night nurse forgot to give me my antibiotics which sent me in to another fever and I felt like I was going to die. The same nurse wore a CLOTH mask two days in a row. Another night nurse complained about having to work. And then a different night nurse asked ME if I could take two medications together. Unreal. Mercy West - please get it together. Pay your nurses and get the best. Stop paying for travel nurses - and pay the ones in your own community. I hope the first couple of nurses in the ER stay for your sake - they treated me with absolute kindness and care. This was such a horrible and scary experience. I thank god for the infectious disease doctor and the hospital doctors that were there - I'm alive because of them.

Mercy ER is the worst. Literally have been sitting here for 4 hours. So many people are here needing help and not receiving it. It’s really sad

My care, for the most part, was good at mercy.i had issues with the billing.i got over-billed for 2 separate charges and they were only willing to address one charge.everyone i talked to was friendly, but we can’t afford to visit a hospital and be billed exorbitant amounts later.

Mercy Enterprise is no longer the competent trustworthy hospital it once was. It is truly an enterprise. Their goal is simply to make money - not care for you in any way. And it shows for sure. The ER is an absolute joke except it isn’t funny

Hello, my name is Chief Joe Rabin
I'm retired Navy and would like to do a review of the medical
service I received at Mercy Hospital Saint Louis Mo.
I''m not to good at civilian lingo and about all I know is Navy
slang but i'll do the best I can!
I arrived at the Mercy Hospital Emergency Room this past week lucky to get through the Hatch (door) I'd had a heart attack and the emergency room put me in a wheel chair and said I must wait for a room to be cleaned as they were going to admit me, I waited several hours and was beginning to wonder if I'd ever get to the assigned room (Navy would take a few minutes to field day/clean a room and inspect it. Once checked into the assigned room things quickly began to change. I was under the professional care of Cardiologist Dr. Beanne and his professional Corp of Nurses (Mickie D, Nick. James. Jennnifer Smith. Beauita. Alma.and any other I have forgot to mention. I was impressed as they had me climbing back up on deck within 3 days (outstanding). They continued to check on me day & night and on the 3rd day told me I was well & strong enough to cliimb back up on deck. (Fantastic Service). Hopefully the brass up topside that man the helm will take a few minutes out of their busy schedule to send down som e well deserved appreciation to this outstanding medical team tasked to handle the high seas & heavy rolls of todays modern medical challenges. Perhaps a bonus, pay raise even some promotions they all certainly deserve such recognition. Stay Well & Safe and Thanks again so much for getting me back on deck and fair winds & following seas. Nurses are rude and ignorant. Politeness, manners and empathy should be required to be a nurse. Especially the ones in ER/trauma. They left my client in ER department for 2 days. Didn’t do personal care, sent her home with pressure ulcers and her tongue had a hard crust on it from them not swabbing her mouth. The quality of healthcare has declined everywhere but a hospital, no way.

The nurses and doctors here and all the staff and volunteers are absolutely amazing! A special shout-out to the nurses in the burn unit and the playroom! You guys made our stay so much easier and you all were so helpful and so kind! Thank you!

We had a procedure for my son at Mercy on Ballas, and from start to finish our experience with Mercy was wonderful. Each staff member we encountered were all very kind and knowledgeable, the front information desk, registration, GI clinic, lab, nurses and doctor. The facilities were very clean. The area inside the main entrance is beautiful, like an upscale hotel. Every time we had a question someone was available with an answer. The online patient account helped keep us even more quickly informed. The doctor and nurses could not have been better. 10/10 recommend.

I was in the ER from January 11-12 and was moved to the fourth floor of the main hospital (room 4361) through January 13. I had seen many nurses and staff throughout my time there and I have to say Keslee (from the fourth floor) was amazing. She was super sweet, very attentive, and brought a positive attitude. I hope Keslee sees this and knows that I truly appreciated her!

After 30+ years of being a patient here I am done. The referral department sent me somewhere that doesn't take my insurance. They also accused me of just being fat for years while I was being undiagnosed with PCOS. Mercy does not practice humanist bedside manner. Just start going to a different hospital that practices caring for patients instead of how much money they can get. Mercy, quite literally, is becoming just as bad as DePaul

Sat in the ER for 3 and 1/2 hours, after expressing numerous times to numerous staff that I couldn't breathe, am asthmatic, and have been seeing colors and having a hard time standing. I was basically told by all the staff I mentioned not being able to breathe, and feeling incredibly wrong, a whole four different people, to tell the other staff if it gets worse, and I did. They sat me up there for three and a half hours to wait out my asthma attack, and you will be hearing from a lawyer. It is wrong and unlawful as medical staff to blatantly ignore a patient, someone who actively passed out and lost consciousness in their lobby due to lack of proper oxygen, and you should be ashamed of the kind of treatment people were getting here.
I even unfortunately, was not the only one here, but everyone who wasn't screaming or causing a scene in the lobby seemed to still be getting seen first.
Highly unprofessional and I am not paying a bill for sitting in their lobby

Can count on getting appointments. They take care of their patients and have good bedside unlike their neighbors at MoBap

Do NOT go here if you are a person of color! BIPOC constantly have their medical symptoms downplayed and ignored. I was stuck with Dr. Shaker (I think that’s how it’s spelled) and he was absolutely awful. He has a poor bedside manner and doesn’t listen to patients. He also had no clue what to do when it was such a easy fix. I almost died due to the negligence of him and this hospital. I’m seriously considering a lawsuit, if you value your life then don’t come here.

Today 1/9/23. I'm really disappointed in the nursing staff and security guards at Mercy Hospital St Louis. If you love your love ones this not the hospital to take them to. My daughter and I was just put out the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) by people on power struggle, because I asked for pain pill for my daughter. My daughter was on 6 liters of oxygen, pnuemonia, IV antibiotic, sepsis and shortness of breath. Being scheduled for drain placement in right chest. Staff nurse says me asking was aggressive to her. Security showed up and said I need to leave and not return. I ask what I do and he said, "Showed aggressive behavior. " I said I wasn't yelling or raised my voice. Staff nurse unhooked my daughter and gave us w/c to leave hospital. My daughter asked for oxygen and nurse said no you leaving AMA. I said, "No she not, she was asked to leave also. Security guard was very rude, unethical, impolite, bad -mannered, untrained in customer service, and inconsiderate. Security guard walked less than Covid-9 6 feet distance. When told him ur in my personal space and pointing his fingers in my face with his fist balled up. Plus my daughter cant walk on her own or care for herself. Called Mercy charge nurse, Melissa, to talk about incident and what happen letting her know my daughter needs oxygen. But she wasn't interested in what I had to say and rushed me off phone. The incident was unwanted and my daughter had to go from ICU to parking garage to car to home (portable oxygen) to another hospital to get the help she needed.

My grandfather came in for some problems he is having with his stool.the hospital was very dirty it didn’t leave the best experience with with workers as well. They made 2 errors taking his blood and had to redo it, they prescribed him perc while his already taking high pain medication. They barely seen the doctor. They got there at 10 am and finally left at 9 pm. My grandfather had to wait Over an hr to go to the bathroom because the nurses “didn’t see the call light” we understand it’s a busy time but there is no reason to feel uncomfortable or unimportant. I personally wouldn’t recommend this hospital

My wife’s doctor told us to come in todya to have the baby and now they are making up rules saying that they can’t do it now and we have to wait and are sending us home. This hospital is a joke because we drove 2 hours to the hospital when they called us at 6am and I took a week of work off with my vacation days and I don’t get those back

It’s a known saying around the St. Louis and surrounding areas that call this hospital “The Palace on Ballas” and it is so true. My experience at this hospital was beyond amazing. The midwives at Mercy Birthing center were absolutely incredible as well as the nurses that helped deliver my baby for the first time. Incredibly understanding and incredibly helpful. I will never go anywhere else if I decide to have any more babies. This is 100% the place to go for labor and delivery. I always look back and remember just how kindly I was treated and cared for here. The rooms are spacious and the midwives and nurses are so knowledgeable, and truly care for you and your little one. I wish I could relive the day over and over that’s how much I loved my experience here.
