Metro Hardwoods, Inc. reviews
12The owner helped personally. Even though I only wanted 1 piece of wood, he acted like he had all the time in the world to help me and truly seemed to want to make me happy. I wasn't ready to buy, but he put the piece in back and said he'd be happy to hold it a few weeks, no payment or pushiness. The piece I wanted (10' x 14" x 2" ambrosia maple) cost just under $100. I'd seen similar wood for hundreds of dollars online. This store is a great find.
Discovered this gem today. Amazing variety of domestic and exotic hardwoods. They even have Baltic Birch plywood in several sizes and widths. Customer service was excellent. The guys were very patient with my barely -amateur knowledge. My new favorite store!
Don’t waste your time going here. Just go to schutte lumber or somewhere else instead. They have a decent selection of wood but customer service is terrible. I read the reviews before I went but was looking for some rustic alder wood. Guy behind front counter didn’t even acknowledge me walking in the door and was very short on answers. Not very helpful at all and will not be going back due to the terrible customer service.
Excellent selection of wood, some exotic and in different sizes. I'd you can't take the full piece you can sometimes have it shortened although certain parameters must be kept intact on the piece left over.
They have a great selection of hardwoods and exotic wood!
Customer service is terrible! Beware of the lecture you get if you don’t read the sign about the 2.5 % CC fee! I was scolded after not reading the signs that are posted! Mind you there are signs everywhere! A nice reminder from the employee that they charge a fee for a CC would have been great. Instead I was told I should have read the signs!
I left feeling like I would never return there! And I probably won’t.
Not sure of the guys name but he needs to be in a different business! One he works by himself! Just rude!
Jeff, yes I was, thank you for recognizing my 28 years of military service with a discount! Not everyone does that so I am appreciative!
However yes, I left feeling angry after your response! Thank you for the apology.
Wonderful selection and great prices of hardwoods! The staff is kind and helpful when looking for lumber for your next project. They sell quality materials at a reasonable price. Clean store and all materials are clearly labeled.
Great selection of hardwood and plywood. We picked up some cherry veneer ply and birch for a console build. The staff was friendly as well.
In my opinion the best selection and pricing for wood turning woods in metro area and other odd ball projects I do.
Best place in the metro for hardwood and supplies. The staff is always helpful and knowledge.
Jeff is the best! Always listens to my beginner questions. Store is super clean even by today's standard. Lots of wood choices and in stock kits. 5 stars is not enough.
This is an awesome supplier! I had been buying all my wood at Schutee for 20 years, not having known of this alternative. Great selection of species and very good quality. It was easy to find plenty of available stock for my last few projects. We wanted something unique for a new bathroom vanity i was building and found a great selection of Beech which I had never worked, and the cabinet and shelves are beautiful.
I'm an experienced hobbyist woodworker but new to turning. Their selection of premium hardwoods is great with most of their stock being nice and straight. Their prices are reasonable, especially when on sale, given they are a retail store (vs.buying from a wholesaler). Staff have always been helpful when I ask for help. Otherwise they leave me to my own devices as I look around the store. With a little help from them I was able to get what I needed, and a few tips, on getting in to turning. In fact, I can't keep turning blanks in my own shop now as my son has gotten into it too! My son and I visit frequently. Good job Metro Hardwoods!
