I regretted signing my lease one week in. I had an issue with the water in the kitchen that took over 3 months to resolve, with more than one occasion where my water supply in the kitchen was shut off. Trying to communicate with my landlords often felt like I was burdening them, even though I was paying them to live here and was pretty tolerant and patient with the multiple issues here.
Plumbing here is a chaotic network, so there were many nights there wasn’t anything more than lukewarm water coming out of the shower- in the one month before breaking my lease I took ice cold showers every day. The building as a whole has numerous plumbing problems, most recently it was discovered that only one of the three boilers used for the entire buildings water is actually in a usable condition.
Two months into my lease term the garage was shut down for repairs and we were placed in a garage one block away from the building. The other half of the garage occupants were placed in a lot across the street, with subpar security allowing for frequent and multiple car break ins due to the rampant homeless population surrounding the apartment.
The walls here are thin. If you have the misfortune of having a neighbor who either doesn’t work or has a veeeeery casual WFM situation, then you’ll be subject to bass-boosted music shaking your apartment walls and floors at random times of the day, for hours at a time. If you live below a loud video gamer, get ready to hear intermittent cussing, furniture (?) slamming, and screams in the evenings, bleeding into the early morning hours. Quiet hours are NOT enforced here, mostly because there’s not really anyone to call after hours. Calling the property manager isn’t going to work either, because 9 times out of 10 you’re going to get her voicemail and never hear back again. But she’ll make the time to spam forward the entire apartment the groveling emails she gets from the few tenants that actually like living here.
This is not a true smoke free building, which is something I had tried to confirm two times before signing my lease here. The property manager then told my landlords that the metropolitan’s definition of a “smoke free building” means only the common areas, and tenants can smoke whatever they want, at any time, in any quantity, in their units. Asthmatics, beware, this place is a potheads paradise. The elevators frequently reek of it and multiple units with small children and people with allergies have complained about smoke entering their unit from the vents. Weed and tobacco smoke from my upstairs and next door neighbors constantly came into my apartment, triggering my asthma, migraines, and allergies to the point where I had to keep the vent off, cover it up with aluminum foil, and live with no AC in the summer for months despite using an air filter. There’s also random gaps throughout the apartment walls and cabinetry where neighbors’ tobacco and marijuana-tinted air would filter in.
Fire alarms at all hours of the day. And also random 8 hour water shut offs. Recently they started turning off the heat for 8 hours for “maintenance”. The Front desk will let anybody have the key to your apartment, without confirming with the tenant or landlord beforehand. As a girl living alone, this was a genuine cause of concern and alarm when it happened to me on more than one occasion despite putting a note with the front desk to be texted before letting anyone into my home.
As student, this was too disruptive for me to live in with the air pollution, noise pollution, safety concerns, and stress from parts of the apartment building that were in poor functioning condition. I would never recommend living here. If you have no choice, examine everything you can on your tour. Tour on weekends or on weekdays after 4pm when a lot of your potential next door neighbors will be home, just to see what their noise / smoke levels are and whether that’s something you can live next to. If the reviews don’t deter you, join the Facebook page and see what tenants (renters and owners) are having to deal with.

Pure HELL. Be careful getting any services in this building. It is not safe for women. Especially getting a massage!

This was a beautiful place to live. I have lived here for 6 years. I brought yoga to this community for years. Unfortunately what has transpired with new management and the current board is tragic. Lots of illegal activity happening all driven by people who make “money”. Classless humans. Currently I am being harassed and targeted by management. I am a renter and it’s unbelievable how horrid these people are. I’ve lived in many places in many cities, this is by far the worse treatment I have ever encountered. I have a lawyer and have spoken to the police about my rights and safety. Do not own here. If you do you might need to sue. If you’re a woman please reconsider it is not safe here for you. Again do not own or rent here. The “money” People want it to feel like a retirement center with their rules that suit them all the time while having no yoga.

I just have questions: is the fire alarm still going off all the time? & has the security gotten better?

Been here a couple months and it's pretty disappointing so far. There's been 2? 3? False fire alarms, the best was when it was 3am and wasn't turned off for about 10-15 minutes.no fires or emergencies yet so that's kinda comforting? Super hard to understand how this is an issue that keeps occurring. There are constant plumbing issues, there's a 10-15% chance that whatever you're flushing isn't gonna make it the first time.then there's the noise; if you live anywhere near someone with a newborn/toddler then CONGRATRULATIONS! You're taking the journey with them.the property manager will tell you there's nothing they can/will do.the cherry-on-the-top tho is the building maintenance/staff that park in the driveway in front of the garage; it really completes the morning routine.edit: maintenance is in my unit so often i'm about to start invoicing the complex for a sublease.edit edit: I could write a loooooong review detailing a myriad of incidences. Often, I'm contacted by the office while working, which is problematic as I'm not at work to field calls and issues with my condo. To make it simple; DO NOT LIVE HERE.if you live here and can get out, do it. 0/10 experience at every level. Jenn, the property manager, is an abject, unmitigated disaster of a professional, void of any qualities one would expect of someone whose job it is to service tenants. It's a bizarro world of passive aggressiveness and incompetence. I just wish i could flush my toilet and not be harassed by the people i give money to. This isn't possible here.update

I am currently looking up false alarm fire ordinances and who to report repeat violators to.today, at 5: 30 AM, was the 10th? False fire alarm that occurred in the dead of night/morning in less than a year.this place is a straight clown show.

I recently had the unfortunate experience of residing in the Metropolitan Condominiums, and I must say it was nothing short of a complete disaster. From the moment I stepped foot into this complex, I was met with disappointment at every turn. Allow me to share my grievances and provide an honest review of this nightmarish condominium property.

The maintenance of this property was abysmal, to say the least. The common areas were perpetually dirty and poorly maintained. The hallways were grimy, the carpets stained, and the walls covered in unidentifiable smudges. It was evident that cleanliness was not a priority for the management, despite the exorbitant fees residents were expected to pay.

The management team was utterly incompetent and unresponsive to residents' needs. Numerous complaints were made regarding broken facilities, malfunctioning elevators, and pest infestations, yet they were met with apathy and indifference. The management's lack of professionalism and inability to address even the simplest of concerns was beyond frustrating.

The so-called security measures in place were laughable. The entrance gates were often left wide open, allowing anyone to enter the property without scrutiny. The promised security personnel were rarely seen, leaving residents feeling vulnerable and unsafe. The lack of proper security systems and protocols posed a significant risk to the well-being of the residents.

While this condominium property boasted a range of amenities, they were nothing more than empty promises. The fitness center was poorly equipped and unkempt, rendering it virtually unusable. The swimming pool was frequently closed for maintenance, depriving residents of a basic amenity they were paying for. The exorbitant fees for these subpar amenities were unjustifiable and simply not worth it.

The rules and regulations imposed by the management were excessively strict and arbitrary. Residents were constantly bombarded with a laundry list of restrictive guidelines that impeded their freedom to enjoy their own homes. It felt like living in a totalitarian regime rather than a condominium community.

In conclusion, the Metropolitan Condominiums was an absolute nightmare. From the lackluster maintenance and incompetent management to the shoddy construction and nonexistent security, it was a complete disaster from start to finish. I would strongly advise anyone considering living in this property to reconsider and explore other options. Save yourself the headache and frustration of residing in this poorly managed and substandard condominium property.

Terrible place to live, my friend lives here and the experience was miserable. The only thing keeping this building standing is the walls

If I could give this 0 stars I would. New management is not adequately skilled or trained to run a condo of this capacity. She’s allowing a resident to help her make decisions. Days without air, months without hot water, ridiculous fines, violations of basic rights as tenants/owners. This account is so low volume pay wise corporate doesn’t care. They brush you off. I’ve filed complaints with the city and Housing Authority. I would not move here. Move next door, they have better amenities, concierge 24/7, it’s nicer, same price, and you have quiet enjoyment! This used to be a great place to live but it feels like subsidized low income housing and even people that have financial hardships should be treated better. We are being robbed of amenities, being asked to do ridiculous things in order to not be fined, while major issues like security and safety go unaddressed. Because only allowing one fob per unit makes sense and keeps us safe after a homeless man shot himself on a top floor, storage units have been broken into. But since the lockdown for more secure premises …. One guy was able to enter our building at least twice in one day. The hot water that was “fixed” doesn’t work, the water pressure is now horrible, but they’ve put in a heated pool while your water isn’t hot. And they’re buying hideous Christmas decorations, and flower pots that aren’t maintained and pretty much dead in the front of the building. Taking tenants parking spaces for staff. There’s an an obvious lack of knowledge amongst management and the board, lack or prioritization, and for some reason planting flowers, adding seat cushions, and BASIC cosmetic improvements is supposed to surpass all the BS going on that’s dead wrong.living here is insufferable and I can’t believe homeless people want to come in as much as they do. It’s time for new management. The value of the building is deprecating and people are telling others not to live here. As soon as I’m able I’m departing and I encourage others too as well. Would not recommend living here! There are other buildings close by with better amenities and comparable prices. Try those first and if this is a last resort … try again!

New management’s front desk employee was AWOL when a gunshot went off on the 13th floor. Upon calling the front desk immediately after the gunshot NO ONE answered. Upon calling the backup number NO ONE answered. A full explanation of how this happened and how this will be prevented in the future must be given - owners/renters pay for 24/7 security!

Not happy here anymore.
I’ve been living in this condo for about a year. It’s been great so far, but I got a horrible experience recently. And it changed my perspective. One day I came to my place and realized
somebody had come in and left a mess. It looked like some construction had happened. I had never heard about any maintenance and never requested it. While I was trying to clean some mess, someone knocked on the door and tried to unlock it, so I opened it for him. He was one of the construction team. He had my apt key, and he did not know what was wrong.
So I had to talk to the management. One of a lady in managementnt said she never handed the key to anyone. (Then who did it?)
So I told her, “I don’t care but make sure to notify me before something happens, and please do not leave a mess. ”
However, I came home today. The entire place is covered with drywall dust and footsteps on the floor, and I don’t even know where I should start to clean.
The worst thing is I still don’t know what they had to fix.
