I would have to rate this dining experience as fair. The tacos were decent, but all of their salsas are too thin and runny for my taste. Drinks are overpriced and the service could have been much better. The atmosphere is okay, but dated. I'm afraid that I won't be returning any time soon.

Had dinner at Mexican Villa. We had the Sanchos, 1 enchilada style, and 1 plain.
We also had yellow cheese dip with both mild and sweet sauces.
The food was great as always, the service was good and the place was clean.
Great place if you're looking for Tex-mex style food.

If you're looking for atmosphere, S. Campbell location is a fave. But if you just want a quality dinner, then this location will work.

The food was gross. They use literal watered-down taco sauce to dip chips in. Burrito was good but was more like a dip.
Service was good except the teen waiting on us seemed less than enthusiastic about being there. Filled our drinks with a quickness. The decor is Mexican themed but looked cheap. Won't be coming back I'd rather dip chips in salsa not nasty taco sauce juice.

“The plates are hot” at the iconic Mexican Villa West!
This is the only Mexican Villa location I have tried. The last time I looked at the menu here was 1975. I have not needed to look at the menu since. I have and always will order one meal “The Chico Plate. ”
I eat here for two reasons the Chico Plate and the hot sauce. The hot sauce, I could drink with a straw. It is hot with wonderful flavors. Take a bite of it on a chip; the endorphins kick in and then regardless of the burn there is no stopping. The Chico Plate is about the same. It is a simple meal. A very nicely spiced ground beef enchilada, beans, and rice. The whole plate is covered with some of the best tasting red sauce of any Mexican restaurant I have ever dined. On top of it all is crisp fresh lettuce and chopped tomatoes. It all works together, to make one of my all-time favorite Mexican meals.
Mexican Villa has been in business since 1951. They must have a strong local customer base, because they have expanded across Springfield. It is kind of a cult thing for the locals. It’s a long drive for me, but absolutely essential at least once or twice a year.
Is it the best Mexican food in Springfield? Don’t know don’t care!
If you are looking for other Mexican restaurants in the area, check out my reviews in my collection "Jalapeno Highway" on Yelp. I've probably been there.

How do you not have fajitas or chimichangas on the menu. They give each person a tiny tiny bowl of salsa and the chips were very hard. Server didn’t give us any refills. Will not go back

As a Springfieldian, I love Mexican Villa. Burrito Enchilada Style, home made chips, and hot sauce. Easy veggie options as well

I eat at Mexican a lot. Got 3 tacos from there today they were awful. The shells were very tough could not even bite them. The chips were stale. I was very disappointed in my take out. For the price the food should be better. I.did not eat them. Seems like your workers and you.all would take more pride in the food. Not as good as it use to be. Have you changed the shells and chips?

I ordered their chicken enchilada plate and was pretty disappointed. The portion was small compared to other Mexican restaurants I’ve visited, and the cheese sauce had a strange flavor. The chicken was a bit dry and didn’t have a good flavor either. This all would have been fine if the meal alone hadn’t cost a whopping $19.46. For the quality and portion of this dish, I think $11 would have been acceptable.

I will note, they were quick to fulfill my Togo order and placing the order over the phone was easy. The rice was pretty good too.
Hopefully this review helps to improve this dish.

8/17/23 We really like this place. The food is always good. If you want something different, try the taco burger. Get the fries, they are wonderful. Our server was just wonderful.

Great food but their signature dish burrito enchilada style has gone up in price by around 50%! Prices have become so high there we only go about half as much. Staff very friendly and work hard to please. Overall not bad really. We like them but for the prices could go places more upscale for same cost.

Everything was great except the prices have gone thru the roof sadly! We used to eat there every week or so, but now we are cutting way back to every other month or so.

This was was totally okay…. If the plates were like $10 each, and the queso was like $4. For reference, we got a queso, a burrito, and tamales, and our bill was almost $50 after a 15% tip. This place is absolutely not worth that. I could eat at a nice Japanese steakhouse for that money, and this place has overall hole in the wall vibes. The food was fine, but absolutely not worth the price I paid. The prices of this restaurant reflect a high end Mexican restaurant, and it is just some average rundown Mexican restaurant you expect to find on the corner of any small town. A
