Mother Earth Coffee Hyde Park

I live on the road, and try to always seek out a unique location for coffee.

Today took us to downtown Kansas City and the Mother Earth Coffee Company. We ordered espresso drinks and breakfast.

Meticulously crafted, the espresso is more of a medium roast, and does not have any burnt overtones at all, it was delicious and satisfying.

We ordered a breakfast croissant and also a chorizo burrito. Excellent flavor, and texture, and they were served hot and crisp.

Plenty of parking in a covered parking ramp next door.

Great vibe, and atmosphere.

Rad coffee shop with comfortable clean seating plentiful power outlets some cool art and design and a gas fireplace. How much more could one ask for? ! #EatMoreHemp and drink more coffee!

Hidden little gem of a coffee shop in the Hyde park area. Everyone is so friendly, and the atmosphere is fireplace cozy. There is plenty of seating. Good coffee, cappuccino, latte, and drip coffee, and food. I enjoy the waffle Sandwich the most. If you can't decide, there is the Everything Bagel sandwhich, that has everything on it.

Wonderful coffee! Tasty and strong. I had a delicious pastry, reminiscent of a pop tart, but oh so much better! This is my new favorite place! The staff is friendly and quick. The store is clean and comfortable.it is much less noisy than other coffee shops. Parking can be a challenge, though they do have reserved spaces in the adjacent garage. Those spaces were full on my visit, but I did find reasonably close street parking. I can't say enough good things about this location!

This place is kind of hidden, but it is so great! Had my friends get their hot lattes was so delicious and I got their ice vanilla latte. Absolutely recommend this spot for your next coffee fix!

My new favorite coffee hangout. I was afraid I wouldn't find a more comfortable place than the Roasterie cafes, and this one is both more pleasant and has better coffee (IMO). Plus, they don't push ideas or opinions, just coffee. I haven't tried their baked goods yet. Will be back!

Love this place! I am staying in KC for the weekend and my friend recommended this place for coffee. It was walking distance from their apartment, so it was great. The workers were so friendly and fun to talk to. I can tell this is a great work environment. I got am iced caramel latte and and everything bagel sandwich. Both were DELICIOUS. I came back the next day because I liked it so much and there's a parking garage next to it. The workers remembered my name and joked around with me. I asked what went with lavender syrup and they suggested honey. I got a honey lavender iced latte and chorizo burrito. Once again, both were DELICIOUS. I highly recommend this coffee shop. The coffee is great, the food is great, and it's all reasonably priced! I loved the atmosphere and the overall vibe. Can't wait to come back next time I'm in KC.

going into buying this bagel, i already knew it was going to be the most delicious bagel i’ve ever had.it was the picture perfect bagel.just at first glance i knew what i was getting myself into: heaven.the bagel was perfectly crafted.a beautiful stack of sausage, egg, bacon, spinach, and whatever that yummy delicious mayo type substance was.the second i took my first bite i began to ascend.all of the yummy and delicious flavors coming together to make something magical.from this moment on, i don’t want to take a single bite of any other bagel unless it is this exact everything bagel sandwich from mother earth coffee in hyde park.my life has truly changed forever.thank you for introducing me to the most wonderful bagel to ever exist.

The low stars are for the inconsistencies of the food and drinks. Every time I get a frozen drink I don’t know if I’m getting a properly blended drink or one with too much ice and not enough flavor, etc. Their food has the same inconsistency issues. The price is too steep to not know what you are getting but it sure is good when made correctly. It would be a good idea to do food training just make sure that their entire staff is making things appropriately.

Ambience is pretty good!

Good place to sit and relax.
I’ve tried Americano one day and it was a bit okay. And on the next day I’ve tried Caramel and it was really good.

I’ve also added Dark chocolate syrup to my coffee. That’s completely optional. You also have different syrups to choose!

I took a small sized cup and I felt full already!

This is a nice, cozy coffee shop. Cheerful service and the food is great. I can recommend the Everything Bagel Sandwich, the Strawberries and Cream smoothie, and the mocha latte.

The staff are what really make this place for me. They’re nice but aren’t kissing up most of the time and if you stop to ask questions (I have to for health reasons) they don’t get annoyed and are genuinely helpful. Totally recommend the smoothies!

I don't even want to tell people how good this place is because then it will be overrun with folks talking loud and burping smoothies.

This is hands down my favorite coffee shop in Midtown. I'm pretty picky about my coffee and usually balk at paying $5-7 for a breakfast sandwich, but the coffee and food here are worth every penny. The food is fresh, fills me up, and doesn't leave me feeling gross afterward. The coffee is strong, and you can tell the employees really care. The atmosphere is inviting-it makes you want to sit down and stay awhile. I seriously can't say enough good things about this place!

I normally LOVE this coffee shop, it's right across the street from my apartment and I get coffee there often. Today however, I had the worst customer experience service there. I went in and ordered a large iced caramel latte which is my go to drink of choice so I'm pretty familiar with the price of the drink. Generally before tip and tax or any discounts (I get a small discount because I live at a Mac property.) this drink costs me $5.25. Today before tip and tax and any discounts the cost of this drink was $6.50, over a dollar increase. I asked the employees if they raised their prices and they said yes, however when I got my receipt I saw that not only did the base price of the drink go up but I also saw that they charged me for flavoring in my latte on a drink that has always already had flavoring built into the price of it. So essentially I paid almost a dollar more for my drink than I should have because it wasn't rung in correctly. When I tried to express this to the employees not only did they not really understand or offer to help me understand, but when I asked what price I should expect to pay for my drink in the future one of the employees (a gentlemen with shoulder length dark hair and facial hair) told me I should expect the higher price but hope for the lower price because it really just depends on which employee is ringing me up and what they feel like charging. Last I checked that isn't how pricing works in a retail establishment, food and beverage or otherwise. I don't mind if Mother Earth raises their prices but they need to provide a consistent customer experience or they're going to lose business. Nobody wants to go into a coffee shop having no idea what the price of their regular drink will be from day to day. My drink is still delicious but that experience left a bad taste in my mouth.

***Editing my review to reflect the follow up that I received from someone in upper management after sending a feedback request via their website. I received a sincere apology email with a promise to follow up with the employees/management at this location about my poor experience, especially the issue of the inconsistency which was the major reason I posted this poor review. I was also awarded enough loyalty points to my account to cover the cost of the drink I purchased that day. I am impressed with the follow up I received so I have edited my review from one star to four stars.

Peaches and Cream smoothie, Mocha Cold Drink, Waffle Breakfast Sandwich, and a Bagel Breakfast Sandwich. I have to say, this was the most AMAZING thing I’ve had there. Although, they are pricy, they are delicious for the price and worth every dollar.

Arrived here in the afternoon and wasn't too busy. The Egg & Soy Chorizo Burrito was wonderful and I was thankful they had some scones leftover, cinnamon scone was phenomenal. I was disappointed that they didn't specialize in savory scones, but each place as their speciality. This coffee spot is great for reading or doing whatever work you need to do. Calm presence here and quality service.

My favorite is the Turkey Club which is big enough for two meals.
They always provide a compostable take away box if you ask. Which if you live in a MAC apartment of which there are over 1200 in the neighborhood no recycling is provided! Blame KCMO.
Recycling and composting bins on site are available however.

Coffee isn't anything stunning but the people and atmosphere totally make up for it. Sweetest employees ever.
