New Madrid Historical Museum reviews
15Very small but interesting. The guy in charge (Jeff I think) is super friendly and fun to chat with.
For a small location this place packs in a ton of history. Some interactive items for kids, and I would recommend going as part of a road trip.
Just over the levee there is also a lookout point on the river with built in binoculars that's amazing.
Museum played 2 videos and then we walked through the museum. Upstairs was a model of a typical 1800 home which was interesting. My hubby and I both enjoyed it.
An interesting piece of history! Jeff is enthusiastic and knowledgeable about sharing as much interesting information as you want to hear. This museum is a small-town gem that's well worth visiting.
We thought it was a good little museum. Very informative. I’ve read a lot about the earthquakes and I read some new things and heard some new information on the video.
This museum was enjoyable to visit. You can spend an hour or so on it and get a history of the New Madrid area. We were greeted with with good hospitality coming in the door. If you have any questions you can be assured that they could be answered. I recommend you take some time to visit the museum and relax and enjoy a history lesson!
Good little museum for a small town. We went because we pass the area on our spring and fall travels. Lately the wife had read a book on the New Madrid earthquake of 1811-12. They have a couple short videos one historical and the other geological that set up your tour of the facility. Well worth the $5 entrance fee for adults.
It was nice for a small museum. Lots of information about the earthquake. Most people don't know anything about it so it was very interesting.
Has video explaining the great equate in this region.n nice museum of artifacts during that time frame
The interpreter there was really good and was very knowledgeable. What was in the museum was good I would have liked to seen a lot more stuff in there and bigger it only took us about 10-15 minutes ago through the museum.
Excellent little museum with so many interesting historical items. And the Riverwalk is awesome.
This is a hidden gem. A well maintained easily accessible museum.afterwards go for a river walk.
That museum that little Museum was amazing very very talented and forthgoing Museum curator he was very outgoing knew what he was talking about we enjoyed every minute of our tour
Packed with information! A collection of items far beyond what you'd expect in such an out of the way place. Jeff is very friendly, enthusiastic, helpful and well informed. Ask questions! One of the best collections on site is the information in his head! Also, a great collection of antiques giving insight into American history.and an impressive collection of intact Native American artifacts, not just shards.
Just stopped for the heck of it! Really neat place! Couple hundred yards from the Mississippi River, Civil War site. All of us from California enjoyed it. Recommend it. Really good BBQ wagon down the street.
