Northern Tool + Equipment, Independence MO

I just left this store looking for a pack of nails, you know the kind you use with a hammer and the guy told me they didn't carry nails. How can a hardware store, that sells hammers not sell nails? I don't get it. And I'm almost for certain I've gotten nails here before. Guess I'm on an infamous hunt for some nails. Westlake hardware here I come uggghhuu

I called Ken at Northern Tool this morning after we received a dolly from their Amazon store missing a wheel, he asked us to bring it in and they replaced it quickly, easily, and without hesitation the same day. We’re so thankful for the friendly and fast customer service!

Very well run store with an incredible selection of quality merchandise. Friendly helpful service at all times, this is where professionals shop with confidence.

Nice clean store with friendly and helpful employees. The store doesn't always have much on hand stock so I often times order and have it shipped to the store.

I have placed several orders and picked them up. Service is quick and excellent and everyone is very nice. I like looking around the store because they have a lot more than tools. I found a big fan, a utility cart and benches that can convert to a picnic table. I love this store.

Yesterday I visited my local Northern Tool in Independence Mo. I was looking to purchase a piece of equipment which was on sale. I felt I had done my homework and was ready to buy. However when I asked if it was in stock and if I could get help loading it into my pick up, the manager immediately had an attitude and demanded to know what I intended to use it for. “Well, it’s a wood chipper, ” I said, “I was hoping to chip some wood. ”
“What kind of wood? ”
“Suddenly I felt intimidated as if I needed to justify myself wanting to purchase his product.
“Maple, ” I replied, “Do you not want to sell it to me? ”
“Well, I just don’t want you bring it back. You should buy another brand! Besides, the only one I have is buried in the back room and I’m not going to dig it out! ” With that he stormed off. I waited about seven minutes and he did not return. So I left.
I’d have to say, I’ve gotten better customer service at Harbor Freight.
Perhaps this gentleman was having a bad day, but he certainly took it out on me. I give them zero stars.
Still looking for a wood chipper.

Update: Part fit exactly as the original, looks good and vents operate as they should. Only issue is the silk screening of the left wiper is incorrect. It is opposite of what it should be.

I called and asked what they had in stock for pull-behind sprayers designed to work with an ATV. Ryan, who answered the phone, said, “We’re short staffed and it’s really hard to tell because you’re being ambiguous. ” I’m not sure what’s difficult to understand about the above question. Ryan is a very pathetic, condescending individual who is emblematic of the cancer in society. If I were his supervisor, I’d fire him immediately. What a scumbag.

Buyer beware their extended warranty in house is junk they currently don't have a tech nor do they have a clue when they will. First and last purchase.

Have bought two items from them so far. Customer service beats HD and so do there prices.

Kevin and Mike and a third guy that works at this location really got me invested in making sure my purchases are made at northern tool. HD has gone down hill, Lowe’s has been and always be the yuppy HD. This hits the spot, feels like you got a place only the smart ones know about.

Yes I just left Northern tool and equipment, overall I like the store but the employees not so much. They're typically rude and unhelpful And I've been here many times. I was just told by the cashier quote "why would I know where that item is, I'm the cashier! I have no clue about any of these items in this place! " Several items that I was purchasing didn't have tags on them but they were only 10 ft away so he threw himself a little tantrum because he had to walk over and get the price off of the stand. The whole time he was shaking and mumbling to himself! Because he was so discombobulated. I asked him to go through the items with me to make sure that he rang them up properly and found that he had run up one item three times the item was a $15.99 item. He was very put out that I had him do that but had I not I would have gotten home and realized that I paid triple for one of the items! Of course then he had to remove the items and pitched himself a little verbal fit about that.
Better employees that's really the secret to having more successful business.

THey are always so friendly and helpful. But I prefer to order online because I don't like making the 1hour drive to the store.

Found some crazy deals! Shipping costs are quite reasonable if you're buying more than a screwdriver

Yeah, they had advertised 2 free batteries with purchase of milwaukee fuel sawzall. Their site said they had 3 in stock at they store. They told me it was online only yet their website didn't say that. Their employees were very rude about it. I will never shop here again.

Staff could really be a lot friendlier. I asked for curbside on something I ordered online when I arrived to pickup, it is offered in my email and this item is way too heavy for me to lift alone. This really seemed to put them out.

Northern Tool is a great organization to deal with and they carry a wide selection of great products that really help a large property owner.

Thank you for opening one of these in Missouri, has helped out a bunch. When folks ask me what Northern Tool is I describe it as a Harbor Freight but with tools you can use more than once. Mike runs the store in Independence and has a heck of a team, everyone there is always very helpful and Mike is an excellent leader of his crew!

Well stocked, clean and organized. I am a frequent customer. I will definately return again.
No floor help available for questions and the lone clerk on duty was swamped at the cash register. Store needs additional help.as do all businesses.
