Olympia Kebob House and Taverna reviews
14Good food in a nice space. We had a party of 8 with only one salad hiccup that was fixed quickly.
Ordered 2 calamari appetizers both dry and over cooked and not edible. Told the waiter and he never offered to replace them. I didn't want the money back but just and edible portion. Didn't do anything about it. Talked to the manager and he wasn't much help either and offered another order as we were walking out the door. Wasted over 60 dollars and we won't be back. The waiter was nice but with a don't gaf attitude.
I ordered the Greek salad with gyros.
The flavor was good but gyros was cooked to a crisp. Should never come out if kitchen that way. There were pieces I could barely bite!
We love your gyros! I would say we come here like every other week! We also love the Calamari appetizer! Best Gyros in this area not joking. Keep up the great work
Olympia does not disappoint! Dine-in or take-out, the staff is great and the food is tasty. Tonight Sonna was our server and she was awesome - super friendly and professional. I didn’t catch his name, but there was a young man bussing tables who brought us our waters and he gave off a great, welcoming energy.
Also, order the flaming cheese and deluxe gyro. Thank me later.
I will not be returning to this restaurant. I placed an order for a gyro burger at the restaurant, but I received the wrong order. I waited 25 minutes for a side of gyro meat to arrive (as the gyro burger did not come with the gyro meat), but it never did. As a result, my food became cold. The first burger I received was raw, and I was never asked how I wanted it cooked. I was also overcharged for the incorrect order. The waitress eventually corrected the price, but the food was still average.
The restaurant's cleanliness is subpar. The floors were greasy and sticky, and there was a water drop falling from the ceiling to our table the entire time. These conditions were not conducive to a pleasant dining experience.
There are definitely better places to eat gyros. I would recommend seeking out a restaurant with higher standards of cleanliness and customer service.
I love this place. Local. Family run. Greek. What more could you want? The wait was a little long, but the waitress was great and moved us to a booth, away from the flow of people traffic.
Lovely inside, lovely people.
The good, the bad and the ugly:
Good: Avgolemono Soup, probably one of the most delicious soups ive ever had in my life. It was like lemon velvet.
Greek salad with chicken, pretty good. Basic, what you expect. Lettuce, feta, chicken, green pepper, a few olives.
Lamb gyro, it was okay. But just okay. Honestly slightly disappointed we were at a greek restaurant but the gyro was not so "greek". Very basic but not bad.
Bad: the kids meal chicken strips were almost inedible because they were cooked so long they became hard as a rock.
The rice.wheres the flavor? Literally no seasonings or anything, just meh.
The ugly: not the fault of the restaurant but traffic is LOUD and i mean really loud. It faces a busy street. The patio is nice if there's no traffic. People speed like crazy. Police should enforce.
I ordered to go from the bar. The guy was super nice. He gave me some ice water while I waited, and I didn’t even ask him for that. The food was pretty good too. I do wish they used basmati rice though, I bet the flavor would be amazing. I think they used parboiled rice or some other short grain rice.
Very good
The food is always fresh, the service treats you like family the atmosphere is old school cool.
Waited an hour and twenty minutes on our food. The waitress did not even ask us if we wanted refills on our water. Did not explain anything, we finally asked her after an hour. She said, we have a lot of call-in orders that we're filling. Finally brought us our food, we didn't see her again. Saw her, sitting back in a chair visiting. Had to ask another waitress to get her for our check. She got up and still took her sweet time getting to us. The bus boy took care of us better than she did.
The people at the bar were super nice and patient while I was indecisive / overwhelmed by the large menu 5 star service - but disappointed in the quality of the food I received.
I ordered lamb kabobs and verified with the waiter if I did medium would it still be tender or should I go with medium rare.she said I'd be safe with medium and it will still have a pink center. Fast forward to actually getting it and it was definitely overcooked/well done and on the tougher side which was disappointing. I also got a gyro and it was absolutely drowning in tzaziki sauce. I had too dismantle it to get ride of it basically sacrificed most of the onion lettuce and tomato to be able to get a balance between the meat and sauce. The hummus and a rice pilaf were good tho.
It's a good atmosphere and I'd go back I just would stick with the hummus and maybe try a salad next time instead of what I ordered my first visit.
Food is good, but nothing special. The prices are high for some dishes considering what you’re getting. Definitely had to get a second dinner after already spending close to $15 on a meal.
