Polite Society Restaurant and Bar reviews
20They sat us down immediately and served us the best brunch. I had the epic breakfast burrito and hot black coffee. I'm probably not going to eat dinner tonight
Waffles were out of this world! Awesome vibe, will definitely be back for the chicken and waffles!
Great cocktail menu, excellent service. We had dinner here and honestly we loved so much stuff off the appetizer menu that we just ate a bunch of appetizers. Food was delicious, the server was awesome, and the drinks were great.
We loved their hospitality to start with. During our last visit, we failed to reserve a seat for brunch early on, but the manager kindly let us take a no-show's reservation. Their brunch was great too, we especially enjoyed their waffle as a side & dessert. Finally, I personally loved their burrito - it reminded me of the burritos my mother often made for breakfast when I was in high school. I cannot ask for those burritos often as I have moved overseas.
The food here was phenomenal. The grits were so creamy. I’ve never had grits so good. I’d definitely eat here for brunch again.
Been here three times and yet to have a good experience. Went for brunch some time back and asked for a modified breakfast burrito but the “chef” told the server he was tired of people modifying that dish so he wasn’t going to. Went again last night and had one of the worst pasta dishes I’ve ever seen or tasted. It had about 5-7 different contrasting flavors that did not go together. Service side of things are ok but when you spend $100 for a couple to eat, entrees should never be dropped on top of appetizers. That’s SOS basics. It’s a beautiful space that unfortunately on the culinary side is underwhelming.
The name is Polite Society so I would expect the servers to be polite. Andrew P was a disgrace. He is arrogant, has an awful tone, is rude, and while he is hired I won't be back. My experience ranks among the worst customer service experiences in St Louis, which is generally A+ for customer service.
We were visiting St. Louis on a business trip and we always like to find local eateries to enjoy when we travel.
Polite Society was an excellent experience! Reservations are recommended! It's a cozy and intimate atmosphere, which does make it loud but it is cozy. The food was incredible, every crumb! You could tell the chef put a lot of heart and thought into his flavors and menus. There were also gluten-free options on the menu, which was one of our reasons for choosing them. The staff was friendly and welcoming. We highly recommend dinner at Polite Society!
Best food I've had in St. Louis. I ordered the scallops and they were cooked to perfection despite how large they were. It's a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. High quality ingredients prepared by a highly talented staff. The only down side is that the service isn't up to the standards of the food. Waitstaff rarely checked on us and we ran out of water several times. I would have ordered more drinks, too, had I gotten the opportunity. I guess that saved me money lol.
Really great atmosphere, friendly service, and delicious food. Their drinks were really great too!
Who do I have to call/email/bribe for this avocado toast sauce recipe? !? ! Because wow it was next level. My fiancé and I had a table full of food but this toast was the shining star (with several close seconds). Loved the house made bloody margs (regret not getting the death wish). Would go to St Louis just for this toast.
This is by far one of my favorite brunch spots in St Louis. It's easy to make a reservation (and recommended, because this place is popular). They serve the best french toast, it's filling, it's flavorful, and the portion size is very generous. The drinks are great, from the mimosas to the coffee. The service is also very good here, very helpful and friendly staff.
The Service was good. The food was amazing!
I loved the ambiance. It is a very special place that I look forward to visiting again.
Chicken and waffles are currently in the lead of my top 10! The panko and the syrup are very special. The chicken was juicy, tender and very flavorful. You, absolutely will not find anything like this anywhere else in StL!
My husband had the breakfast burrito and it was wonderful as well. Overstuffed with breakfast goodness!
Both dishes were more than enough to share or as we did, bring home for breakfast the next day!
Came here looking for something out of the ordinary. It was an all around awesome experience. I give you two thumbs up. Great food and drinks. Thanks for the great experience!
Went here for brunch. The staff was polite and attentive. The bar looked really cool. Both dishes we had, the hash and the benedict, needed salt, but we're otherwise tasty.
Great place for an anniversary dinner! I look forward to trying the brunch one of these days!
In the heart of Lafayette Square, lies this gem. Built in one of the historic row homes, the restaurant has 2 floors. The service was excellent and the food/drinks were top tier.
With it being our first time, we tried several items on the menu.devil eggs, shrimp and grits, steak, udon noodles, duck, etc.
The vibe is very chill, easy to have conversation, and the lighting is low.almost intimate-like. It's perfect for a date night. I'd recommend checking them out. Unfortunately, I can't give 5 stars due to a hair being found in the food. They apologized perfusely and made it right for us.
I'm sure it was a one off, because everything else was perfect!
Wasn’t nearly as great as the rating suggests. Food wasn’t particularly good, would recommend other places in St. Louis.
Stopped in twice on New Year's Eve with roommate and a friend for libations, French onion soup and cheese artichoke dip with toasted pita bread. Welcoming ambience.
