Pulp Fiction Comics & Games reviews
10 ***UPDATE***
After almost a year of being closed, the store was reopened with a wonderful couple taking over the customer facing duties. It is reminiscent of the old days. It is a clean, well kept store with a good sized game room in the back. Cannot recommend enough! I’m leaving the old section of the review because I want people to see how different things are now from before! Seriously, check it out!
Honestly, I went here a lot when it was run by the other owner and it was great. When the more recent owner started running things the place became a dysfunctional mess. The owner was a rude, unhelpful person who always seemed annoyed. I was overjoyed when I found out the good employees left and started their own shop. But hey, I’ll always have my fond childhood memories.
I found this place like a toys r us but for collectors there was so much stuff that I was tempted to buy but I decided not to first of all a darth mall lightsaber on display? ! What! And second, there was a life size harlequin and a bunch of comics I have never seen before and even a mimic on top of a refrigerator this place is definitely a must visit for anyone who collects
Friendly when I went. Store has a lot more than comics. A wide variety of games (DnD and board games) also some books. There are gaming tables in the back you can use for groups.
Closed for a while but reopened at a new location and it's fantastic. New and old comics as well as cards and board games.
The new local is in a great spot next to Jumping Catfish.
The store is brighter with more space, so the selection is bigger because of this.
Staff was helpful.
So glad this store is still around.
Awesome place to feel like home in a gaming atmosphere. Friendly staff and gaming of every day of the week with the side of a wide comic book verity. Highly recommend for any age.
Fantastic Experience. My 11yr old LOVED It! New ~ CLEAN ~ Wide Selection ~ maybe A Little Hard to find at first, but don't give up, keep looking, I PROMISE it's there, and WORTH IT
my = 5 Magic Wands REVIEW.
*HIGHLY recommend, for any Age
I had a free afternoon and wanted to visit the new location (and incarnation) or my favorite comic and games shop. Admittedly, I had become an irregular at the original so I didn't keep up with all the changes preceding closing and opening the new shop. That said, here's my experience:
It took me a bit to find the shop because currently the only sign is a banner that was blocked by a row of cars that no doubt belonged to customers of the restaurant next door.
I was greeted when I came in with a cheery hello and that was the beginning, middle, and end of my interaction with anyone working there. I probably would have had better conversation if I approached the counter with questions and conversation, but I didn't have anything in mind to purchase, and ultimately left without buying anything.
The store is clean and displays are tidy; I saw on their Facebook page that store layout was designed with accessibility in mind, and I appreciated the wide aisles because that meant no awkwardly blocking people or bumping into them as I milled around.
I left feeling fairly neutral. I've been to similar shops where new customers are met with suspicion and disdain, and others where employees strike up conversation with new people. Neither of those things happened today.
I may come back in a few months after you're better established in the new location.
Love the new store and location! I was a frequent visitor for years but stopped collecting due to some financial constraints. Haven't bought comics in years but when I heard they were opening back up I had to check them out. My sense of nostalgia came rushing back seeing the comics again! I also play Magic now since they had closed so I have even more reason to go in! Check them out if you are in the area.
If you aren’t even going to list your address on your website, don’t expect new customers. Honestly, with all the poor reviews in the last year I wouldn’t be surprised if they aren’t in business anymore. Throw in forcing patrons to wear masks when nearly all businesses had moved away from it and the CDC moved away from it and that’s a big no from me anyway. I’ll stick with Peculiar Games, Tabletop, Collectors Cache, Mission Board Games, Larry’s Game Store and Comic Coffee in Olathe.
