Saint Louis Zoo reviews
19Beautiful place but more of an amusement park experience. Crowded and kinda small. Lots of walking but small habitats and more shopping than needed. Not enough keepers and interaction. So basically you walk and walk and walk or you catch the train, the one ride, and occasionally you see an animal. Half the habitats were empty, for no apparent or explained reason and all of them were small. They need more funding. As much as I loved only paying for parking, and not an entrance fee, but they need more funding for actual animal and habitat care and space.
The zoo itself is wonderful, the accessibility is as good as it’s gunna get, the train is perfect for getting around in a wheelchair, the big issue is the hills, the South Gate is best for a wheelchair but the bridge is hell to push up on a wheelchair, the hills are all over the zoo and are pretty hard to get up, but the zoo did the best they could, even repaired cracks in the ground to keep it smooth for wheelchairs, I do wish wheelchair rentals didn’t cost money, as my custom made manual was having trouble with the hills, and the electric one they had for rent would have been very helpful, if I didn’t have to pay $35-45 bucks for it, seems a little exploitive. But overall the zoo is great.
This is an awesome zoo, entrance to the zoo is free but pay for parking. 15$ a car is reasonable and parking is well lit and spacious close to the entrance.
The St. Louis Zoo is one of my favorite places to visit. When visiting, it is always a good idea to pay for the round trip train ride and the sea lion show. Although the show is good, it seemed better years ago in the old aquarium arena. There are lots of vendors to purchase food from and drinks to stay hydrated. Parking in the parking lot was still available when we arrived. This is a major plus as sometimes a parking area can be a long journey from the entry gate.
Very nice zoo, admission is free! The animals were well cared for and we loved the exhibition of the punguinos, which was small but very pretty.
Always been a favorite place to go. Haven't been to the zoo in a few years and I can say I'm impressed with how the caretakers keep the grounds and enclosures of the animals. Besides the screaming kids, the areas are peaceful. The bird / insect enclosures had appropriate darker lighting as bright lights can stress them out. Some spaces are crowded and can cause people to shove or create claustrophobic situations, which is one of my only complaints.
The best free zoo in the country. Everything feels clean, well-kept, and the service and atmosphere is great. Plus you can't beat the 0$ price tag!
Nice that it's free and very tropical and easy to witness the animals in an open type of environment
While it doesn't cost to enter, it does cost to park. I still find that cheaper. It's a big zoo! We only walked a section of it for the day we went. But with what we saw, I really liked the setup of the habitats!
The Zoo is great they had so many animals and the gift shops were great to look at. But my only down side. Is that the Zoo closes way too early when I was there. They started to put animals away around 3ish instead of around 5pm. Also some benches and tables need to be more tidy and clean. Restrooms need to be more tidy. But also people need to help out and use their good morals and not to make a mess.
It’s free, it’s a wonderful place. Spend the day, spend a week, the animals and the caretakers seemed all very happy in our short time there. What are you waiting for GO
It was one of the most amazing zoos I've ever been to. The sea lion walkthrough was breathtaking. My kids and I were amazed you get to see the penguins up close and in person. I've never gotten to see one without glass between us before. An absolute spectacular treat. We spent the whole day there. Highly recommend it for Anybody who loves nature and animals
St. Louis' famous zoo. Bring the family or bring a friend, always a good time. Come for a night event for an extra special time. Early birds see some of the best animal encounters.
One of the best free zoological parks in the country! Yeah, the prices are a bit high for things but that's how they keep it free. Lots of things to see so plan accordingly. Paid parking in the summer is $15 and cheaper during the winter time. Lots of parking on the street, towards the art museum. To see the stingrays costs some $ but it's worth it!
My family and I had a great time. The animals all seemed very happy and playful. It's a beautiful zoo. I highly recommend it.
Love this zoo. A great place for the family.
The photo is a South African Eagle.
Very impressive collection that is very viewer friendly. Recommend a minimum of 4 hours to enjoy this zoo.
It was great! September was the perfect time to go. Now crowded and the weather was perfect. My 3 year old son loved it and didn’t want to leave.
We went there on a MONDAY afternoon in September. The weather was perfect but hardly any animals out. Very disappointed! We won’t go back. Free admission but had to pay $15.00 to park. The $4.00 ice cream cone was so stale, the cone was like chewing leather! Dickerson Park Zoo is so much better in Springfield, MO than this one!
